I am travelling for Mashiko pottery festival. The location is good for taking bus there. The hotel is next to JR station and bus station. There is public bath for leisure and relaxation at night.
Perfect spot if you are planning to go mashiko pottery festival next year!
Get off at Kinugawa Onsen Station and walk about ten minutes across the bridge over the Kinugawa River to the hotel.
The hotel itself is a true gem from the bubble era.
The lobby offers free drinks, including a variety of draft beers, hi-pops, and red and white wines starting in the afternoon, which is quite rare. Karaoke is also free until 7 PM.
The buffet is quite extensive, but you can't bring drinks into the lobby; if you want to drink anything, you need to purchase it separately!
However, upon entering, I noticed a small insect crawling on my salmon sushi... emmmmmmmm, a rare point of demerit for hygiene.
The hotel doesn't have a free shuttle to the station, only a paid local shuttle.
I stayed for two nights, mainly for the baths and breakfast. My goal was to relax and unwind.
The bath was smaller than I expected, and the water was lukewarm, which was a bit disappointing. Maybe it was because I had high expectations.
As for breakfast, it was a 1. The white rice in particular didn't seem to be cooked properly, so it wasn't tasty. That might have been a fatal flaw. Next to it were about 20 different bottles of soy sauce, which shows attention to detail, but it felt like they missed a key factor.
The room had a Daikin air conditioner, so it felt just like home. It was well-cleaned, and while they tend to do light cleaning for guests staying multiple nights, I was grateful for the thorough cleaning.
The area is a bit far to walk to, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. On the first day, I walked to Sano Ramen, and on the second day, I walked over 10 minutes across the street to Tairiku Shokudo for yakiniku.
Overall, it was a relaxing two-day trip that I enjoyed.
Every time I visit Utsunomiya, I stay here. It's right next to Utsunomiya Station, which makes getting around incredibly convenient. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and despite being close to the station, the environment is very quiet. Plus, there's a bus stop right outside the hotel for buses to Tokyo Narita Airport.
This hotel is truly wonderful, definitely worth staying at least once. The snow views are absolutely beautiful. I'll definitely come back again, and the breakfast was delicious. It'll be my top choice for my next trip to Japan!
There are many restaurants in Utsunomiya city, so it was fun at night and we went bar-hopping a lot. We were able to return to the hotel quickly and there was a convenience store nearby, so it was convenient. We stayed on the 12th floor, which felt luxurious. The card key and the nightgown on the hanger were nice, but the air conditioning was old and the vents were dirty, which made my throat hurt. The shower had weak water pressure, but the bathroom was spacious and that was fine. Are there many hotels these days that don't provide lotion-type amenities? Breakfast was expensive, so I went to a nearby bakery to buy some.
This is an excellent location with ample paid parking around, there are cheaper overnight parking around slightly further down from the hotel's partner parking lots.
Rooms were small and cozy with everything you need, staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. The bathroom however is rather small and not suitable for elderly.
The free breakfast provided in the lounge area is a variety of pastries and breads, you can take one to go as well.
The room was spacious and very clean. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style with a wide variety of options. The steak at dinner was particularly tender and delicious. The hotel's private onsen can be reserved, and soaking in a private space was very comfortable. There's also a show at 8:30 PM. It's great value for money and highly recommended.
The hotel is new and clean, with a variety of facilities suitable for families. It features large indoor and outdoor baths, a large free parking lot, and spacious, comfortable Japanese-style rooms. The price is reasonable and offers excellent value.
Sheltered all the way from utsunomiya station.. even though it's right by train station, the room we had was extremely quiet. The decor and lightings abit dark. Coin laundry available. Overall,we appreciate the convenience of the location as it's surrounded by malls. We walked 6 mins to the car rental place to explore Nikko. There's also light rail station ( just a few stops to Bell Sakura onsen)

Very Good
GGuest UserWe loved the breakfast. Simple and nice. The lounge is also interesting with free flow of drinks and popsicles during evening time. The hotel is situated on a quiet street so be sure to pack your own snacks as there is no convenience store nearby. Room is spacious for family of 4.
GGuest UserI don’t understand why someone would leave a negative review due to their own negligence. Trip.com clearly mentioned the additional 300-yen tax (I assume this is the onsen tax) per person, yet they still claimed they were “scammed.”
My overall experience at Hotel Euro City was wonderful. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the shuttle bus service was amazing. If you want to get to the hotel easily, check the shuttle schedule on the hotel’s homepage so you don’t have to walk from the station. They run it every day at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, and 18:15 from “Nikko Station Hotel Classic,” right next to JR Nikko Station.
The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen in the backyard was great. It’s true that the room had a mild smell, but I assume it was due to recent pest control (it smelled like pesticide). Just open the windows for a while and it goes away.
Breakfast was okay—not as fancy as in the advertisements, maybe because it wasn’t peak season. Overall, I think this is a very good choice, especially if you’re traveling with family.
GGuest UserWe were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Kaniyu Onsen.
The journey there was a Jochen Schweitzer experience in itself! By train from Kita Senju to Kinugawaonsen (1.5 hours), then by bus to Meotobuchi (1.5 hours) and then by Onsen Shuttle (20 minutes). Booking on site without knowing Japanese was an adventure! But everything worked out perfectly, thanks in part to the very helpful women at the tourist information office and what a beautiful landscape during the journey!
When we arrived at the Onsen, English was spoken quite well and everything was explained in detail. One thing that was very important to us was that tattoos are tolerated, but you should be considerate of the other visitors. This means that you can swim when there is no one else in the pool or cover it with a towel. We didn't go into the large communal pool until very late. Before that we had only been in the small pools, where you are not seen very much.
The dinner is also very unusual. As a European you have to get involved in it and for me, who doesn't eat fish, it was a bit of a challenge. But you only experience something like that once, so they do it!!
We thought it was great and would come back anytime! Thank you for the great time!
GGuest UserThe location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here
GGuest UserI had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The service was consistently excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who were always ready to help. The location is a major highlight—convenient, easy to access, and close to many attractions, shops, and restaurants. Overall, it offers great comfort and value, and I would happily stay here again.
玩玩转星球-KevinThe most important buffet dinner during the stay was served very late, and the dishes were often empty, which is very rare in Japan.
Because it was less than 700 yuan and included two meals, although the hotel had many flaws, it was understandable, but the faucet in the room seemed to be broken, and the water flow was not smooth, which should be replaced.
Overall, this room was acceptable.
AavlatkaIt is far from Tobu Niko station and relatively close to the main attractions. Of the pluses, two private onsens can be accommodated in two or three. One is laid out with a tile, the other is stone (used by a great demand, understandable case). If you take the onsen, no one will enter it anymore. To let the guests know whether the onsen is free and which special signal lamps are made, it is convenient. The Onsens work from 16 to 23 hours, so it is impossible to get down in the morning. Like I think, the water is cold and the rooms are closed - I love outdoors.
The breakfast was unexpected, but they are fed exclusively with different baking (for a long time, so many tests have not eaten). It is also possible to buy frozen dishes for cheap and immediately distribute them in a microwave.
In the bathroom and toilet room, the yucata is issued on demand.
A beautiful living room where you can sit in the evening (if not too many guests). Here, where to sit in the street evening, it is not very clear, because near the Onsens there is a smoke zone with shops, but there is not a very nice smell.
AAnonymous UserThis was my first time staying at a Hoshino Hotel in the Kai series, and I was very satisfied. The ”Kai” hotel in Nikko, especially the cable car, is definitely worth the experience. The hotel is very close to the station, seemingly nestled in the mountains, but it's actually just a short walk from the hot spring town. It's bustling yet secluded.
The decor is a distinctly Japanese style, combining minimalism with a wabi-sabi vibe. I personally love it. Those who enjoy this series will appreciate it, but those who prefer extravagant and elaborate décor wouldn't recommend it; they'll be disappointed.
The hotel also offers free coffee and tea, as well as unlimited juice and ice cream, so children will have more fun than adults. The hot springs are incredibly beautiful. During cherry blossom season, the hot springs are right outside, and during autumn foliage season, the mountain courtyard is filled with vibrant colors.
Overall, the hotel isn't large, resembling a small resort, but it's packed with details, views, and activities. There are free evening performances, the kaiseki dinner is exquisite, and the Japanese breakfast is also very delicious. A hotel worth experiencing: upscale yet not intimidating, the service is very pleasant.
In addition, there are a lot of fun theme parks and attractions nearby in just five minutes’ drive. This is also the reason for the recommendation.
NNGUYEN TUHotel Route-Inn Kanuma is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a comfortable and convenient stay. GGuest UserThe room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the view was great. The free cocktail and coffee services in the lobby were nice, as well as the free drink bar (including one beer per person) near the entrance to the hot spring. The paid massage service was also good. The meals were decent, especially the grilled beef, which simply melted in my mouth. The restaurant staff welcomed us warmly and provided friendly service.
Cons: The variety of hot springs was lacking, and the view from the hot springs was almost blocked, which was disappointing. The lockers for valuables used combination dials, and foreign guests often didn’t know how to use them, locking their room keys inside and struggling to reopen them. This was a major inconvenience. They should switch to a key-and-wristband system like other onsen hotels.
The room itself felt like an old, once-grand mansion that had seen better days. The furniture had many scratches, and the surfaces were worn and peeling. It made me think it must have been impressive in the past. Still, the room was definitely more spacious compared to other hotels.
