Interlaken Inn ★★★
"I like it very much and will order again"
The White Hart ★★★★
"We've stayed in the White Hart before, and have always loved the ambiance, rooms, and food. However this time was so disappointing. We stayed in room 32, which was a lower level King bed suite in the separate cottage. The room itself was lovely. However, I would never stay here again. Starting in the early evening, and then again first thing in the morning, every single footstep in the upstairs room could be heard as though it was a herd of elephants. We finally called the front desk, who tried to help, and when the upstairs guests did not answer their phone, the staff member came over to knock on their door. They did have children who must have been constantly in motion, although the guests denied it. They may not have realized that in such an old buidling, every step can be heard below, and even when told, did not think it appropriate to try and restrain their children. While the hotel staff expressed their apologies (in the evening, and again when I mentioned it at checkout), nothing was done. Recognizing that guest behavior is out of the control of management, these upper floor rooms should not allow young children (unless some sort of sound proofing is added). These rooms are not inexpensive, and for a special evening away, we were sorely disappointed."
Cornwall Inn ★★★
"Overall ok. There is always a gap compared to the environment of domestic hotels"
Troutbeck ★★★
"Troutbeck fully lives up to its reputation. It is beautiful, well situated and has incredible service. Any question or request that we made was met with a “yes”. Julio at checkout was especially gracious, leaving me with such a great feeling as I checked out. Take advantage of everything on the property…ping pong, billiards, Pilates, tennis. It’s all there for you. Also, it is very close to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, which is fabulous! Thank you Troutbeck for making my daughter’s 30th birthday trip so memorable!"
The Alander ★★
Inn at Pine Plains ★★★
"This is the first time I have felt so nervous in more than ten years of staying in a hotel. When I arrived at the door of this inn, it was closed and there was a note asking me to go through the side door. There was another note on the side door asking me to go upstairs to find the room I booked and reminding me to lock the door. When I got to the second floor, I saw a note on the door of a room (the room I stayed in). Didn't see any staff the whole time. There was no one in the other three rooms on the second floor. When we went downstairs, there was a check-in front desk and living room, a kitchen (with the door closed), and four other rooms with closed doors. There was no one in the whole INN. We were the only family in the whole INN, and it was on the roadside in a small town. We repeatedly confirmed that the door was closed at night. I thought I would be able to see the staff and have breakfast the next morning, but when I went downstairs at almost 9 o'clock in the morning, there was still no one there. I called the hotel three times (they said they could transfer to the owner's cell phone), but only the front desk phone was connected and I couldn't get through. We had to take out half a bottle of milk from the refrigerator and eat it with the dry cereal on the living room table. Is this the 4.9 positive review I saw on Ctrip? ! Hurry up, I left the key in the room, closed the door, and left the hotel. The frightening feeling brought by the empty, cold and weird environment of the entire INN has completely overshadowed the sense of comfort brought to us by the well-equipped room. I compared several hotels before choosing this one, which had a high rating and was expensive, just to have a warm, safe and comfortable environment. However, this experience refreshed my perception that expensive hotels and high ratings are not necessarily good hotels! Thanks to Ctrip for its communication and understanding and for giving us breakfast subsidies."
