Reviews: Baku mud volcanoes + Ateshgah Fire Temple + mosque + petroglyphs 1-day tour [available for solo travelers]
Guest User2026-05-31
The itinerary included major attractions around Baku, making for a very fulfilling day trip. The most worthwhile sight was the rock paintings, many of which are well-preserved and have been standing for many years on the hillsides along the Caspian Sea, reflecting the lives of the early inhabitants. I saw mud volcanoes for the first time, although calling them volcanoes felt a bit inaccurate. Azerbaijan truly lives up to its name as the Land of Fire, with many naturally occurring fires, reflecting its abundant oil and gas resources. It's understandable that it was once one of the main centers of Zoroastrianism; the natural conditions were indeed in line with the religion's doctrines.

The staff were very friendly, but the attraction itself was lacking. You'll regret not coming; you'll regret coming.

Reviews: Baku: Gobustan, Mud Volcanoes, Fire Mountain & Temple Tour
Guest User2026-04-11
The tour allows you to see all the places that are difficult to reach on your own. The bus was comfortable, and the group size was good—17 people packed up quickly and moved from place to place without any hassle. The mud volcanoes aren't particularly impressive, but you can reach them off-road in a Niva, which is in danger of falling apart. The most interesting spots are Gobustan (an open-air museum) and the Fire Temple in Absheron. Be prepared to pay extra for the tickets and the Niva ride (we paid 65 manat per person for all the extras) plus lunch. Bring water and a small snack, as lunch isn't until 2:00 PM. The tour was offered in three languages: English, Spanish, and Turkish. They said there were Russian-speaking groups, but we didn't find that option. Overall, it was a great experience for a very reasonable price.
