"My experience staying at this hotel as below. 1. They provide pickup and drop off from the train station. The day before the Inn contacted me to make arrangement for the pickup. Then they arranged to drive me back to station on the day I leave. Service was efficient and prompt. Much appreciated. 2. I was able to use the washing machine to wash come clothes which was much needed. Comb and toiletries were provided. So grateful for these little necessities as I left mine at the previous hotel. 3. The boss upgraded me to a bigger and better room because it was the low season. The kang bed was so comfortable and firm. I had the best sleep so far at this Inn. I'm so happy. 4. The Inn is inside the old city and practically next to one of the city gates. Very convenient for sightseeing old Pingyao city. 5. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Boss also gave me a bottle of vinegar. Wish I could take it back to UK with me. 6. The price of this Inn is also very reasonable and affordable. 7. Pingyao is a beautiful, ancient old city. Worth coming. I highly recommend staying here. "Fantastic location, super convenient for getting around. The hotel's cleanliness was top-notch, and they provided a full set of toiletries. Check-in at the front desk was incredibly fast and hassle-free from start to finish. There are plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby, and the staff were very friendly. Parking was also convenient, and we even received two free tickets to Chunyang Palace. Excellent value for money!"

"This is by far the best value five-star hotel in Taiyuan. The management is well-organized, and the hygiene is consistently excellent, making you feel right at home. Both the facilities and services are well-maintained. The surrounding area offers a complete range of commercial amenities and convenient transportation, with a subway entrance right next to the hotel. Tianmei and Beimei New World shopping centers are just next door. Overall, it's great value for money. The only minor drawback is that it's an older hotel and could use a full renovation. Given that Shanxi is a strong tourist province, a refurbishment would certainly justify a price increase."

"Excellent value for money and a fantastic location. They offered free clothing, and for just 80 yuan, I got a full styling session. We took photos right in the hotel with an OPPO X8 Ultra, and they turned out amazing! My wife was thrilled. The results were just as good as professional studio photos we've had taken before, but at a fraction of the cost. We'll definitely bring our daughter back here for a photoshoot sometime. When we checked out, the owner even gave us two bottles of homemade vinegar as a gift."

"This hotel definitely deserves five stars. The rooms are spacious and well-arranged. All the amenities, including the kettle, coffee machine, and even the toiletries, are from well-known brands. The room also features AI voice service, which is very convenient and practical. The entire hotel is exquisitely decorated, with large and luxurious elevators. The hotel isn't far from the ancient city, and there's a Wanda Plaza about 1 kilometer away, making shopping and dining very convenient. The breakfast offers a wide variety of delicious options; it was quite busy during my holiday stay, with most tables full. I booked late and the hotel was fully booked, so I had to wait until the second day to get an available room. It's a highly recommended hotel, and I've already recommended it to many friends."

"“Ji Xia Shan” (literally, “Below the Mountain”) is tucked away in a quiet corner of Datong's ancient city. Push open the courtyard gate, and the hustle and bustle instantly fade away. Green bricks, wooden structures, plain walls – colors are minimized, and tranquility is maximized. As night falls, another layer of light illuminates the courtyard. A fire-dancing artist moves with a 'fire pot,' a flick of their arms sending golden streams of fire streaking through the silent night. Sparks scatter between the eaves and the green bricks, flickering on and off like the unextinguished heartbeat of the sleeping ancient city. Silence and passion arrive simultaneously in this single courtyard. The room's window is understated. It doesn't rush to display a panoramic view; instead, it draws your eye to the layered rooftops, resembling distant mountains. And at this moment, through the window, the fire's reflection dances on the tea ceremony table. Ji Xia Shan doesn't create scenery. It simply filters out the noise for you, leaving behind the ancient city's true essence – and your true self. Checking in here is truly arriving."

"Overall, my impression of this hotel is that it's a slightly upscale budget hotel. The service is four-star, and they offer shuttle service to and from the station. At around 400 yuan a night, it's considered high-end in Linfen. **Pros:** The service is excellent and highly commendable. The station shuttle service is very thoughtful, and the car was comfortable. The complimentary welcome fruit was a nice, warm touch. The separate toilet, sink, and shower area is a great feature. **Areas for Improvement:** The air conditioning was quite noisy. The 'river view' room didn't really offer much of a river view, though I could see a bridge. The breakfast quality should be improved to match the four-star service. For instance, the freshly squeezed soy milk was too thick, indicating too few soybeans were used, and the quality of the pastries needs to be better."

"Self-driving for 20 days, stayed in many hotels with different price ratings, Mercure was the first three people to live in. The hotel is in a good location, convenient parking, warm front desk staff, rich and delicious breakfast, and fruit plates, so I stayed for another day. Mercure is an ideal choice for self-driving tours."

"Choosing this hotel for my trip to Taiyuan was absolutely the best decision, and I have to highly recommend it to all my friends! First, let's talk about the service – a huge shoutout to the front desk and concierge! The moment I got out of the car, the concierge was quick to greet me, proactively taking my heavy luggage. Eva, at check-in, was all smiles and genuinely enthusiastic, patiently explaining all the hotel facilities. Her heartfelt warmth immediately made me feel so much better about this unfamiliar city, truly making me feel at home. The most delightful surprise was the two parakeets freely roaming in the lobby! While waiting to check in, they chirped away as if chatting with you, instantly easing my travel fatigue. The kids traveling with me were utterly captivated and couldn't move. These lively details truly add so much to the experience. Even more heartwarming, Laura specially prepared a little gift for the children – adorable dolls and candies. The kids loved them and kept saying, 'We want to stay here again next time!' Seeing their happy faces made us, as parents, incredibly pleased. From the concierge's proactive assistance and the delightful surprises for the kids to the lively presence of these little creatures, everything made me feel the warmth and vibrant atmosphere of Taiyuan. Next time I'm in Shanxi, I'll definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!"

"Ive just left the Inn and on the train to the next destination. I wish I could stay longer as this was such a pleasant stay. The boss lady was so nice. I booked just a basic room but got upgraded to almost a studio flat with separate bedroom in the mezzanine and lounge downstairs. Everytime I come back from sightseeing, all hot tired, the boss lady gave me a bowl of delicious melons. It was sweet and juicy. The best melons I have had. The second time she also gave me bananas. It was so much needed. The hotel is in the perfect location. Thank you for a wonderful stay. 1. From Datongnan station there are buses 608 or 61 which takes you directly to Huayansi stop, less than 1min from the hotel. However, the hotel frontage is a jewelry shop, I didn't know so ended up walking up/down the street for 10mins before the boss lady realised and came out to tell me I have arrived. 2. If you want to go to Yungang Grottoes. From the same bus stop take bus 38, then change to bus 3 to get to the Grottoes. Journey time about an hour in total. And cost 4RMB (2RMB per bus). However, you have to set up some kind of public travel app from Wechat to get the QR code to pay the bus fare. I didn't know this. Fortunately, some nice people helped pay my fare, then another lovely girl helped set up the app enabling me to use the bus from then as when I arrived and took the bus from the train station to hotel Wechatpay didn't work. Fortunately the driver let me ride for free as I guess he realised Im foreign and don't have this app. Only when I took the bus to Yungang Grottoes, the girl told me I need to set up the travel app etc and helped me set it up. 3. The hotel is also right opposite to the Huayan temple. A beautiful ancient temple. Deffo can't be missed.
