Holiday Inn Express & Suites WHITE RIVER JUNCTION by IHG

📍 121 Ballardvale Dr, White River Junction, Hartford
★★★ 8.5 (105 reviews)

"The experience at the Holiday Inn on April 11th was the worst. As soon as we checked in and entered the room, it was as hot as if we had stepped into a sauna. The room temperature gauge showed 82 degrees, and despite our attempts to lower it, the room kept getting hotter, making it difficult to even breathe. Unable to bear it any longer, I called the front desk, only to be told that the heating system was broken and they couldn't adjust the room temperature. If the hotel's most important facility, the HVAC system, was broken, it is the duty of the front desk to inform guests upon check-in. However, nobody informed us of such, and the room was unbearably hot, making it impossible to stay. We spent the night with windows open, wearing t-shirts, unable to get any sleep. By morning, all three of us in the family had high fevers, swollen throats, and found it difficult to swallow. If such a critical HVAC system failure occurred in the hotel, they should have informed guests first upon check-in and asked whether they still wanted to proceed with their stay. I am very angry and disappointed, and I strongly desire to receive credit for this matter."

Jackson Gore Village on Okemo Mountain Hotels in Windsor County

Jackson Gore Village on Okemo Mountain

"When we arrived, the front desk staff were very kind and welcoming. We were told we could eat at the restaurant right off the lobby so we planned to eat dinner there. When we arrived at the restaurant 20 mins later, they told us we could not eat there unless we had made prior reservations due to a wedding they had next door. The lady told us “we have to prioritize the wedding of 200 people”. I asked where we should eat and the lady shrugged. One of the waiters, who was very kind apologized and recommended the bar . They had some dishes from their restaurant menu. We were pretty irritated because we were both exhausted and the lady was very rude to us. We watched 20+ people get turned away from eating dinner due to this wedding. I completely understand that they need to focus on a wedding and the food for the wedding, however we should’ve been told about this when we arrived that the restaurant wasn’t available unless we had already made a reservation. The resort is very nice and there was a lot of fun things you can do there, but some of the staff were quite unkind."

Echo Lake Inn Hotels in Windsor County

Echo Lake Inn

"Nestled deep in the dense forests of Vermonts green mountains and worlds away from bustling Main streets, packed strip malls and summer highway traffic is Echo Lake Inn, an ode to classic Rockwellian New England beauty with enough of a sense of modernity to appeal to almost anybody. The Inn built in the waning days of the 18th century is full of comfortable areas to relax and celebrate your vacation. A small but fully stocked bar with local beers and wines is adorned with odes to Vermonts history specifically President Calvin Coolidge who is one of the many historical figures who’ve spent time at the Inn throughout the years. The deep cushioned leather chairs and couches offer premium relaxation to enjoy a nightcap to put an exclamation point on a fantastic day. The cavernous basement has, what was during our stay a non functional bar area full of local beer taps not in use. There is a dart board, pool table and an endless supply of board/ card games to relax and waste the day away with. The large and charmingly forward sloped wooden farmers porch is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the thick forest and nearby black brook that flows into the pristine reflective echo lake for which the Inn is named If wasting away the day playing games or taking in the scenery isn’t your speed then there is plenty of hiking trails, golf, paddle board and kayaking right by the Inn. And of course during the winter months the Inn is in the shadow of Okemo mountain, one of Vermonts premier ski resorts. Modern amenities include a hot tub in a nearby small pool house that comfortably fits four to six, and sits adjacent to a tennis/pickleball court As for my personal experience I showed up on a Friday afternoon with a group of nine for a ****** Mystery experience. This event brought about 60 visitors to the inn and despite the onslaught of seemingly never needing guest arrivals the staff didn’t miss a beat along the way. Never once did we feel the staff was inattentive or that the experience wasn’t enjoyable despite the ever increasing crowd. During this time of year (early June) a lot of the downtown area is shut down or on limited and restricted hours so the Inn became our sanctuary. All of our needs were at worst met, and far often exceeded. John, the Inn owner and his staff were absolutely amazing. Simply singing the praises of the staff on a review board would not do them the justice they deserve. I’d advise anybody who makes this area of the Green Mountains a destination to come to the Echo Lake Inn. It was old world hospitality and charm that kept everybody happy and made just another weekend into an unforgettable experience that myself and my friends will treasure. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Inns most popular employee the lovable and accommodating She Ra. A sweetheart of a dog that makes all guests feel at home."

Golden Stage Inn Hotels in Windsor County

Golden Stage Inn

"The Golden Stage Inn was an.amazinfg place. Mike and Julie are the most gracious hosts. They had everything you could want. The accomodations were very clean, spacious and felt very cozy. The county location was within walking distance of some real good eating places. The breakfasts were awesome. They were very knowledgeable of the area and offered up many great ideas of places to visit and routes to take for the best views. We would definitely recommend The Golden Stage Inn to all that are looking for an above average B and B."

Castle Hill Resort and Spa Hotels in Windsor County

Castle Hill Resort and Spa

"We arrived here in the late afternoon on a Monday. The property is about 3.5 miles southwest of the town of Ludlow on Hwy 103. You pull in at a motel that fronts the highway - the sign reads "The Pointe at Castle Hill". Regardless of which property you stay at, you check in there. Afterwards, you proceed up the hill to the inn. You park either just in front of the building or, if the spaces are full, there is a bit more space to the side of another building close by (probably their spa). We never heard any traffic noise during our entire stay. The building itself is about 120 years old, built by a former Vermont governor from this area. It still has the feel of a mansion, with lots of dark wood finishes inside. They have a small desk in the large foyer when you enter who can assist as needed. There is also a lounge with couches and chairs (for reading, mostly). The restaurant is also located on this level. The wide staircase to the upper floors is to the left off the foyer. The 2nd floor had at least 9 rooms. Down the hallway there was another smaller staircase up to the 3rd level, which I think had fewer rooms (I did not go up there). Our room was nice, with a queen sized 4-poster bed (you might enquire if they have a room with a king-sized bed). There was plenty of additional floor space, with a small table and chairs near the front windows. There are a number of relatively subtle upgrade touches like the phone line and water pipes for the adjoining bathrooms. A few things we noted about our room: * It had limited electrical outlets, which was addressed via power strips for each of the main plugs. * There is no central air conditioning, which is probably fine for this latitude (barring some heat wave). You can open the windows for a breeze, as needed. * The heating is central and is not turned on until some point in the season when it turns sufficiently cold. They do offer a space heater in the room (if needed), there is a fireplace (we didn't use ours), and the comforter was quite warm. * The amount of counter and table space available was limited (due to the small antique table). This wasn't a huge issue, but you have to be mindful of where to leave things like a wallet, glasses, phone, etc. You can book a massage at the spa, but we did not make use of that service. The hotel's fine dining restaurant is a great option for a special occasion meal. You should book this in advance (I'm not what is a safe time - at least a month or two, I'd guess). On the night we ate there, we had a formal oval dining room for the home to ourselves for half of our meal, as the larger dining room across the hall was full from a tour bus. The food was very good! They also apparently serve a modest breakfast here in the mornings starting at 8 a.m., but we were trying to get an early start each day and ended up getting breakfast in Ludlow instead. Given the somewhat isolated location, your dining options outside the hotel are a bit limited. T"

The Inn at Weathersfield ★★★★
"Vermont is heaven on Earth. Dinner at the Inn at Weathersfield is an extraordinary and must visit treasure in this corner of heaven. We split six different starters, each of which was exquisite. The cocktails before dinner were, given that it was summer, fresh, cold, and beautifully prepared. Dessert was divine. The staff is professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. Go. Do not put it off. We’re going back again."
