Romantic Hotels in Penang, Malaysia

Five stars all around! Big shout-out to the friendly front desk staff. I was torn between JEN Hotel and Wembley, but ultimately chose Wembley because I saw reviews mentioning early check-in, which was a huge draw for me. It's also Chinese-friendly, and the front desk staff can communicate in Chinese. Even though rooms were very tight during Chinese New Year, the hotel still allowed me to check in quite a bit earlier. This gave me a precious three-hour nap, helping me avoid the hottest part of the day and making my first day of sightseeing rich and energetic. Wembley and JEN are just across the street from each other, but Wembley is on higher floors, offering a more expansive view. It's only about 700-800 meters to both Mural Street and the Clan Jetties. There are also plenty of shopping and food courts nearby. The hotel itself is well-maintained, and soundproofing is decent. My only minor complaint: For two adults and one child, we requested an extra comforter, but they brought a blanket instead. Using just a blanket requires quite some courage!

Location is good, right in the centre & within walking distance to eateries & shopping. Close nearby there’s the Hin Depot, it’s like a weekend flea market. Hotel Service was great, the room that i booked was rather small, city view facing but sun was strong and day time, was abit hot as room window facing the sun. Going green is good, and water dispenser is provided on every floor for our refill. Can i suggest the bottles provided to have a wider opening as when refilling was rather difficult to avoid any spillage, especially taking the hot water Hotel deco is very festive.

Good stay at Jazz Hotel Penang 👍 Really satisfied with my trip here. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and even a complimentary bath bomb which made the stay extra relaxing. Love the rooftop pool and the overall modern vibe. Location is convenient — walking distance to Straits Quay and easy access to Gurney area for food. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Overall a pleasant experience, will definitely come back again!

Least to stay, this place has wonderful service and a very clean atmosphere. Loved my stay here and the location is very good to move around nearby streets and attractions. I highly recommend this hotel. Thanks for making my stay memorable

The location was excellent — just steps away from the beach, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway, especially during the festive season The breakfast selection was fairly good, with both local and simple Western choices. However, during peak hours it felt a bit crowded and some items ran out before being refilled quickly. The staff were generally friendly, though service speed could be improved at times. The room was comfortable enough for a short stay, but certain areas showed signs of wear and could use upgrading. Overall, it’s acceptable for the price, but with some improvements in service consistency and breakfast management, the experience could be better

My overall stay was decent, but there's definitely room for improvement. The hotel's hygiene needs a revamp, especially the swimming pool – I could feel a lot of dust in the water when I got in, which really dampened the experience. The towels provided also seemed a bit old. The furniture in the room was showing its age as well, and the overall feel wasn't ideal. As for breakfast, during peak hours, they were slow to replenish the food, often leaving empty dishes, so service efficiency could be better. However, there were some nice touches that left a good impression. The warm cookies offered at check-in were a definite plus and tasted great.

Location is just 3min walk from a Duck meat Koay Teow Teng where locals go. 15min walk from New Lane food street for dinner and lots of TSP stores that locals go to within a radius of 5 min walk. Despite near to all these nice shops, it is quiet enough to rest. The counter staff are also friendly, especially Amirul. Despite putting on mask, Amirul lots of warmth and hospitality. Truly enjoyed the stay at this hotel.

This hotel is perfect for families! It's spacious and comfortable. We'd definitely come back again. There are plenty of food options nearby too, like Nasi Kandar Kayu and Breakfast Bekal Cafe. It's also close to Bukit Jambul Complex. Really great! 👍

Honestly this hotel was unexpectedly good!! The room was extremely clean (really love that super clean smell when you walk into your room 😂) Their housekeeping team did a great job too - I’ve requested daily house keeping & they cleaned the room, changed the towels every day without fail! There’s also a complimentary snacks near the lift which they replenish it every day. When I requested for a steam iron, they sent it over immediately as well! - very responsive, very impressive! One of the highlights was the cute cats around the property - super manja super friendly, which made the stay even more enjoyable!! It’s a great choice for people who love cats!! You’ll see them everywhere LOL The sandwich bar is amazing too - Can try their signature Reuben & smoke duck cheese toast, it’s very nice!! Location wise I think it’s very strategic. It’s walkable to the famous Chowrasta Market for breakfast, chendol, and many more. Taking Grab around was also very convenient - not expensive. One more plus point when you stay here, you can visit the massage centre right beside the hotel - pretty good with reasonable price (it’s not the very atas kind but was quite decent & just have to book in advance to secure your slot) I think the only minor downside would be some background noise from the bar across the street at night. You can hear faint clubbing music, but it wasn’t too loud or disruptive & it didn’t affect our stay much. All in all, it’s a good one! Will definitely come back again!!

First time going to Penang, loved the location of the hotel. Amazing view of the beach from our room, and saw fireworks one night was a treat. They keep the beach clean for the property, each day saw it being cleared. The pool is a good refreshing temperature. Majority of the time isn't overly busy. Good depth and size of pool. I enjoyed swimming laps each day and relaxing on the sunloungers. Kept clean, fresh towels available. Good pool toys for the kids. The gym was amazing, good equipment and machines- beautiful view of the ocean. I would prefer the air con colder as the one in there didnt cool the room down enough and if wasn't standing near it, it got very hot. The water provided in there also isn't cold which i didnt like ( is in a machine that says keeping warm, which i dont understand shouldn't drink warm water when working out, don't know if it's a culture thing? Wasn't to my liking anyway) The room is spacious, bathroom bit tight but made do. Nice amenities topped up daily. Bed comfortable. Air con in room works amazing. Cleanliness in room noticed could've been better as after room being 'cleaned' noticed my hair still on floor and sand in corner from shoes. So seems the floor doesn't get swept or mopped as much as we thought. Buffet breakfast was great, yummy food and lots of everything. Plenty of staff i just think they need to be more attentive and watch the buffet e.g kids touching food ( saw few things) and make sure the food is safe for other guests to eat. We ate at the hotel lunch and dinner also, the staff mean well but there is a language barrier and was few instances where our meals didn't come out correct like we got a tomato soup when we pointed and said on the menu tomato pasta. We are patient enjoyed the food and kept going back despite the mistakes. We understand a second language can be difficult. Amazing fresh cakes in fridge we just about tried them all. The staff also did a lovely birthday song and candles on cake my husband brought. Overall had a lovely time.
