"I've had the pleasure of staying at this resort three times now, and each visit has been delightful due to its stunning location. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed. During my last stay, I left my iPad behind in the villa, and despite the device being connected and its location accurately pinned to the villa, it was not returned. This incident has been a valuable learning experience for me, highlighting that even in “luxurious” settings, honesty is not guaranteed. This incident has certainly tarnished my overall impression."

"⭐ 0/5 — EXTREMELY DISTURBING & UNSAFE Resort Our worst resort experience ever. During our 2-night stay at Golden Sands Destination Resort in Daanbantayan, our nanny was taking a shower at around 9:26 PM when she noticed a PERSONS HEAD PEEPING through our bathroom window. She was terrified and called me immediately since I was at the resort's restaurant. We rushed back & arrived in 2 minutes to our room and realized the resort's only security guard on duty that night, SG Bernard Ducanes, was just approximately less than 10 meters from our room in a dark area. He told us he was the only resort personnel on duty and that he was "roving." We then discovered an assembled scaffolding right outside our bathroom window, providing access to the window. We took photos and even inspected the area to understand what could be seen from the inside & outside. The most alarming part? There was no receptionist or management to report to after 9 PM. The entire 25-hectare resort was apparently being covered by only one security guard. We couldn't ask for help from him because he was the only 1 around. We tried calling the resort's numbers but received no answer. We had to contact people outside the resort to help us reach management because we no longer felt safe staying there with our children. The security guard also acted alarmed & called an extra security guard with him, but we didn't feel safe at all. We then let our nanny come out of the room & pinpoint which security guard out of the 2 did she see through silhouette of the guard, without knowing who was on duty at the time of incident, she then pointed to the same guard who was less than 10 meters away from our room, without hesitation & that she's very sure! We felt helpless waiting for someone to come because the only personnel we could reach out to was the one lurking! After about an hour, a manager finally arrived. We requested to be moved to another room, but the resort claimed they were fully occupied. The manager then offered to move us to Kandaya resort if there was availability & they would arrange it. After another 30–45 minutes, he returned with an alternative—but the room he described turned out to be a staff room within the resort. He never called Kandaya for any availability. At approximately 11:30 PM, after no acceptable solution was provided, we arranged assistance elsewhere and transferred to Kandaya resort. The following day, management told us our room charges were ₱9,500 and that our unstayed room was ₱9,000, with the remaining ₱500 still subject to approval since they have "compensated" our 9k room. After an incident involving a serious breach of privacy and our family feeling unsafe, the focus seemed to be on the money rather than properly addressing what had happened. All they can tell us was that the security guard was not on his post within a 10 minute window & that they have given preventive suspension. This was far beyond a bad hotel stay. It was a serious safety and priva"

"This is a great location if you want to chill out. There are no roosters, and the road noise isn't too bad. But you need to go to the town to eat. It looks like it hasn't been finished because the room has good fixtures but needs a cupboard and hot water (it wasn't too cold ) The service was helpful. ."

"The nicest Resort we’ve been to in the three weeks spent around Philippines by bike! The resort really cares about the environment, included sea life. They succeeded in protecting the beach and the sea, in fact we could swim with so many sharks, such an emotion!!! Fishes, corals, everything lives in front of the resort! Not a single plastic thing found in the sea or on the beach, also the sea is very clean!! Of course, they’re Italian so the food is the perfect mix of Italian quality and philippines ingredients! Thanks again Andrea and Silvia, you did an amazing job with the resort and we wish you all the best luck for your future!"
Malapascua Starlight Resort ★★
"Honeymooners looking for palm trees and a jacuzzi? Not for you. Located just steps from the beach and close to the market, it offers simple but ideal accommodations, especially for athletes. The family who runs it lives there and ensures constant attention. Our room was large, immaculate, and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had a perfect shower (when we arrived, the showerhead was encrusted with limescale and a burned-out lightbulb. Everything was fixed immediately). The refrigerator was quiet, but the AC was noisy. Leaving it on at night is a good way to catch bronchitis. Comfortable terrace. Small safe. Drinking water available from dispensers. No breakfast, but in any case, the alarm for diving trips is between 4 and 5 AM, and breakfast is served at the diving center. There's a kettle in the room, but you have to buy coffee at the market (single-serve Nescafe for 3 pesos, 5 for foreigners...). The market restaurants are just steps away, for a fresh seafood dinner. There's been talk of the "karaoke problem nearby": indeed, it sometimes happens, but we're so tired in the evening that we barely hear it in bed. Good value for money. Recommended."

Malapascua Exotic Island Dive Resort ★★★
"It was long journey heading to Malapuscua but was pleasantly surprised by the warmth and welcome provided by the staff and dive crew of Malapuscua Exotic Island Dive Resort. Accommodation and dining was great. Dives were excellent with a professionally run dive center and our fantastic dive guide Wil. A dramatic trip it was however, where we had an unfortunate incident where one in the group was unwell and had to be hospitalised, needing immediate medical attention made worse by weather that had taken a turn. Am just grateful, that the staff of Exotic, in particular, General Manager RJ and Dive Centre Manager Julius coordinated evacuation from the island smoothly and managed to get us to a hospital in Cebu Mainland in time. RJ, really went beyond his responsibilities giving us significant assistance at the hospital and really saw it that my friend was well taken care of the Hospital Check-in till Check-out. Entire weekend of his own time went into attending to us with great patience and care. Many thanks RJ - We greatly appreciate your kindness and patience here. Definitely a place to revisit and to see our new found friends now at the resort. See you guys soon - gotten great pics and videos of the Thresher at Kimud Shoal but I still want to see the Tiger Shark at Monad Shoal :)"

Blue Corals Beach Resort
"Ideally located for diving. If you are looking for a cheap but decent place, this is it. The bads: The cleaning was not great, and the sheets had permanent stains. The staff at the reception were not very friendly nor profesional. They don't serve neither lunch nor dinner. Now the positives: The rooms have an option AC (recommended), and fresh towels are given every two days. Ideally situated, close to all restaurants and Diving centers. Maintenance staff were very nice and helped us out often. Tip: to be a good guest, turn off your AC when you are not in the room (they acknowledge and appreciate it)."
Buena Vida Resort and Spa
"Was to stay 3 nights but due to Cyclone and possibility of being stranded on island only stayed one night. Room had two twin beds and very nice balcony with hammock, couch and chairs. You face an inside wooded area with other rooms. Chickens are very loud in the morning. Shower is nice, shampoo and body wash provided, no conditioner. Beds were small and a bit shaky, also bed on right you had to move to get at plug to try and charge your electronics. We only slept there one night but I awoke with a tingly sensation in my hand which ended up turning into about 20 welts. It was the hand I sleep on under my pillow so unsure what bug got me (bedbugs, ants, ?) But since it didn't appear till after we left the island that day I couldn't look at the bed and try and figure it out. I know there were ants in the room since you could see them coming under the door but if it was ants I would think more than just my hand would have been bit. It is about a 6 minute walk to their breakfast and dive shop. We didn't dive with them or have breakfast due to early morning dive with Evolution. We did have dinner once and lunch once at Ocean Vida which was excellent. Didn't get to enjoy any of the amenities due to our short stay here."

"Had an amazing time diving with Mabuhay thresher dive! Arnel was extremely helpful and friendly, everything was very organised, we saw lots of thresher sharks and other marine life and overall was an incredible experience. Would recommend to anyone coming to Malapascua for diving!"
