"The hotel is brand-new and affectionately furnished. Everything is very clean and the staff extraordinary friendly and courteous. They offered yoga classes 4 times a week. A great experience! "Beautiful resort right on the beach. Amazing staff, well equipped rooms and accurate service. Spotless clean, we felt at home from day one and the staff made our stay even more enjoyable. We strongly recommend Bahari villas, this accomodation is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Zanzibar. We booked a couple of excursion with mr Ben and everything was perfectly organized. "

"Everything about this wonderful hotel hits the mark - all the staff are really welcoming, helpful and conscientious; the layout of the hotel grounds - the pool, the restaurant, the bar, and the proximity to the beach are all so well placed to each other; the food from the breakfast buffet to the evening meal is excellent and varied; and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. After a week of traveling on safari this boutique hotel provided the perfect rest…"

"We had an amazing time at Villa Kiva on our honeymoon. The place was beautiful and we had a lovely room with incredible views of the beach. Everything was kept very clean and the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. There were lots of activities on offer and we were encouraged to do as little or as much as we desired. Food was good and there were plenty of vegetarian options. We liked how all the staff knew and remembered who we were. They made us feel very welcome and we are so grateful for the fantastic time we had."

"Staff and Manager smiling, available, attentive and very attentive (washed our car several times without asking). They anticipate our needs. Very nice hotel 2 minutes from the beach. The place is quiet and the view from the rooms is breathtaking. The bedding is a little hard but this can be explained by the fact that it is a new mattress. A hotel that deserves to be known. Book and Enjoy!"

"Booked full ocean view but received a 300usd cheaper room. If we stand outside in a corner we can see the ocean. Look a the pics taken from a chair on the porch. It is not even part ocean view. They refuse to pay us back the difference between the rooms. It is so easy to prove it is the wrong room, it does not even look like in their webpage. Do not choose this hotel, dishonest owners."

"What a place. I absolutely loved it here. I also loved all the people. All the staff are so friendly and chatted. They are very helpful and made are stay warm and welcoming. Paco is a diamond. Great company, works very hard and has built what I can only describe as paradise. The place is great value for money. All the food and drink is very reasonable. It’s about a 5 minute walk to Matamwe beach, where you can find alternative restaurants if you want to."

Boutique Villa Unaweza ★★★★
"We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Its close to the beach but not directly on the beach and it has a great pool area. The rooms were spacious and modern. I found that it lacked shelving or bench space for your luggage and there wasn't enough space for unpacking so your stuff ended up on the floor, but that was a minor detail. The pool area is the highlight of the hotel with lots of space to relax and close enough to the bar and restaurant area. The staff are helpful, especially Silvie who offers complimentary yoga classes and is knowledgable on tours and activities. I must say that the restaurant was overpriced for what they were offering and food took almost an hour to prepare (even frozen pizza bases) - also, we were a group of 10 and their kitchen couldn't cope with the orders for all 10 of us - so we never got our food together. By the time the last person received their food, the first person had been finished their dinner for a good 30 minutes."

Zanzibar Bahari Villas ★★★★
"This was, without a doubt, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We booked our stay ten months in advance and paid in full eight months before our arrival, yet it was nothing short of a disaster from the moment we arrived. Upon arrival, the manager failed to greet us properly. Instead, we were directed to sit on the sofas in the reception area without any explanation. It wasn’t until 1.5 hours later that we learned—from other guests in the same situation, not the staff—that our room had been overbooked. We were then shuttled to a half-finished hotel that didn’t come close to the standards of the hotel we had originally booked. We were assured this was a temporary arrangement and that we’d be moved to a villa near the booked hotel the next day. However, the following day we were taken to yet another substandard, half-finished building. This one had two small rooms with beds, an empty fridge, and little else. It felt as though the staff from the downstairs restaurant had been hastily evicted to make space for us. The building was infested with flies, lacked basic amenities like drinking water, towels, air conditioning, toilet paper, and WiFi, and appeared incomplete. The shower didn’t work, and there was even a man sleeping in the backyard. Worse still, it wasn’t anywhere near the hotel we had booked. Compensation wasn’t offered until we explicitly asked for it, and even then, all we received was free food for two days at the hotel. The service at the restaurant was slow, and our orders were frequently wrong. The food itself was mediocre at best. That said, the restaurant staff were very kind and welcoming, which was one of the few positives. When we finally got our room, there were no twin rooms available, so we had to settle for a double bed. While this was fine, the entire experience left a sour taste. The pool area was lovely, and the other guests were pleasant, but these were small comforts in an otherwise dreadful stay. This hotel has great potential, but based on our experience, it’s far from meeting even basic standards. I would not recommend it."

"Lovely hotel, great staff, always obliging and helpful. Quite rustic in parts. Everywhere a good standard of cleanliness. Meals were always amazing and plentiful. Only thing I would say was lacking was Coconuts which ate in abundance but not offered as a drink or a snack. Thank you to everyone at Kena Beach. Had an amazing holiday. Mandy & Keith Rogers"

Villa Kiva Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"Villa Kiva, Matemwa is an oasis down a dusty track outside the village. Its beautiful well-maintained garden leads to the main building, where staff are well-trained and attentive. The room we had booked was at the back, overlooking the surrounding scrubland, but when staff realised we weren’t thrilled, they moved us to a much better room facing the sea. There is a huge shady area to catch the breeze, which we found a life-saver as the beach was too hot to sunbathe. Food here is excellent - and not as expensive as the surroundings would suggest. We only stayed 2 days, as we were covering a lot of the island in a 3 week trip, but would be happy spending a couple of weeks holiday here, which is what a lot of people seem to do. The village itself has a few shops, but no ATM. Our only problem was nothing to do with the hotel, just a local hassle-merchant, who threatened violence after shouting ‘no photo’ when I was photographing the palm trees fringing the beach - with no people in the shot"

Zanoceanique Hotel ★★★
"This is a worst hotel in all of Zanzibar island. I am a Travel agency based in Arusha , Tanzania. This year I booked an accomodation for two french tourists for 8 days in this hotel Zanoceanique but they stayed only two nights and decided to shift to another hotel because this hotel , the bed mattress was very hard , my clients said they had an impression sleeping on a wooden board. They only slept 3 hours . Breakfast was not good there was not even a jam for breakfast . When they shifted to another hotel , I asked for refund for the days that my clients didn't stay but they refused to refund me while I have already paid back my clients 500 € . I reported them to the authority of Zanzibar but they still didn't refunded me. "
