The hotel is quite close to the bus stop, about a 4-minute walk, but there are no convenience stores nearby. If you stay here, you'll need to book the hotel's breakfast or buy breakfast in advance. The facilities are a bit old, and it seems there are no disposable slippers, only geta (wooden clogs). However, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, with a direct view of Mount Fuji, so you can watch the sunrise right from your room in the morning. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the friendly and attentive staff made me feel right at home. The modern, thoughtful design of the property creates such a relaxing atmosphere throughout.
The Highlights:
• The Onsen Experience: Having both a private in-room onsen and access to the beautifully maintained private onsen facilities was a true luxury. It made the stay incredibly rejuvenating.
• Dining: The breakfast spread was delicious and offered a great variety to start the day. As a bonus, there is a fantastic Indian restaurant right across the street that serves amazing food—definitely worth a visit!
• Service: The housekeeping was meticulous, ensuring the room was spotless every single day.
Everything about this stay was top-tier. If you are looking for a place with great aesthetics, wonderful service, and a relaxing onsen experience, I highly recommend booking here. I can't wait to back!
The 15 sqm room with two beds felt surprisingly spacious, thanks to the cleverly designed compact bathroom. Bringing a large suitcase might be a challenge, though.
The room and the hotel overall were spotlessly clean, and the staff's hospitality was exceptional; they'd proactively greet you.
Located right on the main road at the south end of Kawaguchiko Bridge, the hotel is a convenient ten-minute walk to Yagizaki Park by the lake if you turn left upon exiting. It's a great spot for an early morning stroll, where you might even catch sight of white swans foraging by the lake.
A frequent shuttle bus service runs between the hotel and Kawaguchiko JR Station, making transportation very easy, and the driver's service was top-notch.
Breakfast options include Japanese (Hall A) and Western (Hall B). Both are simple but feature fresh ingredients, and you're welcome to dine in both halls.
This hotel offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
Perfect location to see the whole Fuji mountain. you must need car because this location is not easy for public transport. The whole unit is just perfect. it provide breakfast daily as well. Tou can sit at the rooftop to view the city and moutain. it is factastic
The hotel is located on top of a hill overlooking Mount Fuji and Lake Yamanaka. The views from the rooms and onsite onsens all have a view of Mount Fuji. It's honestly unbeatable.
Hotel is incredibly cool! Located quite far from Kawaguchico station, but I would recommend to take a walk to it - the way takes about 25-30 minutes and it is very relaxing with fantastic views of Fuji. For the way back, if it’s needed, after check out you can take a free transfer bus to the station. We took a room in traditional style, and it is amazing experience! Kaiseki supper and breakfast are exciting, service is excellent! Public bath is not tattoo friendly, so we couldn’t use it, but we booked private bath while checking in and it was a great experience as well.
Hotel has an observation roof where you can see both Fuji and Kawaguchiko lake. I wish we have stayed for longer, but had not much time and booked only one night.
I was incredibly lucky to see a very clear Mount Fuji. Pictures 2 and 3 were both taken from the room's balcony.
As other guests have mentioned, the hotel breakfast is very, very, very mediocre. Not only is the selection limited, but there wasn't a single tasty dish. The coffee was absolutely awful; I haven't had coffee this bad in a long time.
Furthermore, on the first night, I was woken up by the fire alarm around 1 AM. I threw on a jacket over my pajamas and rushed out. On the way down the stairs, I saw many other guests running downstairs with their suitcases. When we got downstairs, the hotel staff said there was no fire, and it was a false alarm. This significantly impacted my experience, and the hotel didn't offer any explanation the next day either.
The hotel was a pleasant surprise with an unexpectedly rich array of activities.
Hidden in the back garden was a large, beautifully manicured Japanese garden. Sipping Japanese matcha while gazing at the small bridges and flowing water was incredibly relaxing.
The taiko drum performance was incredibly energetic! The young performers had amazing stamina, drumming, dancing, and chanting all at once. During the intermission, they even invited children to join in and drum to the rhythm. I later found out it was a performance put on by the hotel staff themselves, which showed so much love and dedication.
There were also bingo games and piano performances, and even one-year-old kids got to wear cute little yukatas! 🫰
From the room, we had a view of Mount Fuji, which was still covered in snow in March. It was cold but stunningly beautiful.
The only minor downsides were that the rooftop open-air onsen with Mount Fuji views was open to women only very early in the morning, and we didn't get a chance to enjoy it due to our schedule. Also, the food might not have been the freshest; after all, fresh seafood isn't exactly a mountain specialty. While we didn't experience vomiting or diarrhea after eating, we did feel a bit off for two days.
The service was great! The view is amazing. The only minor drawback was that the breakfast was exactly the same for both days. We went down at 7 AM and were seated by a window overlooking Mount Fuji, which was lovely! You can see beautiful Mount Fuji right from your room; I didn't even want to go out exploring. I just wanted to relax on the balcony or in the bathtub and enjoy the view! They also offer complimentary evening drinks, including corn soup, juice, and soda, as well as cream puffs and bread. Plus, there's free ramen in the evenings!
Pros:
1. The Mt. Fuji view was perfect. The cleanliness and condition of the facilities were absolutely fine, even exceeding expectations. It's much better than some older, traditional hotels with Mt. Fuji views, offering excellent value for money at this price point.
2. The hotel service was also great. From the front desk to the restaurant staff and the housekeepers, everyone offered service with a smile. Perhaps because it was the off-season, another couple checking in at the same time received a room upgrade. The hotel also provides a convenient shuttle service from Kawaguchiko Station.
3. The restaurant staff were very professional. While the sukiyaki for dinner wasn't a huge surprise, it was decent and had no flaws.
4. It's only a few hundred meters from Oishi Park, which is easily walkable. Compared to other attractions, it's a bit more niche, but the scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is very pleasant.
Cons:
1. It's quite a distance from Kawaguchiko Station, making it a bit far from other attractions.
2. You can't see Mt. Fuji at night due to the lack of light (which isn't the hotel's fault).
3. All rooms are non-smoking, and the small open space in front of the hotel with Mt. Fuji views is also a non-smoking area. There's only a small designated smoking area at the back entrance of the hotel. As a smoker, it's a bit inconvenient, but completely understandable and acceptable.
4. Also, there are no convenience stores or supermarkets within walking distance of the hotel. The Oishi Store listed on Apple Maps is actually closed.
5. To reach the hotel, you have to walk up a relatively long slope. It can be a bit tiring if you're on foot, but once you're down the slope, you're right by Lake Kawaguchiko, and there are very few people.
Overall, the hotel is excellent. If you're staying with a partner, you can take a walk along Lake Kawaguchiko below the hotel. With Mt. Fuji right in front of you, the atmosphere is romantic and there are few people around. Highly recommended.
