Vinhomes Central Park
The highlight of this hotel is the view! It’s a beautify hotel with awesome view of HCM city if you stay at their high floor panoramic view room. Location wise it is located within the high end private apar**ent district which is slightly further from the city center. Grab ride took about 10mins - 15mins to reach the city center where all the major attractions are located. Beside the shopping mall which is link to the hotel and the park, there’s nothing much around this area. Overall a very nice property if you want to stay outside the bustling district 1 while not being too far away from the city center.

Which Part of Ho Chi Minh City is Best to Stay?

For American tourists, Ho Chi Minh City offers a variety of neighborhoods that cater to different tastes and interests. Here are three great areas to explore:

District 1 (Downtown)

This is the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, where you'll find many of the city's top attractions, including the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the War Remnants Museum, and the iconic Ben Thanh Market. It's bustling, vibrant, and packed with trendy cafes, restaurants, and bars, making it a perfect area for tourists who want to experience the city's energy and history.

District 3 (Le Van Tam Park Area)

For a more laid-back, local vibe, District 3 offers a charming mix of colonial architecture and green spaces. It’s great for strolling through peaceful parks, checking out unique cafes, and visiting hidden gems like the Jade Emperor Pagoda. This area is ideal for those who want to experience the local culture away from the hustle and bustle of District 1.

District 7 (Phu My Hung)

If you're looking for a modern, quieter area with international amenities, District 7 is the place to be. This neighborhood has wide, tree-lined streets, upscale shopping malls, and a more suburban feel. It's perfect for families or those who want a more relaxed, contemporary environment while still being close to the main tourist spots.

Ho Chi Minh City Transportation

Apart from what I've talked about above, here are some other ways to travel easily around Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Motorbike Taxis (Xe Ôm) are a popular and fast way to navigate the city's often congested streets. Available 24/7, fares are typically negotiable but generally range from 10,000 VND to 15,000 VND per kilometer (approximately $0.43 to $0.65). They are quick and flexible, but safety can be a concern, and it’s advisable to agree on a fare before starting the journey.
  • Cyclos are three-wheeled bicycle taxis that offer a leisurely way to see the city. They are ideal for short distances within the city center. While they provide a unique experience, they are slower and mainly for tourist use. Trip.com has designed a three-hour Cyclos tour for those enjoying glimpses of local, daily life in Sài Gòn.

  • Water Buses operate along the Saigon River, offering a scenic alternative to road transport. The main route runs from Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 to Linh Dong in Thu Duc City. Operating hours are from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Fares are 15,000 VND per trip (approximately $0.65). Water buses are scenic and avoid traffic, but their routes are limited.

Weather in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City has a tropical climate, making it warm and humid year-round. For American travelers, the weather may feel similar to summer in Florida. The city has two distinct seasons:

Dry Season (December to April): This is the best time to visit, with plenty of sunshine and minimal rain. Temperatures typically range from 77°F to 93°F (25°C to 34°C), so pack light, breathable clothing and sunscreen.

Rainy Season (May to November): Expect frequent but brief downpours, usually in the afternoons. While it’s more humid during this period, the rain helps cool things down. A travel umbrella or lightweight rain jacket will come in handy.
