Castle Green Hotel In Kendal, BW Premier Collection®! Grand, picturesque, peaceful, immaculate, breathtaking! So many words can be used to describe the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal, BW Premier Collection® that we think it would be unfair to try and do it justice with one alone. Except perhaps, Wow! Fourteen acres of gardens and woodland will leave you feeling relaxed and revived, ready to explore nearby Windermere and other surrounding beauty spots in the Lakes District. After a days sailing, walking, museum-visiting or steam railway-ing, youll return to your home away from home, where a comprehensive fitness and leisure club with beauty salon awaits. Perhaps a tempting menu of dishes will leave your mouth watering and your jaw dropping in the Greenhouse Restaurant or Alexanders Pub on the grounds. So join us for a day or two or three and take in the sights of this beautiful English hideaway. Friendly 24-hour porterage is available on request. *Ages 16 and under swimming: Mon-Fri 10 a.m.-12 p.m. 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m./Sat-Sun 10 a.m.-12 p.m. 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Check-in time is 3 p.m. on Sundays.*

"£200 for a basic room for one night was a bit on the pricey side for me, however it was nice all the same. A few of the photos of the basic room are misleading. The photos show a four post double bed which is not the case. We found out later this is actually an executive room despite it being labeled basic. We found out that the hotel location is accessible by bus from Oxenholme train station (despite being told the opposite) and has a great view of beautiful fields. Food in the hotel is good but expensive... My eyes nearly popped out their sockets when I saw the £8.00 charge just for the tiniest amount of table bread. I'd say this was probably the reason the restaurant was empty despite being told we need to book a table due to its popularity. Swimming pool and steam room are average for the price. Staff are friendly and changed our room to a double bed room free of charge after mistakenly putting us in a twin bedroom."

The room was very nice, with swan bath towels. The environment was nice, between two towns, with the bus station just outside. The shop was run by a couple, the breakfast was delicious and the quantity was large, so make reservations in advance. A good stay experience.

The room offered a view of little bunnies, and breakfast was plentiful. The hot spring water wasn't very warm. The outdoor hot spring requires a separate ticket; it's 25 baht per person for guests, and only available in the morning. Children are not allowed in the outdoor area.

Upon arrival there was nobody at the front desk so I waited. The woman I was somewhat greated by was far from pleasant and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Nothing was explained and no information leaflet for me to read through in my own time. When given my room key I started walking through the lobby but couldn’t see any signs for my room number. Went back to the desk to ask where to go for my room and was told ‘just follow it round’. Very unhelpful and unwelcoming, not sure this lady should be at the face of the hotel. Plus side, room was beautiful and well kept/clean. I was also lake side so got to watch the sunrise with my morning cuppa. Very refreshing views.

Hotel was clean, plenty of parking, good breakfast No information in rooms, was advised that they didn’t like clutter, so any questions we had we had to go to reception to ask. No wifi, channels on tv not tuned in, had to pay to use the spa facilities.

Let’s start with the absolute best part of the stay: stepping out of the back of the hotel. The mature gardens stretch right down to the water’s edge, complete with the hotel's own private jetty. Sitting out on the terrace with a coffee in the morning, watching the mist rise off Windermere and the boats drift past, is worth a massive chunk of the room rate alone. Because it’s located right in the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, the convenience is unbeatable. You can park up (fair warning: parking is a hefty £25 per day) and completely forget about your car. The Bowness boat piers are a two-minute stroll away, and you are surrounded by local pubs and restaurants.

It happened to be a wedding when I went there. The lobby was full of enthusiastic and cheerful foreigners. There was a dog on duty at the front desk, and it was very well behaved. If you bring children, you need to pay an additional 30 yuan per dog. This, uh... it would be good without this fee. The free buffet breakfast on the second day was good. After ordering coffee, the waiter brought it. There was self-service milk and drinking water in the corridor. Parking is free, and the parking lot is quite large. Basically, you don’t have to worry about having no place, because even if the wedding was full of people the day before, there are still a few parking spaces. Although it is gloomy, rainy, windy and snowy every day in the UK, we saw the long-lost starry sky here.

The hotel experience was quite poor. We checked in at around 4 o'clock that day. Even the front desk receptionist couldn't find the room we were given. After checking in, we found that the two double beds we booked were actually one double bed and two simple single beds. We went to the front desk to negotiate and were told that the rooms were full and there was a solution at the second level. At 10 o'clock in the evening, when we were ready to go to bed, we found that one of the simple beds had collapsed. When we turned over the sheets, we found that three wooden bars were missing. We went to the front desk to negotiate again. The night manager said that he was only the restaurant manager and could only add a mattress first and solve it the next day. As a result, the simple bed was only replaced with a wire bed the next day, which was not as good as the mattress the night before. The next night, we went to the bar on the first floor to consume with the 5-pound voucher for not cleaning the room. After ordering, we found that the bill price was different from the price we had just arrived. After checking, it was indeed a problem with the bar's price system, but when the bartender came back with the menu, he threw the menu next to us, and his expression when delivering the meal was also quite unhappy. Hypocritical British apology. This hotel is not worth the price at all.

Overall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.
