Just amazing! We flew into Glasgow from Australia to have our wedding at Sherbrooke Castle last week and it was everything we could have imagined and more! We booked our wedding a few months out from our planned date after originally having booked another venue who were very unresponsive. I am so glad we decided to change to Sherbrooke! Claire was amazing in helping us plan from another country and made planning our day smooth and easy and was always available to answer our questions. William was a bride and grooms dream on the day always by our side and making sure we had everything we need. The hotel itself was amazing - beautiful rooms, beautiful grounds and the food was incredible. But the staff make this place even more magical. Thank you Claire, William and the rest of the staff at Sherbrooke for helping us have the best day of our lives. We will definitely be back to stay at the hotel whenever we are in Glasgow. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Glasgow or having a wedding.

I had booked the last available room here after buying Ed Sheeran tickets for myself and 7yo daughter. I was delighted at being able to secure accommodation such a short distance away - only a 10min walk! For my purpose the room was fine, although I did find the bed pretty hard but a mattress is like Marmite- some people will love it, others will hate it. I’ll admit, to my mind and based on my room alone (I can’t speak for other rooms) this wouldn’t be my choice for a long term stay but for an overnight visit it was fine. Dimitri on the front desk is worth a special mention as he is extremely welcoming, polite and cheery. I had been a bit of an eejit and hadn’t read all the booking instructions but Dimitri was very understanding, took pity on me and gave me a little leeway. So again, another big thank you to him.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but in this case I feel it necessary to warn other would-be guests. I wish I’d read the recent reviews but didn’t. Check-in was fine and the chap behind the desk was friendly and professional. Infact all of the staff I met were courteous and a credit to the company. That’s where the positives end. The room I was allocated was 127. The first thing that hit me (and continued to hit me for my entire time spent in that room) was the smell. Bleach - which was designed to cover up a very unpleasant underlying problem (drains?) I didn’t have much time to spare and should’ve refused to accept the room but thought I could sort it by opening a window. Next problem - window is not designed to be opened but I managed to get it to slightly open enough to get some air in. I had to be at another place fairly quickly so left the room with the window open (I was in the 1st floor) and returned about 9pm. Parking was difficult because there was football on at the training pitch next door and I had to park round the back of the hotel because the main car park had been taken over by people attending the football. I went back to my room and the smell was as bad as ever. I closed the window because the noise from the traffic on the adjacent M8 was loud. I tried to sleep. The room was hot and stuffy, the aircon unit (although in place) wasn’t activated (boy at Reception had said to a previous complainant that it was fitted but doesn’t operate), the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable and I had a dreadful night’s sleep. I basically kept waking up and had to open the window in the end and trade that off against the noise from outside traffic. Next morning I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. The shower was basically ok but the smell was overpowering from the drains. I have been disappointed with Premier Inns generally for a while now (when I use them which is pretty rarely to be honest) but this one was particularly bad. I chose to stay here as opposed to a decent Glasgow hotel because of proximity to the hospital in Paisley where I was visiting a sick relative. I wish I’d just gone with Plan A and will do so in future. I spent a lot of money on this too (£125). I could’ve got a decent hotel in Glasgow for that. What has happened to Premier Inns? They used to be clean, functional and pleasant places to stay offering great value for money. Now they are tatty, worn and extremely overpriced. So disappointed.

I really wanted to leave a great review for this hotel. We stayed for an ultimate spa break to celebrate my daughter finishing her exams and leaving school. She was really looking forward to it. Our initial impressions were good, the grounds are beautiful and the reception staff were attentive and friendly. When we reached our room we were a bit disappointed as the room wasn’t to the same standard as other McDonald hotels we have stayed in and sadly that became our constant thought throughout the whole stay. The decor is very tired and the whole place could do with an overhaul. Paper peeling from walls, we had tissue paper stuck underneath the handles on the windows to keep them closed. The relaxation room of the spa was horrible as the ceiling looked mouldy and the paper was peeling off the walls. We had dinner the first night. We had looked at the menu online however it was totally different when we went into the restaurant and the choices weren’t great. We ordered cocktails and both agreed they were the worst cocktails we had ever had, they cost £9.95 each and I didn’t drink mjne at all. Breakfast the next morning was shambolic, there was 8 of us in the restaurant and the staff were running around like headless chickens saying they were so busy and tables weren’t cleaned, we waited a ridiculous length of time to order our food and it took forever to come. We had afternoon tea booked as part of the deal, again it wasn’t great. It had obviously been made well in advance of our booking time and the break on the sandwiches were hard and the cakes cheap and uninteresting. We ate out elsewhere our second evening. We both enjoyed our spa treatments which helped rescue the weekend. Breakfast on our final morning was better as it was a buffet style although we had to wait ages to ask staff for plates as there were none available to lift up (apparently the plate warmer was broken so they weren’t leaving plates out). I think that the staff of Crutherland House are doing the best they can however something has gone wrong with the running of this hotel and it needs attention . We wouldn’t recommend it to friends and next time will go somewhere else

I get what this hotel is trying to do, but it doesn't do it that well! I had good communication prior to my stay, a few texts reminding me. I liked the self check in screen, saves time. The room itself was supposed to be a 'queen' but it was extremely cramped, the bed was a small double at best and there was a weird single bunk bed over the double, which made the room feel so small and oppressive. Floor to ceiling windows in the bathroom were inconvenient. There was a door joining my room to the next which was less than ideal. The whole hotel was very noisy, you could hear doors opening and closing all over the place. There was a lot of noise coming from the room next door which was made worse by the door, as this let more noise in. The party eventually stopped about 3am. This wasn't just me, my colleague had to ask someone to come up and stop a party in the hallway at 1am and he was 2 floors up. No kettle, no water, pretty basic room. This would do for one night maximum IF there was nowhere else.

We chose to stay here as it was cheaper than staying in Glasgow Centre.. The rooms are standard premier inn rooms. The bed was comfortable, however, smaller than expected. For some reason, we had to ask for another set of towels that was only given one, even though the room was booked for 2 adults. The bathroom wasn't very clean, but useable There is no air-conditioning or lifts within the hotel..There is a table table restaurant next door. But keep your options open as there is also Costa, Starbucks, KFC, and McDonald's all within walking distance.. The closest station is a 10-minute walk away, which makes it easy access to both Dalmarnock for Celtic Park and Glasgow Central Station.. Cheap for overnight stay for football, would stay again.

Stayed here for one night to attend a gig. First night away as a married couple without the baby! The hotel Is very easy to find excellent location. 24 hour reception was handy as we didn't get back from the gig until very late. The drinks options at the bar were excellent and very reasonably priced. The bed was comfy the room and bathroom were absolutely spotless. I really liked the fact that you had to use an electricity card for power in the room this is a fantastic initiative. The disabled access to the rooms and hotel make it easy to manage around. The handle on the toilet door was the easiest to use and it meant that you couldn't lock yourself in a phobia I have had since young. The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious and a huge variety to select from - pastries, cereals, hot food, toast, yogurts and a variety of drinks. Check out was simple and easy. Staff were wonderful.

Thank you to the staff, as a solo traveller I was quite nervous but I felt so safe. Check in was smooth and friendly. The hotel is clean, stylish and smart. You need your room key to use the lifts so I felt so safe going to my room. I stayed in a double room and it was so spacious! Everything was tidy and well placed. Even though there was a fun fair on the next street it didn’t really bother me when I shut the window. It was my first time staying in an apart-hotel and I would definitely recommend! I didn’t know that having ice in the freezer and cutlery would make me so happy haha. I could chill my water and have a lovely meal in my room without having to fork out for a more expensive takeaway. I used the Tesco express down the street to get myself fresh food. The bathroom had a lovely heated towel Rail too so I had the warmest, fluffiest towel! Down in the lobby they have a Brita water filter, board games, extra kitchen equipment and food and drink. Will certainly return if I ever visit Glasgow again!

In the UK for ten days, we were the only hotel that included breakfast. We were not disappointed. The breakfast was very rich. There were also staff cleaning every day. There was a gym and a swimming pool. It gets dark earlier here, and it gets dark at five o'clock. After dinner , take a break, just in time for fitness, swimming needs to be reserved at the front desk.

I booked for 2 nights 15th- 17th September for leisure purposes. It was my 40th birthday and my husband had bought tickets to see Kevin Bridges at the Hydro next door. As a special occasion, we booked a Suite & decided to stay longer to make a nicer and relaxing stay. I booked via Booking.com earlier in the year. Extremely easy to get to the Hotel, easy to park & clear signage. Like the walkway into the hotel itself which kept us off the road and the parking tablets on Reception made the process very easy. (Not always a given in a City Centre Hotel - so appreciated) Check In- extremely efficient and staff were brilliant. Was disappointed to be notified that the swimming pool was closed & would be shut the following day from 1430. It was part of the reason I’d chosen the hotel over others in the area. Unfortunately got to the room and it wasn’t a suite. Went back down to Reception & issue was quickly resolved (thank goodness- over £200 per night for a standard double was not what I was quoted when first looking at room options) I received a drinks voucher for 2 due to inconvenience which I thought was a kind gesture. Suite- (1106) Liked the space & loved the views over the River Clyde & beyond. Carpets were stained in multiple areas, cupboards broken on all units, remote control for the TV in living space didn’t work, room service menu was filthy with food marks, and carpets were dirty under the furniture where I presume it was trickier to get a hoover although still very visible. There were bits of debris & dust under the unit in the living space. Even more off putting was opening a bottle of sparkling water provided and finding it had already been opened and someone had clearly taken a swig already. Bar- Decided to go and use our drinks vouchers in the Bar before getting ready for the show. Waited with staff not acknowledging us & talking whilst unloading the dishwasher. When eventually served, was advised I couldn’t have a cocktail due to the show next door. I have no idea of the rationale of this policy but didn’t want to question further. I recognise it’s not the bar staff that write the policies & didn’t want to cause any bad feeling. I asked for a large white wine instead & was then informed that I couldn’t have a large size with the drinks voucher & a medium was then promptly served. I would understand if I’d asked for a Dalmore 62 or a pint of Vodka, but I thought 75 ml extra of wine was tight & poor customer experience especially in the circumstances considering the voucher being received in the first place. I was then asked by the Bar Staff member “Let me guess, you got the voucher due to a problem with the room?” I agreed. “ Doesn’t surprise, this isn’t a good hotel” was the response. When sitting in the bar, I noticed other guests were clearly being served cocktails. I felt extremely put out by this & added to my overall bad impressions of the hotel. Next morning- breakfast in the club lounge- Helped myself to cereal, yo

Having stayed here a few times before due to its location and reasonable price, I was left disappointed this time. I had booked this hotel because for some reason every hotel in Glasgow that weekend was unusually expensive. Hotels I would have expected to pay >£100 were £150/180. The jury’s was £111. A warm welcome from reception staff and the main lobby is modern and clean. The room we were allocated (618) was a bit dated. It was spacious because it was an accessible room, not at our request so maybe why it was cheaper than others. The above two points didn’t really bother us because it was just somewhere to sleep as we were attending a gig. Unfortunately we did not sleep very well. The windows didn’t do enough to soundproof the outside street noise, the walls were paper thin and you could hear the neighbours talking, plugging and unplugging electrical items- all minor quiet stuff which you shouldn’t really be able to here. Our room had a buzzing noise coming from the vent in the room which kept us awake til 7.30am… and then the neighbours started getting ready to check out. We never complained during the night because we were so tired after being out all night and the noise was intermittent so just when you thought you were back to sleep, it started again. The room was clean but as I said dated, and for this reason I don’t think I’d chose to stay here again.

My wife and I planned a night out in Glasgow for our friends 40th birthday and booked this hotel for the night. I must say this hotel wasn't what I was expecting the front of house staff were really friendly and professional however that manager needs to learn she is in her position because of the customers and she should learn to speak to the customer in a more professional manner. In the space of 10 minutes while we were checking in we both saw her being disrespectful to 4 different customers. THE BAR and RESTAURANT The choice of drinks were ok however there was no draft beer available. They also had cocktails in the fridge however the barman refused to sell any to us due to the management not allowing him to do so. We paid for morning breakfast and they had a choice of continental or hot breakfast. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. THE ROOM The room was very simple. It had a small TV with standard free channels. The issue I had with the room was the staff only put 1 towel in the bathroom. If there are 2 people staying it should be policy that you get 2 towels. I cannot recommend this hotel until these issues are fixed and I will not be returning.

Campanile Glasgow Secc - Hydro

Our trip to Glasgow was only to attend a concert at the SSE Hydro arena, so we booked our stay based upon that event. I found the Campanile Hotel online as one of the closest hotels surrounding the arena and the price was good compared to the other hotels, which was the main selling point. I read reviews that it was a ‘no frills’ hotel which was fine by me as we didn’t plan to be in the hotel other than to sleep and for breakfast. On arriving I knew we couldn’t check in until three but we arrived at one knowing there was a lounge area to hang out in until our room was ready. The bar didn’t open till half 2 which was slightly annoying and there wasn’t a great area for ‘lounging’ but fortunately we were informed by the person on the desk that a room may be available sooner if house keeping had finished, so we managed to get in to our room for half 1 which was good! I did unfortunately notice a group of girls trying to check in at half 1 after being told online they could pay for early check, only to find out on arrival that no such thing existed. Our room was basic but fine for what we needed the room for. Could have been cleaner but again, I didn’t expect much when I booked. The bed was comfy and the pillows were good. Considering we booked the hotel based on a concert it was a surprisingly quiet sleep once the event was over. We knew there could be a chance of other noisy guests but gone midnight the hotel quietened down and I had a good sleep. We were first down for breakfast at 7am. Breakfast was very basic, again, no frills but did the job with all the usual options of a hot breakfast buffet style and a few cereals/pastries. The hotel were happy to book us a taxi for our return to the airport which was useful. Going on my personal experience our trip to Glasgow and our stay at the Campanile was good, couldn’t have gone better BUT I was very aware of other visitors not having the same experience with a few visitors having issues checking in. The hotel couldn’t be better situated for events at the SSE so I would recommend based on location, but everything else I would mark as average at best.

The hotel is like a newly renovated hotel with a small door in the city centre. The location is good. It is within walking distance of George Square, Princes Street, Queen Station and coach station. Next to the hotel is a bar, like a hotel, the day the front desk said to go to the bar to eat and 10% off. I have already paid the fee online, but I have to take out the card and record the card number. The front desk said that it is only for confirmation and will not deduct the money. There is no deduction, but there is always a sense of insecurity in the leakage of information. Early arrival, free luggage storage, hotel elevator, narrow corridor, room space is OK, the double bed is small, and there are no two single beds, the room is adjustable, do not understand the size of the Europeans, why the bed is this size? The bar next to it is very awkward, but it seems to have stopped after 12:00, because it is too tired, not affected by the bar.

I've stayed here a couple of times. On the edge of Glasgow centre but an easy 10 minute walk. Really nice touches of design in the communal areas and in the bedrooms. I got upgraded to a suite which was very nice. Breakfast was excellent as was dinner in the same restaurant. Only negative was that the dinner service was sometimes a little slow.

The room is very big, there is a record player, coffee machine, so much love Hygienic: conditions are very good Environment: Near the University of Glasgow, next to the Botanic Garden, natural oxygen bar Service: Very good, warm and thoughtful. Breakfast is English bread, milk, coffee, etc. Although it is monotonous, it is really delicious.

I stayed in room 10 which is a single room for 4 nights. It is located at the back of the establishment by the kitchen and kitchen air vent. There was a continuous strong smell of cooking and stale cooking oil throughout the room and bathroom. You could also hear the noise of the industrial kitchen air vent throughout the day and into the evening, which was loud as by the window. No adequate ventilation in the main room or bathroom. Window in main room did not open. Bathroom window only opened if you put something to wedge it open. As the bathroom is directly at the back by the air vent opening the window meant letting in the cooking smells. The cooking smells stays in your clothing and hair, luggage. It was nauseating. Despite leaving the bathroom window open a few hours in the early morning, this did nothing to rid the room of the stale cooking odours. I complained and was offered a full refund of the cost of the room. Unfortunately I could not find anywhere else to stay. Agreed compensation was free breakfasts during duration of my stay. Seems like the done deal in this establishment. In the bathroom there was not a adequate blind at the window for privacy. This meant that the kitchen staff outback could easily see into the bathroom. I often heard them out back laughing and talking outside. There is no adequate lock on the bathroom window. It would be possible for someone to climb up the slope and into the room through the bathroom window. They played very loud music from the pub downstairs. Unfortunately room 10 is situated above this. It made it impossible to have a relaxing evening with this loud music going on into the evening. Housekeeping on the first day was not good. Only the wet towels were removed, new ones replaced. The full rubbish bin stayed unemptied in the room. The housekeeper even failed to remove an empty toilet roll. Housekeeping after that day was excellent and one could see the physical effects of the room having been cleaned. They have employed lots of younger staff. Who were mostly polite and friendly, a couple needed more training in customer service and communication. The food was tasty and well presented. Though as I could smell the rancid cooking oil smells in the room this put me off as to the actual cleanliness of the kitchen. The room/bathroom was newly renovated. The shower was excellent good water pressure and temperature. There was no adequate bins. Only a small bathroom bin in the main room. Nowhere to hang up your toiletries or to dry your towels in the bathroom. Unsure of the effect of one's health stayed in such an unventilated environment. Breathing in the stale kitchen smells. It was quite frankly nauseating. Perhaps health and safety should be informed about this and assess. I do not plan to stay here again and would not recommend booking a single room if you are a solo traveller. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

This hotel is beautiful. We booked a junior suite and we’re pleasantly surprised with the size of our ground-floor room. The decor is very nice, and we enjoyed the large tub in the bathroom. The hotel provides water, which was also appreciated, as well as tea and coffee. The price was reasonable, and it is just a 10 minute walk or so to the botanical gardens. If you go just a little further, you will hot many restaurants, pubs, and shops. The only negative was that it’s a bit far out from the center, so if you need to go back and forth, the cab fare may add up. I prefer the quiet of being away from the center.

I was slightly concerned with the negative reviews on tripadvisor - after I had booked a 3 night stay. I have previously stayed with Destiny in Edinburgh and the experience was excellent. Anyway, the checkin was faultless, code provided and effortless entry. The apartment was spotless and the furnishing / equipment were to a high standard. The location was perfect and any city noise was to be expected & something I had come to experience. Seriously, if you don't want to hear people having fun, going about their business - i don't think a city centre break is for you !!! the seagulls were very well behaved ! 5 stars for me and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Had a lovely overnight stay at this hotel. The staff were all very welcoming and professional. Forgot to get the girl's name who checked us in but she was amazing, very helpful and exactly the type of person you want as first point of contact for your business. The room was spacious, stylish and had an exceptionally comfortable bed. Definitely look forward to staying here again and would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay over in Glasgow. It is a short walk from both Queen Street/Central train station and Buchanan bus station.

The city center is cheap and there is a bar on the first floor. And it's 20-30 meters away from the train station center where I'm going to the meeting. This geographical location is absolutely amazing. The house is consistent, always English, but the security is very good, there is a bathtub in it, but the heating is not sure if it is broken or I will not use it.

Perfect location surrounded by a lot of restaurants and pubs. A nearby bus stop to go to the airport. The room was not 100% clean and the furniture looked a bit old. Sometimes it was a bit noisy as you can hear clearly when others walked and talked in the hallway but I didn’t mind so much as the prices were very reasonable! I didn’t try the breakfast but the area looked very comfy!
