The quality of the hotel is very high. It's conveniently located near the train station and a 15 minute walk to the old town. The spa is really nice, clean, and spacious. The family spa is a nice touch. Rooms are very large, comfortable beds, with a tub. The only drawback is breakfast. The restaurant is too small to accommodate guests. It's odd that it's common in Japan to have large hotels, with many guests, include breakfast, and then build a tiny restaurant. Makes no sense. Options are limited and food is the same every day. I wouldn't recommend it, but there's so few options nearby or in the town in general, that you basically have to eat there. Just go before 8 AM. Otherwise, the hotel is really nice.

The hot spring was lovely and very relaxing, but the food was really mediocre. We had the 'one night, two meals' package, and while dinner had many courses, similar to a Kaiseki meal, the taste was just plain average. The combinations were strange. I'd recommend staying here, but definitely eat elsewhere. As for the claw machines inside, it's impossible to win a doll.

Awesome hotel located just 5-10mins walk behind FamilyMart ie opposite the TAKAYAMA NOHI Bus Stn & JR. The check in was easy & front desk staff was very professional ensuring the process was easy & swift! The hotel has a great & large Hot Spring and outdoor Rotenburo Onsen they’re segregated Men-Women. The onsen lobby has large lounge space to relax, free ice cream and a large full length glass window overlooking you may sit on chairs & coin operated massage chairs enjoying the beautiful town and fabulous snow capped mountains at the edge of the town in the day & sunrise!! The morning Japanese breakfast options are plentiful, staffs are helpful and friendly too! To walk to the Old Houses District perhaps only take 15mins leisure walk but gets really quiet & dark by 6PM in March!

Every year at the end of the year, I visit Takayama, mainly to see the snow scenery in Shirakawa-go, and this hotel has pretty much become my go-to choice. What I love most is the service; the staff are all incredibly warm and attentive, making for a very comfortable stay. Plus, you can book a private onsen, which is wonderfully quiet and relaxing – a real highlight of the trip. Last year, the room I stayed in had a beautiful Japanese tatami area, which really added to the traditional Japanese ambiance. It's a shame I couldn't book that room type this time; it seems they no longer have it, which is a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the overall experience was still excellent, and I'll likely choose to stay here again next time I'm in Takayama.

A great hotel with a great location. Located next to Family Mart and close to the centre of the historical town. The room layout and size is spacious enough.  Will definitely rebook this hotel.

A very satisfying accommodation experience. The staff are of high quality and the service is in place. Although the hotel has a certain history, it is well maintained in all aspects and the environment is clean and hygienic. The breakfast is rich in variety and delicious, and the room design is reasonable. I will recommend it to friends and stay here again next time.

We stayed at Mercure Hida Takayama during our road trip in Takayama and it was a great choice. The location is very convenient — just a few minutes’ walk from JR Takayama Station and close to many restaurants. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable. After a long day of driving and sightseeing, the public bath on the top floor was perfect for relaxing. The hotel felt new and well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience was smooth and pleasant. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Takayama. Would definitely stay here again!!

The hotel rooms are simple and comfortable! In addition to the hot spring facilities in the hotel itself, it is also connected to the isolated building to provide an additional hot spring option; there are also many activity facilities! The hotel is very close to Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. After the tour, you can rest and soak in the hot springs in the hotel, which is very convenient! The Hida beef kaiseki cuisine is very rich and delicious! The room price includes breakfast and dinner, which is very cost-effective! The hotel service is very good, and there are English-speaking staff introducing hotel facilities and services, etc.! Kaiseki breakfast and dinner have separate rooms for dining; The restaurant staff will explain each food, and their work attitude is serious and enthusiastic. I like the little boy in the restaurant very much! I will choose to stay again in the future and recommend it to friends in Hong Kong!

It was a very grateful hotel for sauna lovers!! It was very nice to have a feeling of cleanliness, the sauna can adjust the temperature and the lowryu! !! If you put water in the bathtub next door, you can also take a water bath 🛀 I got water, Olopo! I was surprised that the rice ball was placed at the front desk in the morning! I thought it was nice 🍙 Thank you!

This hostel is a budget-friendly option. The family room with bunk beds is great; it could probably fit six people at a push, but for a family of three, it was very spacious, and everyone got their own bed, which made for a good night's sleep. It's a bit of a walk from the train station and the city center, but Takayama isn't that big, so you can get around quickly on foot. Just be aware that dining options near the hostel are quite limited, so you'll need to plan your meals.
