Romantic Hotels in Shanxi, China

My experience staying at this hotel as below. 1. They provide pickup and drop off from the train station. The day before the Inn contacted me to make arrangement for the pickup. Then they arranged to drive me back to station on the day I leave. Service was efficient and prompt. Much appreciated. 2. I was able to use the washing machine to wash come clothes which was much needed. Comb and toiletries were provided. So grateful for these little necessities as I left mine at the previous hotel. 3. The boss upgraded me to a bigger and better room because it was the low season. The kang bed was so comfortable and firm. I had the best sleep so far at this Inn. I'm so happy. 4. The Inn is inside the old city and practically next to one of the city gates. Very convenient for sightseeing old Pingyao city. 5. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Boss also gave me a bottle of vinegar. Wish I could take it back to UK with me. 6. The price of this Inn is also very reasonable and affordable. 7. Pingyao is a beautiful, ancient old city. Worth coming. I highly recommend staying here. The bedding was comfortable and the room design was reasonable, but the room had a noticeable smell of new renovations, and the facilities were generally unacceptable. Despite being advertised as a hotel built in 2025, the toilet sliding door was difficult to open, the bathroom sliding door did not close properly, the TV signal was poor and frequently froze and could not be projected, and the air conditioner made strange noises. It was simply impossible to associate this with the quality of a five-star hotel.

Facilities: The design is excellent, and all the amenities are thoughtfully arranged and very practical. The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable; lying down felt so therapeutic, and I fell asleep almost instantly. Hygiene: The hygiene was impeccable. Environment: The location is perfect, within walking distance of Daiwang Mansion, Drum Tower, and Huayan Temple. After watching the iron flower performance at night, it was just a short stroll back to bed. Service: The service was incredibly attentive and prompt. The butler recommended many delicious local eateries, and they were all indeed fantastic. The tea at the front desk was also delightful; I'd fill my thermos every time I went out – it was so comforting. They even offered a thoughtful bedtime gift, making the overall experience incredibly pleasant.

Absolutely amazing! I was a bit worried about the noise since the hotel is right in the middle of a food street. When I checked in, I casually asked what time the food street closed, and the lovely lady at the front desk immediately upgraded us to a room on the parking lot side – totally quiet, not a sound! Honestly, just finding a hotel at this price in this area is a win, so I didn't have high expectations. But the front desk and concierge staff were all so wonderful and accommodating with every request. Definitely a five-star review! 🥰🥰🥰

The hotel's breakfast was plentiful, and the interior design and decor were excellent. The complimentary bathhouse tickets allowed my family to shower separately, so we didn't have to wait for each other. The main advantage is the excellent soundproofing in the rooms; during the Dragon Boat Festival, I barely heard any sounds like doors closing from other rooms. Overall, it's great value for money and a very comfortable stay. I'll definitely come back. Just a small suggestion: popular attractions like the Yungang Grottoes open at 7 AM during peak season. If breakfast could start at 6:30 AM during peak season, it would be much more convenient for guests to get an early start.

My stay at Futiandahua Rain Hot Spring Hotel was absolutely fantastic! First off, the location is superb, right inside the ancient city. It's super close to where they do the iron flower show, which, by the way, is an absolute must-see. I'm getting on in years, but watching that show brought tears to my eyes; I was so moved by the performers' dedication and the incredible spectacle they put on. It's clear the hotel owner pays incredible attention to detail. My two girlfriends and I stayed in a triple room, and from the moment we walked into the lobby, we were gushing over the hotel's ambiance, the staff, and the room's decor. Every little detail was thoughtfully done. Even when we were heading out to explore the ancient city, the front desk proactively offered us a pack of tissues to take with us. The room itself was a standalone unit, so it was incredibly quiet. They delivered coffee and afternoon tea daily, and the fruit plate in the room was fresh. There was also a cooler in the lobby with bottled water available for guests. The whole room was smart-enabled with XiaoDu (a smart assistant), and the shower had great water pressure and was very comfortable, with a separate wet and dry area. Oh, one small thing: the trash can in the bathroom was a bit too small; I hope they can improve that. The private hot spring was amazing. After a full day of sightseeing, coming back to soak in the hot spring and chat was just pure bliss.

We chose a 'kang' room (a traditional heated bed) for our family of three, and it was perfect, with all the necessary amenities. The guesthouse service was excellent; they contacted us beforehand about check-in. When we arrived during the day, they arranged an electric car to pick us up and help with our luggage, ensuring a seamless transfer from the parking lot. The owner is really nice too; I left my phone in the room when we went out, and the uncle professionally delivered it to us! 👍

This is a really unique hotel with excellent service. The room was very clean and tidy, with smart controls, and service requests were handled promptly. A great experience overall.

This was the most beautiful and luxurious hotel we stayed in for our entire trip to China. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and very comfortable. The hotel staff was helpful and very responsive over WeChat. We enjoyed the nightly cocktails and 24h coffee at the lobby. The bartender was nice enough to mix a special cocktail for my pregnant wife, and he did not skim on the alcohol for my cocktail. There was complimentary water and drinks in the room. The plumbing was excellent, the location above the mall was great, and there was a 24 convenience store downstairs. There are also decent food options and massage places nearby. The room had automatic window blinds, a spacious bathtub for 2 people, and a very comfortable shower and toilet space. The hotel also alwyas made sure we had sufficient refreshments, whether in room or in the lobby. It was a shame we only stayed for 2 nights, would love to come back.

The hotel and the staff especially is really amazing. Loved the place and its location, but what made it really special is the staff. I lost my wallet on my first day in Taiyuan and the guy who found it called the hotel as there was the keycard in it. The hotel staff then organised the return of my wallet. So yeah. Loved it.
