Brentwood Inn Richmond South

"I stopped here for one night to sleep and shower on a long road trip from FL to PA. I always base my lodging reviews on the purpose it was booked for, and this was fine. Despite the few things I will note, I will probably stay here again if I am only looking for a place to sleep and don't care about a pool. It was very easy access off I-95 and back on again. There is a 7-11 next door where we got some bfast items and gas before we left in the morning. The lobby was closed when we arrived (around 11:30pm), but there is a night window outside. The lady working was very nice, and she even double checked that the room we were pre-assigned was not occupied. I had called earlier in the day and requested a ground floor room since there is no elevator. There was a sign on the window that said reservations are needed (no walk-ins). I noticed the chest of drawers was quite large, so I opened one. The smoke detector was in there. I looked up, and saw the wire hanging from the ceiling (see pictures). That made me a little nervous, but it was midnight and we would be leaving around 8am. Upon an actual inspection of the bathroom, I noticed a white knob in the corner of the floor by the tub. Turns out it was the bolt cover for the toilet. I moved it, and there was hair underneath it, so it wasn't properly cleaned. There was more hair on the floor by the toilet (see pictures). The rest of the room seemed clean, and my socks were NOT black in the morning, so obviously the floors had been cleaned. Seems like the staff took a shortcut in the bathroom; albeit the tub was clean as well. The shower had good pressure. I always bring my own amenities, so I cannot comment on if there was even shampoo provided. I had put some water bottles in the "freezer" to get cold for the next day and they were frozen! They were only in there for about 6 hours! Mini fridge works well! The beds seemed comfy and the a/c worked well (which is scarce for motels), but the pillows leave a lot to be desired. I'm glad I had brought my own. I slept well. The room served the purpose I was looking for, and for the price, I expected much less. I will stay again."
