"We spent a night in this hotel, Yes, it is a hotel not a resort. Girivihar seemed to be a recreational club once, now converted into hotel. Good things are that the rooms are spacious, campus is good with small garden etc with games facilities like TT, Carom. Not so good things: Expensive food. Though display said they have a pure veg restaurant, we were told there's no restaurant inside. Food is supplied from outside. Extra amount is charged for this service. A cup of tea is priced at Rs 25, while it costs only Rs 20 in Kamat Green house few kms away. So avoid buying food inside. There is a Gujarathi restaurant next to this hotel. We checked in at 5PM instead of 12 noon- still one of the rooms was not kept ready and they started cleaning it only after our arrival. The gates were not locked at night. No view. Hotel is located inside city, so there's no view of the valley or highway etc. View from hotel is basic. If you want resort like experience or view of kandala valley, book elsewhere I didn't see a swimming pool in the campus. (if it is somewhere else, not sure)"
