Country Inn Walker ★★★

📍 442 Walker Bay Blvd, Walker

"I had booked through trip.com, it didn't give me the option to let them know we had a dog. So originally booked a 2 queen bed and 1 pull out couch Suite. We got there and they said the suite wasnt pet friendly so we got downgraded and had to get a cot and the room was smaller obviously but the room actually costed more with the $40 pet fee than the the price of the suite."

Maddens on Gull Lake ★★★★

📍 11266 Pine Beach Peninsula, East Gull Lake

"We had a FABULOUS vacation at Madden's this weekend, and we will definitely be back again this summer! All of the staff we encountered were very good and super friendly including the people at the check-in desk, the wonderful servers, Amanda tending to the beach, the bartenders at the pool bar, etc. We stayed in the main hotel and enjoyed golfing, massages at the spa, the outdoor pool and the beach. Everything you need is on the resort! The restaurants were very impressive with quality menu items and many, many gluten free options, which our family needs. Our Madden's weekend is a family tradition, and we are very lucky to have such a neat resort here in Minnesota."

Lost Lake Lodge
9.0 (43 reviews)

Lost Lake Lodge ★★★

📍 7965 Lost Lake Road, Lake Shore

"Girls weekend at the frozen lake. We stayed in Cabin 5 and absolutely loved it — four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a TV in every room, and a beautiful view of the lake. We’re already talking about coming back for our next getaway. We did have a minor issue with the fireplace (the previous occupants had turned it completely off), but the maintenance man came and figured out the problem quickly. Our interactions with the staff were great. Special shout out to Jonah in the restaurant. He makes super yummy cocktails and is a total sweetheart!! The food was great, the beds were comfy, and overall we had an amazing stay."

Walker Hotel ★★
"Hotel rooms are dated bathrooms had mould and rust in them It was advertised that breakfast was provided, and we were expecting a hot breakfast with perhaps a chef or cook on hand and some type of service but it was a continental breakfast and probably the most major continental breakfast I have ever enjoyed. Saying it was a hotel and not a motel one would think you were getting more bang for your buck,  They were charging rates twice as expensive as a super eight motel, and they certainly weren’t any better. I would not stay there again."

Horseshoe Bay Lodge ★★
"I can't say enough about this gem! My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon and I was so excited to do this review. We had our wedding at Horseshoe Bay Lodge and the experience was incredible. Cameron and Courtney, Danni, Fish...all the staff were wonderful. They were so awesome to work with and I could tell they worked very hard to make sure we were all taken care of. This place and these people went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. Cameron helped us coordinate fishing boats so the guys could go fishing on Friday morning. Danni and Fish helped me put together the catering and were flexible. I had a few guests who weren't able to make it and they adjusted and even threw in a few things on the house, even though they weren't obliged to do so! Jason and I plan on coming back every year. The food was absolutely delicious, the rooms were comfortable, and everything was accessible and easy for our guests. We rented the courtyard suites for 3 nights. Some of my guests told me it was so nice to stay in a place where everyone seemed to love their jobs and each other! Thank you for your kindness, your patience, and most of all, your incredible hospitality. I would recommend this place to anyone!"

Maddens on Gull Lake ★★★★
"I've been taking my family to Madden's ever since our oldest was born. Our kids are 9 and 7 and it's the highlight of their summer to go there. A few things we love about Madden's: - Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. We especially love the staff at Mission Point, who always make dinners special (be sure to meet Paul the bartender) - Food is fantastic. Our kids love the breakfast buffet, the Classic Grill (my son's pick for his birthday) and Mission Point. The ice cream store is also a hit - Facilities are great. The pools are really nice, as is the area by the tennis club. The rooms are really nice. Ours had a view of the golf course and a very spacious layout - Activities are fun. This year my kids really got into the medallion hunt and scavenger hunt. The beach with the waterslide is also amazing. My son took a golf clinic and the instruction was absolutely top notch We're already looking to book for next summer."

Lost Lake Lodge ★★★
"My family made vacation trips to Lost Lake pretty regularly when it was owned by Bill & Ethel Mae Carter decades ago. It was a quaint resort with meals and a dozen or so simple cabins and aluminum canoes and flat-bottomed john boats you could use to row around the little lake and maybe catch a few fish. The boat dock and canoes and rowboats that used to be on Lost Lake are all gone. I don't think visitors can go out onto the lake anymore. Today, the quaint old cabins are gone - bulldozed - and replaced by modern condos/duplexes, big enough to house a large family. One "lot" has a number of tree stumps on it and it looks like they're going to build still another unit there. Some of these condos/duplexes are for sale and some are already privately owned. There is quite a bit of paved parking now, especially near the largest condos/duplexes. The exterior style of the new condos does not match the color, size, or style of the main lodge or the original cabins. The main lodge still looks the same as it did when I was a kid. This is not the quaint, warm Lost Lake Lodge of my childhood. It does not feel like a resort anymore - it looks more like a small, modern housing development and I think that may be the owner's goal - to make a lot of money divvying up the property into lots, building condos on the lots, then selling them. Who knows? Maybe you'll like this new Lost Lake Lodge. For me, though, it has completely lost its vacation nature getaway feel. I certainly will never return. Peaceful? Solitude? If you can ignore the sounds of construction on the property and the construction noises. I think the rental cabins we discovered in Itasca State Park near Bemidji today show promise."
