DoubleTree by Hilton Ontario Airport

We booked a King Suite, Corner room in mid-August in order to attend an event at the Convention Center. We had mixed feelings about this hotel (this applies to this stay only as previous stays have been wonderful), so, I'll break it out between the good and the bad. The Good: - The room was spacious - The King corner suite was quiet. Unlike other hotels in the area, we were unable to hear other guests moving around or talking. Nor were we able to hear any noise from the hallways (unlike the Holiday Inn or the Azure). - It had two vanities (key when I travel with my daughter) - The room contained two refrigerators (great for storing waters and snacks) - A nice desk and small dining table were provided in the room; so, places to sit were plentiful. - There were two closets which was great (particularly when traveling with my daughter) - The bathroom had a LARGE spa tub and a walk-in shower. Both were very much appreciated as with my bad knee, I cannot easily use a shower/tub combo. - The hotel provided little shampoos, conditioners, lotions, etc. which were very nice. - The staff was very friendly - we interacted with the front desk, the lobby bar, the breakfast restaurant and the lobby Starbucks. Everyone was professional and friendly. - The food and drinks were very good (we ate at the lobby bar and the breakfast restaurant off of the lobby). - The restrooms off of the lobby were immaculate. The Bad: - The room's cleanliness left a bit to be desired and maid service was not provided during our stay (we checked in on a Thursday and didn't leave until Sunday). There were stains and drips on the wall paper and the carpeting felt sort of grimy. However, the bedding appeared very clean. - We were only provided with a 1/2 roll of toilet paper for our stay (two women). We actually had to call the front desk to be brought toilet paper. - The television had issues and kept reverting to the guest screen. - The bathtub's stopper would not stay in place. - The decor in the room was extremely outdated and the carpeting could only be described as YEECH! - The hotel entrances closest to our room were not disabled friendly (I have a bad knee / ankle and stairs can be an issue). To find an entrance that did not include a flight of stairs (not kidding), we had to park a considerable distance from our room. This was extremely disappointing in this day and age especially when I booked a room with a walk-in shower. - There was no ability to look at the charges from the room; nor was there an in-room checkout procedure. One needs to actually go down to the lobby, stand in line and wait. Technology is obviously not a priority at this hotel. - This is minor, but it would've been nice if there were electric charging stations for vehicles; particularly when they charge $15 per car per night. - There was only 1 tiny waste basket in the bathroom (none in the kitchen or bedroom area) and 1 tiny recycling basket (we do appreciate the recycling efforts) by

i drove 7 hours from Arizona to get to this hotel that my company already booked and paid for in advance to be told that i need my boss present to present his id and card....... also told me i wouldnt be able to get a room because we have to re book 72 hours in advance.... i sat around for 2-3 hours til my boss from ontario could arrive to present his id and card..... very unprofessional because ive stayed here last month and did not have any of these issues. the front desk did not give two F***s that i was basically stranded in another state with nowhere to stay. after driving 7 hours and sitting 2-3 hours. you would think if you have people staying that are coming from out of state you would provide necessary information so that we are not stuck. after my boss showed up i finally got this room to walk into a dirt ball room with ants everywhere and just dirty. the wifi is probably the worst wifi ive ever experienced in a hotel. the fact that they call this complimentary wifi is almost disrespectful. i work a lot from my computer and i need good connection to be able to work. as i am writing this review in the hotel room looking at my wifi signal with 1 -2 bars max and thats how the wifi has been this whole week. for the hassle and stress i was put through i would book another hotel that would actually give you the service and respect that you pay for. the fact that the front desk said i wouldnt be able to book anything cause for 72 hours and their manager left was ridiculous. basically telling me to f*** off. i remained respectful and calm throughout all of their crap. you need to be teach your employees to cater to repeat customers... ive been here many times and my history will show it... and shows everytime my company paid with the same payment method... they had me wait 3 hours because lack of skill, lack of knowleadge, lack of customer service. And they were okay with letting me sleep in my car because their process is wrong is the reason they will get a bad review today. if you do make a reservation here and pay online make sure that these people provide you with all the right documents you will need especially if your company is paying for the room. make sure you bring insect killer and plenty of sanitizer to clean the dirty rooms. also their is free breakfast included but i wasnt aware of it until my last night here and none of the employees let me know of this i had to kind of force myself into the free breakfast. its time people do their job the right way it amazes me how employees can destroy a business's name and reputation because of their poor level of skill and care. And on the side of this damn building their are about 100 bumble bees flying around the side of the building if i didnt see it in advance it would have been pretty bad. ive never seen this many bees hovering around the garden on the side of the building before.

Holiday Inn Ontario Airport

Ontario|4.46km from city center
Overall, this property looks lovely on the outside, but is in desperate need to be updated inside. Arrival: The hotel website states that the hotel does not offer a shuttle, So after paying $15 for the short ride from Ontario Airport, we pull into the porte-cochere where the Holiday Inn shuttle van is parked. So there is a shuttle available, but it only runs very limited hours in the morning. You are on your own if your flight leaves after noon. Lobby: From my observation, the front desk staff is often in the nearby office, as there is no one behind the desk. The hotel has a small sundry area where you can purchase overpriced sodas and water ($3.50), snacks, candy. However you cannot charge the items to your room and must use a credit card on a self-checkout kiosk. We had arrived early in the day, knowing that our rooms would be several hours away from being ready. While waiting in the lobby for a room to become available, I was hoping to complete some work on my laptop. But the property would not allow me WiFi access until I could check in. Considering that I'm have IHG Premium Elite status, this seems like the least they could offer. Restaurant: Again -only Credit Cards accepted. You cannot do a room charge in the hotel's only restaurant. Limited breakfast menu - we ate upon our early arrival. When our rooms were ready and we check in, we were informed that the restaurant would not be open for dinner on Sunday and Monday - the two nights of our stay. Yet when you enter the elevators, they are adorned with advertisement for their restaurant/food offerings. Hallways: Very worn, carpets looked dirty and on our floor, the 4th, you could see what appears to be construction markings through the paint/wallpaper. It looked like faint black marker with room numbers or other symbols - is the paint so thin it didn't cover these up??? Room: The room was generally fine, although the furnishings did appear to be dated. The worst thing though was the air conditioner,. This was the loudest air conditioner I've ever heard -- sounded like the compressor of a large commercial freezer. The television offers several channels, but there are no instructions on how to access them and the remote doesn't have a numerical keypad, so you must use an up/down key to find the channel you want. Towels: As mentioned by others, the towels reminded me of the awful ones they used to give us to use after gym class in high school 30+ years ago.

I believe the most important thing that will make my family repeat customers at hotels is the beds. After all, the main reason we are there is to sleep. This hotel/motel looks well kept, even beautiful and updated but the beds were one of the top 3 worst we've slept in in the past 20 years and we've traveled across the U.S. and back multiple times. Both my husband and I slept horribly and ended up sending our daughter to sleep at a friend's house due to the incredibly hard beds. These were like sleeping on wood boards. I woke both mornings with bruised hips and shoulder and my husband woke with bruised shoulder and upper back pain. They did provide plenty of pillows but most were flattened as soon as you laid on them. We were surprised by the stiff beds but they either chose those beds for durability and cost (and spent the money on other furnishings?) or they believe everyone likes a good stiff bed. The room was quite small but was updated, clean and had all updated amenities including USB plugs, microwave, fridge, dresser. The shower/tub combo had a slow drain do we were up to our ankles in water while showering (surely the cleaners noticed this issue previously?). We slept in a 2 queen bed room and had requested a quiet room so they put us on the 3rd floor facing the front entrance side. Glad they have an elevator. It was not quiet at all. I wish they would have put us in the back of the building but we were too tired and exhausted from our long trip to request a change and it may have not mattered because the 2nd night there, there was a huge biker club there stopping to sleep on their road trip. Their bikes took up every parking space and other places they could squeeze them into. (6am wake up to numerous motorcycles revving up for the day). the motorcycles and their noise isn't a complaint against the hotel, just a note on our experience. The door needed weatherizing as we could hear everything going on including talking in the parking lot below (every word clearly), traffic, slight noises, people walking by and you could see light through the door way on all sides. The window was also super thin adding to the sound (and I'm not too picky). The property is clearly an older building that they have put a lot into remodeling and new window dressing in rooms. The property felt safe and comfortable with a Denny's just feet away and restaurants across the street. Right off the freeway. The grounds all around the property are gorgeous with beautiful colorful choices in plants, trees and bushes that must take talented and knowledgeable gardeners and landscapers to care for it. Sad that the beds were so incredibly hard. We are diamond members of choice hotels so frequent many of their properties but this will not be one of them although we frequently travel the area.

If you've read some of the reviews below you'll realize this isn't the grandest of places -- especially if you want to sleep with train tracks right next door and heavy trains loudly going past. I had a negative experience with the owner, Nero, that just goes to show how elements of customer service or decency have gone out the window. I made a mistake and doublebooked this motel and another one for the same night. In fact, I wanted to stay at the other place the first night and then drive down here for the following night. It was my fault -- I was tired and booked the same night twice. The Choice booking system did not stop a duplicate reservation. I phoned Choice Motels to ask if I could do a deal: I was prepared to pay for the night I really wanted but, if I did that, could I swap the wrongly booked night for a subsequent (second) night if the place wasn't sold out? I wasn't planning to stay in this location an extra night, but if this could be arranged the hotel wouldn't lose any money -- just allocate a room that would have otherwise gone empty to replace the one I'd erroneously paid for -- and would gain the payment for the night I actually wanted! (so I would be staying two nights and paying two nights). Choice customer service found my request reasonable and phoned the motel for me, but they said the owner needed to be contacted. So I emailed him and got a negative response. It's true: he was entitled to keep the money for the night I erroneously booked and did not have to do anything, but he could have cooperated at no cost to himself while still having two nights revenue for the two nights stayed. The owner's cold attitude indicates a form of greed that is highly unattractive and makes a stay at his property even less desirable than indicated by many other reviewers below. I'd recommend staying elsewhere, especially the very nice Comfort Inn Suites Ontario, also part of Choice Hotels, and that I've found offers fantastically good service as well as a friendly customer-oriented environment.

The overall standard of the hotel, the renovation facilities are not new or old, the room is not very large, facilities are available, you can sleep four people. The hotel is located next to the shopping center. It is very convenient to walk around at night. Two Chinese restaurants nearby are available. Parking is free.

Yes, we flew by LAX but we drove & stayed here after arriving almost midnight so traffic was barely there. We left really early for a 6am flight at LAX on our way back so traffic was not there. The hotel was simple and clean; we were out and away to our destinations most of the time. The bathroom can use a vanity table, actually. Breakfast was spartan, to say the least. But we really enjoyed our stay as they clean & organize the room every day. Friendly non fussy service. Be ready with your IDs. Don't expect something grand; I was told they used to be part of the Super 8 chain but is now independent. We never got to use the swimming pool. We also saw a number of places to go for food and some shopping very near this hotel, which has one of its sides actually by the freeway.

During my stay at this location I often find myself impressed with the service and dedication provided by Andre, Jessica, and Inetta. During the daytime I am often in a rush and Inetta’s attention to detail keeps up any clutter I often cause. Jessica has saved me from missing appointments by her diligent courtesy calls and she never forgets!!! Last but not least I have to give it up to Andre who god knows how he pulls off such an exhausting job during his solo night shift. I often see him sweating from all of the random late night requests from all the guests. Andre gets the job done immediately and it counts. This location has a solid squad!!!

There are 5 people directly upstairs from me, in a two bed hotel room, remodeling the place, or, at least, that's what it sounds like. There used to be 6 people up there but one of them got upset, cussed out his bethren, and threw rocks at them and the hotel. The homeless parking out in front of my room is a nice feature. There are drug deals taking place at the adjacent 7-11, some people stopped by and asked to use my restroom. I even discussed with the 5 people in the two bed room above me about their pounding around like this is the gymnasium, they are still at it, 8:20 at night. This makes 4 hours of pounding in a row, who knows what I have in store during sleeping hours. The hotel room is actually pretty nice, the staff is attentive and the maids are awesome. The guests are the problem, but when they are out in the parking lot screaming obscenities and throwing rocks at each other, a security guard would be able to intervene, I'm just sayin.

We recently stayed at the Ayers Suites for one night. We had a concert at the Toyota Arena. The room was perfect and didn’t skimp on things like coffee in the room! Yes, we were in Las Vegas last weekend and stayed what we thought would be a great hotel on the strip (Caesars Palace) and there was a coffee maker but not coffee. We called and they said it wasn’t complimentary any more and wanted to charge us $22 for coffee and they said they didn’t know when it would arrive. Ayers was clean, comfortable and again, just right for our needs. I would only suggest filling the vending machine a bit more so there was more of a choice of snacks but we found something so its not a big deal. Not too fancy but still great place to stay and we loved our room.
