"This is a delightful, authentic, and magnificiently peaceful place to stay in Guimaraes. When you arrive you are greeted by the exceptionally warm and kind owner whose family has owned the property for generations. It is an incredibly beautiful and historic building and each corner you look in has a unique pieces. The hotel has a winery and there is no more beautiful place to enjoy trying the wine than sitting by the pool looking out on the vineyards. This is not an incredibly fancy hotel, rather it is a country experience that really gives you a taste of life in Portugal. The entire experience far exceeding our expectations (was truly outstanding !) and we just wish we had planned to spend more time there. It is spotlessly clean and we can't wait to come back to spend more time at this truly unique and wonderful home. It is an experience not to be missed. "

"This s a long overdue but heartfelt review of a place of character and grace. The staff could not have been more accommodating: We had difficulty finding our way because the GPS on our rented motorcycle failed us. I can't be sure if it was Yolanda and Rita (and a gentleman whose name I don't remember) who met us in town and accompanied us to the hotel, but we were grateful and touched by how everyone extended themselves. Our downstairs living quarters overlooked a sweet square, breakfast was delicious, and right next door is an adorable cafe with a charming proprietress. Guimaraes is a worthy stop and Casa do Juncal is very special!"

"Do not be fooled by the photos. This place is somewhat jaded. Our room needed a refresh. And they are tight fisted. The complimentary water was a 330ml plastic bottle for two people to share. They said we had to pay if we wanted a second bottle. Breakfast was OK. Nothing special. Poorly lit corridors with 'invisible' steps that could easily cause a fall was also a concern. It is dangerous. We visit the area regularly but will not return to this hotel. You can get better places for similar prices. You have been warned. "
