"They had limited information about Businesses that delivered food in the area, so we grabbed a couple of the flyers they had. One was Emilio's pizza, which was their only flyer for pizza. We ended up ordering it and they charged an $8 delivery fee, and $25 for a large pizza, and other taxes, ended up being $40 for a pizza that turned out the size of a normal medium pizza and tasted like frozen pizza you buy at the supermarket. It was nasty and we didn't even eat it. Also, we asked to check in an hour and a half early, I am in a wheelchair and I was tired, they wanted to charge us $80, so we declined, being the room was already $128.00."

"I came to stay at the Promissory as a half-way point between Philadelphia and Asheville, where I was headed for the weekend, and I was not disappointed! So incredibly charming, thoughtful, and inviting. I was offered a complimentary upgrade to my room to their gorgeous and spacious Artist's Suite and enjoyed a glass of champagne upon arrival. The staff were all friendly, informative, and professional. I wish I was able to stay longer but promise that if I ever find my way to Roanoke (an adorable town!) I will be staying again, and will certainly tell everyone I know to reserve a room at the Promissory Hotel."

The floor outside the room was covered in animal excrement, and the carpet in the room was torn and filthy! We demand the cancellation of this hotel's operating license!"
