faifai_0Great location, but the hotel doesn't have its own dedicated parking. You have to park next door, and the entrance to that parking lot is a bit hidden. There aren't many convenience stores nearby; there's one within walking distance. However, the hotel staff's service attitude is excellent.

Guest UserThis hotel's 12th-floor ocean view twin room is very spacious. The large public bath is also a thoughtful touch, offering everything you need, and the lounge is very comfortable, providing complimentary drinks and snacks for guests to enjoy. I highly recommend it if you're bringing kids to Beppu; it's definitely worth staying a night!

Anonymous UserIt is very near to the Beppu train station, about 3~5 minutes walking.
Breakfast is good, wide selection of Japanese and some western food.
Public bath ~ you need to walk to another Amanek Hotel, just few steps away. Nice hot pool with sauna facilities. Only complaint is the female cleaner keep coming in and out when the male guests are in the changing room and public bath. Doesn't she have better time to come and do cleaning and service? The bath area is close between late morning to afternoon.

This hotel is a bit far from JR Oita Station, and it can be tiring to walk back and forth if you're using it as a transfer point between Beppu and Yufuin.
It's an older hotel that's been renovated, but the furniture is still old, and the bedding comfort is just average; the duvet was too thick. The room size is quite large for Japan. We specifically booked a room with a sofa bed for our child, but it was small and hard, and our child refused to sleep on it after an hour.
There's a large 24-hour supermarket near the hotel with good prices, which is convenient for buying daily necessities. Across the street is a school, and the Nikko Hotel is not far next door. Oita Art Museum and the pedestrian street are within walking distance.

All the hotel staff were fantastic! I didn't book the half-board option on Trip.com, but I successfully added it via email, and the staff were very thoughtful, asking about any food allergies. The room was generally very clean, and toiletries were provided. The only slight drawback was the moss in the onsen. The inn also has a car park.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There's a convenience store just a few minutes' drive away, which is super convenient! Already looking forward to my next stay!

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive.
Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three.
First, let's talk about transportation:
Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away.
Next, the service:
What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics.
Finally, the room facilities:
The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while.
The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.

travelfatiguedTerra Yufuin is great for families. The 6 beds available can accommodate at least 6 adults and a handful of kids. The onsite indoor onsen was well loved by my kids. We stayed in the ”sauna” house and hardly used the sauna- it was great to go in and out of the sauna in the November weather.
The owner/manager was responsive to our requests through the app. However, I found the amenities to be very precisely provided for laundry detergent pods and trash bags. I felt like we had to ration them even though we did not request for more. Only one pillow is provided per bed too.
I would recommend this place especially if you are alright with bunk beds above your bed. My older folks bumped their heads every night so that will have to be a consideration. Other than that, the place is well kept and beautiful.

No car? No problem! Right next to Beppu Station, there's a dedicated waiting room for the hotel, so you don't have to worry about rain or snow. Plus, there's a free shuttle bus every 20 minutes.
The hotel is situated on a hill, offering expansive views from all common areas. Inside, there's a large gift shop and a game center, perfect for both adults and children. Even though my room had a mountain view, I had no regrets; seeing the misty mountains and the steam from the hot springs was very characteristic of Beppu.
Of course, the most important part is the hot springs! I'm not sure if there are private baths, but the public bathhouse was already fantastic! There are three large outdoor tiered pools, so even with a lot of people, it doesn't feel crowded or awkward. They overlook the bay, and the front-most pool even allows you to lie down – I really loved that spot. There are also several smaller single-person pools. The sauna was surprisingly in the outdoor area too; although small, it also offered sea views. And there were at least three cleaning staff constantly tidying up, keeping both the pools and floors very clean. I soaked in the hot springs three times during my one-night stay ♨️ – it was incredibly relaxing!
Dinner was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, and you could drink as much beer, red wine, white wine, and sake as you wanted! All the desserts were delicious.
One more thing: even though I didn't take photos, I noticed many child-friendly details, such as a kids' food corner and utensils at the buffet, and changing tables in the hot spring changing rooms. It was my first time seeing this at a hot spring hotel, which is quite rare.
I took the wrong train when I arrived, delaying my plans for an entire day. Combined with the rain, traveling solo, without a car, and not wanting to walk around in the wet, I only did one thing in Beppu: I just enjoyed the hotel 😹. Booking a good hotel is really important; my mood completely improved once I got here 🫶🏻

Guest UserWhat an amazing place! We had a wonderful time “glamping” at the Grand Verde Resort. From first being greeted upon check in till our departure the attention to detail and hospitality were top notch! We especially loved the delicious breakfast and dinner spread, the Public Bath, and sauna, and the hobbit houses. The gorgeous views from our yurt in the mountains were breathtaking and we were able to see millions of stars at night on the clear evenings. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars!!! Highly recommend this place for your next getaway!

It is difficult to walk because it is a few kilometers from Beppu station, but if you can use the free shuttle bus or the fixed-route bus systematically, you can stay without a car. There is a Family Mart nearby, but be careful because alcohol is not sold. The meal is very delicious with local dishes using Oita ingredients.
