The hotel's location is quite convenient, about a ten-minute walk to the Reeperbahn. However, the hotel itself is old and a bit eerie. The room layout was messy, and the bed quality was so bad that my back hurt after just one night. There are definitely management issues here. I had pre-paid for my room through Trip.com, but the hotel double-charged my credit card. Even after I pointed it out, the charge still went through. I had to contact them through Trip.com and then email the hotel directly to get the duplicate charge refunded. Trip.com showed an 11 AM checkout time, and from 11 AM onwards, a loud bell kept ringing in my room, about once a minute. When I asked the front desk about it during checkout, they said it was a daily fire alarm drill. However, when I mentioned this in my email to the hotel requesting a refund, they denied it, claiming their checkout time was 12 PM. To make matters worse, I forgot my down jacket on the bed when I left. About two minutes later, I remembered and went back to retrieve it, only to find someone already cleaning the room. He asked if I was looking for clothes and pointed to the floor. My white down jacket was thrown on the floor with the bedsheets. I felt terrible at that moment. I had just left, and they were already cleaning, which means they saw me go. Why didn't they immediately notify the front desk to send my jacket there? This definitely doesn't feel like the service you'd expect from a chain hotel. There are clear problems with their service, management, and staff training. I'd advise everyone to avoid this place.

Although this hotel is by no means modern, the service is good with friendly staff,, the rooms are clean, and it is perfectly situated for a day out shopping, or an evening out.

Having visited previously we were very much looking forward to spending 2 nights at The Feversham Arms. We were disappointed to see how tired the venue looked on the outside the sun was shining and we looked forward to spending the afternoon having lunch by the pool and Soaking up the sun.  The service was below par and the food was average despite being quite heavily priced. There wasn’t enough seats to accommodate the guests who all obviously wanted to do the same thing. The pool area had uplifted flags with weeds growing and the pool is in desperate need of repair. Having visited previously and been treated with kind and courteous staff I was disheartened by the attitude of some of the service staff, especially in the spa area and the alfresco dining area.

Stayed a few times at the Grand Hotel Scarborough, it is situated within a few minutes walk to the town for the shops and eateries also a 5 min walk from the train station. The seafront, beach, arcades etc is either a tram ride away, a walk down steps or a stroll down through the town. Our room was a double, but was 2 singles beds pushed together, the mattresses were very hard and uncomfortable, only one pillow each, we could've requested more from reception but normally these are usually found in wardrobe or on shelving in other hotels. The view was OK overlooking the carpark to the front. There was a small fridge which was on the floor by the dresser, very odd not on a surface like on drawers. A hairdryer, flat screen tv with no ITV, ironing board, kettle, cups coffee tea, bath towels etc were provided . The Bathroom was a bit odd with the shower screen attached past the safety grab rail so water splashed onto the floor, the toilet was also slanted towards the bath. Room was warm enough, a fan was in the wardrobe as no aircon but didnt use it, we had frequent visits from the local seagulls on our windowsill. This hotel is OK, it's very dated with brown furnishings and the rooms/ skirting boards need a deep clean and refreshing. Cannot comment on food, entertainment or bar as we didn't partake in these.

The hotel has a beautiful location. The antique building has been kept in excellent condition. We chose to stay in the Feature Double Room-old Hall. The room was very spacious, with seating area. A coffee machine was also available. Cool drinks in the fridge. Breakfast was delicious, individually cooked, with a wide choice. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend this hotel

Nice hotel room with a nice view. Only downside was the parking space was quite small. Finding parking was difficult. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much.

I had a comfortable stay at the Holiday Inn York. The hotel is conveniently located about a 10-minute ride from the train station using bus 840 or 843, which made getting there fairly easy. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable, providing a relaxing place to unwind after a day of exploring. The only drawback is the distance to the Hop On Hop Off bus pick-up point. We either had to take another bus or walk about 20 minutes to reach the nearest stop, which wasn’t always ideal. Overall, the hotel offers good comfort and cleanliness, but travelers relying on sightseeing buses should plan for a bit of extra travel time.

The hotel is very close to the train station, about a 5-minute walk through the city walls, which is very convenient. York city isn't large, and most attractions and shopping streets are within walking distance. We booked two rooms and arrived a little after 2 PM. The front desk initially thought we only had one room and assigned us a room on the first floor, ignoring our request for a higher floor. When I told him we had booked two rooms, he then said the other room could be on a higher floor, but we couldn't get the keys until after 3 PM. So, we had to take all our luggage to the first-floor room first. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strange smell, which got a little better after turning on the air conditioning. Since we were only staying for one night, we didn't bother to discuss it further. When we returned in the evening, we picked up the keys for the second room, which was on a higher floor. The cleanliness was noticeably better than the first-floor room, and there was no strange smell. Both rooms were quite spacious, which was a plus. Breakfast was semi-buffet style; you could order one hot dish, and then help yourself to bread, fruit, and other items.

Check in was easy and the front desk, restaurant, and bar staff were great. The menu at the restaurant is very limited...not many healthy choices and very few starters for those who would just like small bites. There needs to be more restaurant and bar staff ! one person serving the bar and restaurant ? Not fair to staff or your guests. When we were there we were not told the restaurant was closing early because of a large tour group so my friend who joined us later was unable to order anything. The room was also quite dark so I would suggest adding more lighting. That being said, good location and clean!

The location is great . The hotel was clean and pleasant. The only fault I had was coming back after the concert( which I think most of the hotel had) the poor bar lady was struggling to serve everyone . Also stock up on your nibbles . As they ran out as well . Be mindful if you’re not very mobile , as the left is retro . And if the residents don’t close the inner door then it is then disabled . That’s not the hotels fault , but it does mean you have to use the stairs . The breakfast was good . The staff were very helpful and friendly .

GGuest UserThe hotel is very large, so I understand it can be challenging for the cleaning staff to maintain cleanliness everywhere. However, I noticed that the pictures online look a bit nicer (spotless) compared to the actual condition. Room 244 had an extra heater, which I really appreciated — it was the best part of the stay, as the room stayed warm and comfortable during the night. That said, there was some dust on the bedside table, and the toilet was not very clean. This was actually the first time I needed to clean the toilet seat myself in a hotel. I also noticed that some rooms seem much nicer and better maintained than others. The staff service was okay, and I found the breakfast very convenient — it saved me time before going out to visit places.

CCarlosOur staying at the Witching Post Inn could have not been better. Our room was spacious and very confortable. And the place has a lot of personality and history. If you want to know the roots of this place you can speak to the landlord, Pete. But more important Pete makes you feel at home, as you are part of the family. The stories, the jokes and the environment in the pub is so cosy that makes you feel you are between friends. And don't look anywhere else for food and drinks. We had dinner in here during the Parmo night, and the food was fantastic, one of the best we had in the area. And this includes the beer and gins. Also, we vouch for the breakfast, the full breakfast is delicious and we couldn't get enough of it. If you are staying the area, please do yourself a favor and stay at the Witching Post Inn. I am glad we chose this place for our staying, and a big thanks to Pete and all the staff for the lovely and welcoming staying

Amazing stay in Ascot House. The house is beautiful like a movie, with warm decorations, quick check in and good breakfast. Though 4 of us may be crowded in a room, we love everything. The hosts are nice and friendly too 🥰

BBOHEA single hostel for one person. There is a toilet and a washstand in the house, but there is no bathroom. The public bathroom is clean and has a lot of privacy. However, the staff helped me clean up a room in advance and let me check in early. There is no supermarket nearby. The train station is 25 minutes away. The garden in the hotel is very beautiful. I feel good after opening the window in the morning. Room with 5 single beds
