📍 3-6 Moriokaekimae-Kitadori, Morioka

"Brand new, recently opened hotel. The staff was very kind and friendly. It has a public onsen, and the breakfast was good. Modern washing machines are available."

Hotel Ace Morioka ★★★

📍 2 Chome-11-35 Chuodori, Morioka

"The hotel is ideally located, approximately thirteen minutes away from Morioka station, and equidistant with the nearby castle park. It is also within walking distance of many conveniences such as bakeries, combinis, and a local cinema. There are coin operated laundry facilities onsite, and the staff are helpful, kind, and professional. There is an onsite dining area, as well as dining facilities, which I can not attest to as I was on business and, as such, left early and returned late. However, the aromas were enticing! Morioka has many beautiful shrines and temples, with Nasukawacho and its 300 Buddha statues being of particular note. Enjoy your stay."

Richmond Hotel Morioka Ekimae

Richmond Hotel Morioka Ekimae ★★★★

📍 9-17 Morioka Ekimae douri, Morioka

"The room decor was average, but the bedding was really comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely amazing – you definitely have to try it! The hotel is conveniently located just east of Morioka Station, right across a small road. On the west side of Morioka Station, there's the Malios building with a free observation deck on the 20th floor. You can catch a bus to Koiwai Farm from bus stop 10 at Morioka Station; it's about a 40-minute ride and offers stunning views of snowy mountains and green pastures together."

"My family and I stayed here over the New Year holidays. It was our first time back in 20 years. This time, we stayed in the main building, but the facilities were old. Apparently, the elevator in the annex broke down, and the main building's power was partially shut off for inspection, causing the water supply to be weak and unusable for a long period of time. I inquired at the front desk about the situation, but the only announcement made over the in-house announcement was an apology and explanation about the annex elevator and no information about the main building's toilets. The rooms and toilets are well-maintained, so please rest assured. We ate buffet meals both in the evening and in the morning. The selection and taste were average. The bath was spacious, and the water didn't have a hot spring smell, which I really liked. Although I didn't use it this time, there is an open-air standing bath. I highly recommend using it if you stay here."

"We didn't encounter any other guests and were able to relax in peace and quiet. The room was thoroughly cleaned and felt very tidy. The stone tray where the bathroom amenities were placed was great as it allowed everyone to keep their belongings organized. The breakfast was delicious, but I wish it was a little more substantial. Overall, I was very satisfied. Thank you for your hospitality."

GRIDS PREMIUM HOTEL MORIOKA(Newly open on 2026 May 1st) ★★★★
"It’s busy Golden week so prices are sky high. We had a superior room in this new and BASIC Hotel, and it’s my worst choice in 35 years of travel, extremely disappointed ! Please know that it says premium in its name but the superior room is ‘barely’ furnished n the only toiletry is the 2 toothbrushes. Onsen in the windowless basement is horribly small n crowded, and soaking was within 40cm of the next person! There were only 8 cubicles for bathing and there was a Q for it :( The worst part is the front desk, everyone has a ‘fixed’ big smile n no one speaks English. We often hv such situations in Japanese villages but the willingness to be helpful always help us got through …. But not here ! It’s just a frustrating blank. Totally unhelpful. And they purposely leave us to some junior staff to handle. We hv had lots of nights with Dormy Inn Hotels all over Jap through the years n never had any problems. We love the whole efficient setup, helpful staff that doesn’t speak English, n warm service ! We will NEVER try another Grids Hotel ! No thank you !!"

Richmond Hotel Morioka Ekimae ★★★★
"Amazing stay with very friendly staff, even thise who are helping with breakfast. Great location just in front of the train station. The room was spacious, the bathroom had a great bathtub, and amenities were not lacking. They have the breakfast lounge open from 12-8pm, where you can work or chat or just people watch in front of the station and have coffee, tea and soda available. You can also eat your food here though the microwave is on a different floor. I would definitely come back to this hotel, as I fell in love with Morioka."

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Morioka Station (Ekimae) ★★★★
"The hotel is really convenient and just 7 mins walk from the Morioka station. It’s close to the famous pyon pyon sha restaurant and also a 20mins walk along the shops to the red brick Iwate bank building. Lots to explore with a great base location of the hotel. The soundproofing of the walls were unfortunately a little lacking as there were loud walking and stomping noise from the neighbouring room."

Toyoko Inn Morioka Ekimae ★★★
"The hotel is just a short walk across the JR station. To reach the hotel, you need to use the underpass. You can use the B1 lift to enter or exit the underpass so it’s very convenient for those with luggages. The room is small but functional. The only complaint is that the kettle provided cannot be dismantled from the plug. In order to fill water you need to carry the kettle together with the plug. Otherwise, everything is just perfect."
