I really liked the hotel itself. The room is well-equipped, there is even wireless charging, YouTube TV works. Stylish, modern, clean. There is a beautiful swimming pool with a view. It is perfect for a secluded, quiet holiday. A tuk tuk takes you to the nearest beach. But you still have to walk a bit. The beach is wave-free, you can swim. The restaurant is priced above average, but it is delicious and well-served The tuk tuk drivers try to increase the price because the hotel is on a mountain.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. While the property is quite old and the décor and furnishings are noticeably dated, the room was impeccably clean. I was able to walk barefoot in the room without any discomfort, which reflects the hotel’s strong cleanliness standards. The location is one of the hotel’s highlights, situated beautifully along Hikkaduwa Beach with plenty of beach chairs and sunbeds available for guests. Breakfast and dinner were satisfactory, though not particularly outstanding. The service was very good, with warm, friendly, and attentive hospitality, which is consistent with the high standard of service generally found in Sri Lanka. The hotel was also very kind in allowing our driver to stay as well, which was a thoughtful and generous gesture. Overall, it was a pleasant beachfront stay with excellent cleanliness and service, despite the aging facilities.

I'm so glad I booked this hotel; for $45 a night, we practically got a European four-star. Yes, there's some road noise, but by the third day we'd gotten used to it. We stayed in room 309, which we upgraded from 204, and cars will practically drive past your windows. If you're a light sleeper, be sure to bring earplugs. Across the street, there's a beautiful lounge area; we spent a couple of evenings watching the sunset there. 😍 The room has all the amenities, even a TV. When the hotel is busy, the buffet is excellent. I recommend this hotel if you value value for money.

Our room was conveniently located right by the pool entrance, making swimming incredibly easy! It faced the ocean, but the waves were too rough for swimming, so we could only enjoy walks along the beach. As it was the weekend, the hotel had children's activities and evening shows. The buffet was very generous, and the desserts were delicious. A big thank you to Jayaru who checked us in; they discovered it was my birthday the next day and surprised me with a birthday cake at breakfast.

We arrived at a fully booked hotel. It was terrible. It was mostly Russian package holidaymakers (families or seniors), with very few young people. It's a good thing we only spent two nights there; we wanted to leave the next day. Breakfast was so crowded that you'd spend five minutes walking around with your plate looking for a free table. The Russians seemed starved, scooping up food and pushing each other. On the beach, the sun loungers were so close together, it was as if they were lying on top of each other, there was no privacy. The beach was small, cluttered with boats, the sand was unpleasant, and the bottom was rocky. The rooftop pool requires a fee if you live below the 9th floor; it's unclear how to get this information when booking.

The location is a bit remote, especially the entrance to the hotel is very small and has no lights. But it is OK to enter the hotel, the lobby is very high and there is a swimming pool. The room facilities are OK, the service is average, and many operations are outsourced. It feels like a hotel built by a local tycoon, and the hotel management level is average. The food is average, not very delicious, and the overall cost performance is not high.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, we were quickly settled and met with a welcome drink. The staff were very friendly, but the rest of the hotel staff were very strangely behaving(noisy, shouting, arguing among themselves). Our room was clean and clean, the room was a large balcony as well big refrigerator. Very good was water pressure in the shower. The hotel location is also excellent (through the road beach, 5 minutes walk to the grocery store) Fear the mafia of Tuckers We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, we were quickly checked in and greeted with a welcome drink. Nestled by the lake with expansive lawns, the hotel offers a truly wonderful environment. The room amenities were also excellent. It was delightful to spot various small birds and squirrels freely roaming the lobby and playing on the hotel's grounds – our children were absolutely thrilled. The swimming pool was also fantastic, and there was so much for the kids to do right on-site that they barely needed to leave the hotel. Breakfast was a generous spread, and the service was exceptionally warm. They can arrange transport to Yala and Bundala. Unfortunately, it wasn't bird-watching season, so we missed out on Bundala. However, should we visit Bundala again, we would definitely choose to stay here.

A very high-quality hotel. The student interns provide excellent, lively service. They arranged everything for us, from snorkeling to a safari tour. It's also within walking distance to the beach, and there are many restaurants nearby. We will definitely come back here again.

GGuest UserSet a quadruple room, in fact, can live 6 or 7 people no problem 😄 The hotel is located on the edge of the lake. Since we are going to Yarra National Park to see wildlife the next morning, the store packed breakfast for us very early.

FFrankThe hotel is well-known, a little old, but the area and overall atmosphere are normal. The price/quality ratio is reasonable. An excellent restaurant overlooking the ocean and a very strange restaurant where breakfast and dinner are held (reviews on Google maps) confirm this. The beach is a little dirty, but this is not a problem of the hotel but of the local population in general.

JJD75Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property.

MM445002****As one of Sri Lanka's top luxury hotels, the Shangri-La maintains excellent hygiene and safety standards; sniffer dogs conduct luggage searches before entry. The Shangri-La's breakfast and dinner buffets are well-suited to Chinese tastes. The beach is also beautiful.
