Hotels near Via XX Settembre, Rome

The best thing about Giglio is it’s location. You can never ask for a better location than this. Exactly three minutes walk from Termini Station, it is surrounded by nice out sitting restaurants, a small super store that also have reasonably priced Italian wine and some of the tourist attractions at walkable distance. Collosium is approximately 1.5 kms from here. Though there are buses (number H) from Termini but I will advise to take a cab because the tourists pickpocketing is so rampant that it is really a menace (we saw an American man and his wife literally crying as they were robbed of their wallet which had his all credit cards). However, let’s come back to the hotel Giglio. If you fancy a hotel with a large balcony or big windows then you must look some other property. But if you are a genuine tourist who wants value for money, centrally located just go for this place. Our room was on fifth floor and our A/C was set at 26 degrees Celsius. There was no remote in the room. I spoke to reception and Mr Rauf came rushing upstairs, brought a remote and set the temperature as we wanted. Though we were only two people we were given a room fit for four people. The bathroom was really spacious. They don’t provide a lot of toiletries but good enough to shower. I have had breakfast at various expensive hotels in Rome, Florance and Siena but the breakfast provided at Giglio was much better than most. I must also add that the very kind girl at the breakfast service named Safia was just an Angel for us. She is soft spoken, very oriented towards customers and one who looks for solutions. We wanted vegetarian breakfast and she got us cheese tomato sandwiches because everything else had meat. Overall this is a great hotel because it gives you best value for money, it’s location and its kind staff.

Really convenient location with only 3-min distance to Roma Termini giving you quick and easy transfer to the airport and elsewhere in Italy by train. Rooms have been renovated too. However, front desk staff was really rude. When I dropped my room keys in the transparent plastic box placed on the front desk for an express check-out and turned around leaving the hotel, staff shouted at me asking me to wait in line. The staff said I haven’t cleared my payment and tried to charge me full room rate plus city tax even though I have prepaid the room rate to Agoda in full. True that I haven’t paid city tax but they have swiped my credit card upon check-in or they could have asked me to pay upon check-in either. I suggested the hotel should have hided their express check out box if there is no such option available. The staff bluntly replied it is for guests who have cleared all the payment. It is really ironic who can enjoy express check out, if the hotel doesn’t charge city tax upfront nor charge it to credit card. Meanwhile, the room cleaning is so-so and forgot to refill shampoo/shower gel/fresh tower quite a few times during our stay. Also, the windows isn’t good at isolating street noise. I'm sure that each of us has his own scale of factors to evaluate whether a place is beautiful or ugly but that the added value is the people. In this clean, nice and very comfortable hotel, near the Roma Termini station, it is precisely the people who make a small hotel a point of reference for our trips to Rome. Paola from the reception was, and is, the person who followed us during the booking process and who went out of her way to help us project our photographs on a wall, in a small room set up just for us, a small group of photographers arrived in town for a two day photography course. This hotel was a disappointment. I stayed there for four nights this easter for my first trip to Rome. I choose this hotel because it was central and medium high ranked, but the only positive thing was the location. It sits centrally located near the Pantheon and most things are in walking distance. However, to even get into the hotel you need to go through a police checkpoint since the hotel is opposite to the parliament building across the piazza. Still that’s not the problem. Although the hotel has a shiny reception the rest of the hotel is worn and not living up to its reputation. The rooms are worn down and though cleaned things doesn’t seem quite clean. The the bed was squeaky and barely holding together. The bathroom shower was broken and the bathroom altogether tiny. Breakfast was another disappointment. Although it had a basic, not continental thought, composition, they always ran out of food before breakfast time was over. The croissants were burnt, the eggs badly overcooked and the cheese dry. Not very pleasant. So the only thing that was positive was the location. Still there is a hundred other hotels with the same location and I can’t imagine them being as bad as this. Spend your money elsewhere.

There are not many types of breakfast. It is bread, ham, salad. Hotel service is very good, the day of check-in is a birthday, and a bottle of champagne is also sent The sofa bed may be too old, there is a sunken place in the middle, and it feels empty in the middle without support. I would have liked to rate the hotel as 4.5* however our room was at the front of the hotel and even with the windows shut it was very noisy from the large road junction outside, plus there was noise from other residents and tvs in other rooms, maybe some soundproofing needs to be carried out. That having been said the location was excellent, an easily walkable distance to main attractions, plus a metro stop is directly outside the hotel. The area felt safe at night and there some very good restaurants to try which are only minutes away. Should you wish to go shopping then there are plenty of non-designer shops to choose from nearby including a very good department store called COIN. Our room was a good size and had a lovely bathroom. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, the linen was super soft. Cleaning through the hotel was of a high standard. Breakfast was excellent, everything you might want and the most delicious scrambled eggs I have ever had in a hotel. There were salads, pastries, cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurts, different cured meats and cheeses, sausages and bacon and vegetarian options. Top marks for the hard working breakfast staff. A great start to the day. Staff generally were friendly and helpful. At reception were snacks and drinks to welcome you which was a nice gesture. The hotel also has a small restaurant, ideal for lunches or if you are too exhausted to leave the hotel at night. We had pizzas and salads there a couple of times for lunch and they were very good. The reception area is good with couches, they will look after your baggage if you have a late flight. A very enjoyable stay.

We booked this hotel for a three night stay before our cruise. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our corner room had a cute balcony and the décor, furnishings, and vibe is sexy modern. They have a fabulous restaurant where you can grab the breakfast buffet. So many amazing choices. We also had dinner here one night and drinks another. It's tucked away in a very lively and fun neighborhood. Around the corner are tons of restaurants and shops. It's a 6 minute walk to Piazza di Santa Maria where we bought souvenirs, ate gelato and pizza, and hung out with the night crowd. The main street around the corner It's a 35 minute walk to the colosseum and a 45 minute walk to the Vatican. We did each of these on different days. It's definitely centrally located and I would stay here again.

The hotel is very modern, lovely sized room and really comfy bed! You get a hairdryer in the room (ladies!) and there is a mini fridge to leave your own drinks. Aircon worked perfectly and some fancy lighting above the bed! Really close to the 160 bus stop that takes you to the centre of Rome for €1.50 (pre pay on the app!) and also some lovely restaurants and cafes for food. Short walk from the 716 bus to take you to Rome Termini. Lovely staff- although confusing when one member let us have water complimentary and another charged for it. Only improvements would be to have tea coffee in the room for in a morning, and also don’t expect the Beth room to be super clean- in need of a little TLC.

Liked the location of the hotel in EUR Rome. The rooms are nice and clean, good TV channels including BBC and CNN. The experience was ruined by the 1 hour + noise from the trucks loading and unloading skips in the next door Euromax shopping centre. The banging noise is horrendous. Sara did offer to replace my room but as i had 1 more night i didn't bother. The breakfast area is very busy and chaotic, takes a long time to get coffee from the Barista's. The breakfast items are okay but nothing substantial, they are very supermarket affair. The corridors are boring and dull and definitely 3 stars. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Euromax shopping centre next door is an excellent diversion on a rainy day.
