Rodeway Inn Milpitas Near Great Mall

Milpitas|0.65km from city center
Stay far away from this ghetto AF hotel. Worst place I have ever stayed. I like to save my reviews for places that deserve a 4 star or higher recognition but this place made me angry enough to reveal it's one star worth rating. I needed a place to stay overnight between apartment leases. This place popped up on the Hotels app and looked nice enough for a few hours. I could not have been more wrong. The room looked fine walking in. But there are no curtains. They have shutters so if you want sunlight, it means anyone can see into your room. The gaps in the shutters are about 6 inches apart. Ok fine, no sunlight to preserve privacy so I kept them shut. Shutters do not keep the very bright streetlight light from shining through. You can hear everything happening around the hotel. Your neighbors. The rolling cart in the hallway being pushed at all hours. The blaring EDD/Rap in the parking lot from guests. I walk into the bathroom. There is mold. The shelves need help. The seat in the handicapped bathroom is stained purple. The shower drain is even with the rest of the bathroom which means water splashes out about 3 feet from the shower. Room was dark and had incredibly poor ventilation. I could smell people smoking cigarettes from inside my room. Even with their AC unit on all night, I would wake up in a sweat to turn it down. Is it worth the headache of moving all my stuff, re masking, and going to inform the front desk? I didn't think so but I wish I had. I forgot my blanket there so called back the same day. No one turned it in. Ok so what does that mean? ”I don't know. Can you call back when the manager is here.” Sure Herschel, the manager tells me there was ”never a blanket in the room”and that his employees have turned in laptops and cellphones, ”valuables” so why would they jeopardize their job for a blanket? Good question my guy. After it ”it's just a blanket” He tells me he can't do anything about it. He has no blanket for me and he can't address the issues in the room because my stay is already over. They could have switched me to a suite if I had told them during my stay. Something about the way they dealt with a measly missing blanket that makes me highly doubt that statement.

TownePlace Suites Milpitas Silicon Valley

Milpitas|2.27km from city center
I've stayed at many TownePlace Suites across the country and this is pleasant, clean and for Silicon Valley, affordable. The rooms and amenities are standard fare and comfortable. The mall next door provides shopping opportunities and there is an Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse, along with a McDonalds within walking distance. This kitchen is nice with full amenities sized for the room you book. Stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, all clean in relatively new. Bathroom is spacious even in the small studio rooms and the show head is high which is great for tall folks like me. Two things make me think twice before staying here again. 1. The wifi performance is abysmal, especially for being in a Tech area. My phone has over twice the speed that this hotel has. See my FAST.COM pic. The hotel is undergoing upgrading their access points, but if they do not upgrade their Internet bandwidth service, it will be a waste of time & money. It will only mean more people will have better access to the same size pipe to the Net. 2. NOISE. My room was facing the mall. Car noise racing up and down the mall street during the day and evening. Worse is the train blowing their whistle at 2:45 AM multiple mornings followed by trash pickup at 5:00 AM and the constant beeping of the trucks backup alarm, again multiple mornings. I don't know if the other side of the building or the other building is better, but at least you've been warned. I recommend ear plugs.

Days Inn by Wyndham San Jose Airport

Love this motel. It’s located just right off of the 880 and you can access the 680 a few miles down Calaveras blvd. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping just a walk across the street. Starlite park is also close by for those parents who have active littles ones or for those who just enjoy getting out to enjoy the sun. The motel has a pop and snack machine located on the first floor. Two washers and dryers located on the second floor and another pop machine on the third floor. They offer grab and go breakfast bags and free coffee in the morning. There is also an outdoor pool and seating area. The price is great for the quality! I definitely recommend!

Overall, I am very impressed. The room and bathroom were excellent and very clean. Staff were very courteous. Only negative experience was with the TV. I did not get Chromecast working on my iPhone and gave up after a few minutes of trying. Yes, I plan to stay here again next time.
