I woke up to a beautiful view of the Liffey river. That was wonderful. The beds were comfortable. Me and my daughters slept well in the room with 2 double beds. Shower was wonderful. Happy with the Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. Laundry was not an issue... great that the launderette was easily accessible. The business center had 1 desktop. Two guests were using the space and readily let me use the desktop when I needed to. We stayed for a good 3 nights and had a lot of baggage as my daughter was finishing school there. The hotel helped us get the baggage down. Leaving the hotel, the parking space for drop-off and pick-up could hold up to 4 cars at most. The hotel let us double park to pick our things up. So, all is good.

Heating didn’t work in room but they fixed it once asked, bathroom door wouldn’t remain closed. This appears to be a hotel for workmen as there are signs everywhere not to wear work boots to bedrooms , signs again in bar and dining room, location great, hotel a bit shabby. Not a couples hotel but grand if your a builder looking to put your head down for the night

I stayed at the Clayton Hotel Galway recently and found the hotel itself to be comfortable, with clean rooms and friendly staff. The facilities were good, and the breakfast was decent, offering a reasonable selection. However, the location is quite far from Galway’s main train and bus stations, which made getting into the city centre less convenient without a car. Public transport options are limited, so you may need to rely on taxis or long walks if you don’t have your own transport. This hotel is better suited for those attending events nearby or travelling by car rather than visitors wanting easy access to Galway city centre.

The bed is comfortable, the room is clean. One thing I have to mentioned since my flight is delayed, the hotel not agree to change and cancel, it’s ok for me, I told them I will check in like very early in the morning, when I arrived the reception seems they don’t know and it takes me 10-15 mins for check in and I was with my child she is very tired at that moment. They are so strict 11am for check out time if late they gonna charge how much like 20 euro. Omg I checked in at 8:30am in the morning and take a rest , 1 hr and half they need me to leave !!!!!!!! Compare to another hotel I think they must offer you a late check out for the guest won’t be that MEAN !!!!!!!!! I was SO disappointed and I won’t choose this hotel for my next trip in Dublin.

The hotel is beautiful and steeped in history. Breakfast was very nice and location is convenient for the airport. My only issue was we stayed in room 003 and in the morning about 4am delivery trucks starting driving back and forth down the side alley which actually woke us up as the window was open. One of the trucks even decided to back up down the alley with a constant beep beep beep which was really annoying. I'm not sure why he just didn't turn around but clearly he chose not to. The other small issue was the shower took forever to drain but this is an easy fix which the hotel said they would look after. Other than that, the stay was wonderful.

Pro’s - new hotel so it was very clean and trendy. Great shower pressure. Location is pretty good. Breakfast is great but very busy so a lot of the product runs out quick, more hot options would be good. Con’s - the men working on the counters weren’t too friendly or welcoming upon arrival. no coffee station in room, they have these located in the ‘galley’ which is just sachet coffee, for the room price I think that a simple coffee machine would be appreciated by all guests.

Great location in the centre of Dublin (airport bus and other services stop right outside and you can get to other attractions fairly easily) and the price is reasonable for the location. The buffet breakfast is well stocked but sometimes the quality of the sausages and bacon lets it down.

Very clean room and bathroom. The bed is comfortable, however it was possible to feel the junction between the two single beds. The room was in the basement level, the corridor have a strange smell, bur inside the room was fine. Bathroom is great with and bright.

GGuest UserIt was okay overall — the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. However, the hotel is located near the railway station, and you can see the trains passing by from the window, which might make it a bit noisy. That said, the rooms are well soundproofed, so it didn’t bother me much. The breakfast was quite basic and overpriced, costing £17 per day.

LLaurentontherunHostel is located in a OK part of town, although I wouldn't venture out at night. Dublin doesn't look particularly safe aside from the very touristy areas. Cabins are very private but not soundproof and you will hear everything on this old building. If you stay on a three tiered cabin you will even hear people going up and down as the whole thing shakes slightly. Free peanut butter jelly sandwiches in the morning and coffee!

TTeacherTravelTimesI decided to ditch staying in the city centre based on my below par experiences there on my last trip. When looking on Trip.com, Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Dalkey was the same price as several dorm rooms in the city centre when I looked. Getting there from Dublin Airport was relatively straightforward. I took and Aircoach from the airport to Dalkey/Ulverton Road and then walked for about 15 minutes. Up to the hotel entrance. The hotel is fairly old fashioned but personally I found it very charming. The staff were well-trained in the art of hospitality, the rooms were clean, locals were in and out of the bar, restaurant and leisure centre. Furthermore, the room was spacious with tea and coffee making facilities. The tv had a nice range of channels and the bathroom had a working shower and an abundance of towels. One thing missing was a toothbrush, toothpaste and shaving kit. I was told that you can get slippers on request as well. Get the breakfast. It’s €16 and it’s a buffet style with a delicious selection of hot and cold food. There’s rashers, sausages, hash browns, pancakes, the works. I wish I could’ve eaten more! I loved that they had a wide range of ages working there as well. One of the staff tripped when she went to ask if everything was ok and she said ‘I’m fine, I’m falling for you!’ It was then that I knew that I was home. The leisure centre is one of the best I’ve come across in a while. I’ve stayed in so many places where it’s literally an empty room with a few bits of old equipment but they had loads of weights, treadmills, bikes, etc. They do classes and physiotherapy as well. The pool and jacuzzi were also excellent. Plenty of ages in both as well but it wasnt overcrowded so you’ll get a few lengths in if you want. Lastly, make sure to go for a walk about Dalkey and the surrounding areas. I spent the morning walking down to the Vico Baths, the Forty Foot (both swimming locations) and passed through Dalkey Village. Plenty of people will be out with their family and friends whether it be for a walk, bike ride, swim or a coffee and a chat. Ditch Dublin City and say yes to Dalkey!

GGuest UserI think this will be a nice stay once their remodel is done, but wait until then. When booked initially, the reservation was for the Hard Rock Hotel. About a week and a half before I arrived, NYX acquired the building. We received no notification about this from either business. The hotel was slightly outdated and undergoing the beginnings of redecoration. The staff seemed to either be hired by NYX and unfamiliar with the hotel or previous employees who were unfamiliar with the new management’s policies. For example, the manual chain lock on my door had been disabled in both of our rooms and the staff at the desk didn’t seem to understand how it had happened. They did move me to a room with a working manual lock immediately, but didn’t seem to understand why I felt the need for one as a single woman in the room and assured me that the staff would respect my privacy. The person in the other room in our booking also had his disabled but didn’t want to bother moving. The next day, housekeeping barged into his room without waiting for an answer to her knock. The person inside was just finishing dressing. Other than that, it’s just little things that haven’t yet been worked out in the management change. For example their card scanners in the rooms and elevators seem to be new and still finicky, and the person at reception hadn’t read the laundry policy on the NYX laundry slips in the rooms. The slips specified it would be back by 6pm if picked up by 8am, but she said it might be the next day. She also had me bring the laundry down to the reception desk when the slip said it would be picked up. The staff was actually really great and when I pointed it out I did get same day laundry; it seemed like a new management miscommunication. Overall, I’d recommend staying here after they’ve had a chance to settle and remodel. They were already starting to take down the Hard Rock decorations and I suspect they will also redo the older and brightly colored carpets and walls. Since we didn’t receive any notifications about the new management and redecorating, I’m not sure there will be one about that either.

GGuest UserThe Bonnington is usually my go to hotel in dublin, however the stay before this and now this stay has made me look for somewhere else in future. The staff as always were exceptional, however our room was incorrectly rang my reception at 5am, (and on a previous stay we were awoken in the middle of the night by a false fire alarm, so a full nights sleep is not a guarantee). What was the most frustrating is the general disrepair of the hotel. The rooms are fairly small so for the higher price point you are really paying for the facilities. The smaller issues like furniture being old and leather chairs peeling and flaking were not a big problem, just a mild annoyance. However the bath/shower leaking everywhere when used from the base of the tub and leaving the floor soaking wet, the steam room being out of order and us not being informed of this when or even after booking, and the crowdedness and of the pool and other facilities because of non hotel users with memberships to the leisure clubs taking up the whole hot tub and sauna at once in personal groups was frustrating. The room was also extremely hot, and the AC very very loud while not actually doing much to cool the room. There was nothing particularly stay ruining about it however if you’re paying over 200 euro for one night somewhere you would expect things to be at least average. The main redemption was the friendliness and kindness of the staff.

JJunI recently stayed at the Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin and found its location on O'Connell Street to be exceptionally convenient for exploring Dublin's main attractions. However, the breakfast experience was underwhelming. Additionally, the lobby area felt cramped during peak times, making it less inviting for relaxation. While the hotel's central location is a significant advantage, improvements in breakfast offerings and lobby comfort would enhance the overall guest experience.
