JjessFirst, upon checking in, the front desk lady told me, 'You didn't book breakfast. If you add breakfast, I can upgrade your room.' (The upgraded room was still small, but at least it had a window.) So, I thought, 'Alright, I'll buy breakfast for two then.' Next, I realized that the room type I booked a week in advance with a voucher was actually more expensive than the price for the same room type when I checked on the day itself. Since I couldn't cancel the voucher booking myself on the platform, I asked the front desk lady. She replied in a very businesslike tone, 'Differences in price cannot be refunded if booked through Ctrip; they can only be refunded if booked through the hotel's official website.' She offered no solution to my problem, so I had no choice but to accept it. Finally, we wanted to take the hotel's free shuttle to Yu Garden, but the driver said the hotel was very close to Yu Garden and told us to walk. Seriously! We're unfamiliar with the area and just wanted a convenient ride, but we couldn't even get that. So, I have to ask, what's the point of the hotel shuttle even having a stop for this attraction? I originally chose this hotel because I saw they offered a free shuttle service. Overall, I'm quite dissatisfied.

GGuest UserA place worth its price. I choose this hotel mainly due to its price which wasn’t too expensive and met my needs (a rather bigger room). It was perfect due to the fact that I had a lot of luggage and the room was spacious enough. The location is also very nice, it is near various commercial areas and around 10/12 minutes walk from the green line (line 2), which I took to go to the oriental pearl tower. Something that surprised me was the delivery robot for takeaways, which was something I never saw in other hotels during my stay in China😂. Overall, for its price, the size of the room and the great location, I would greatly recommend this hotel👍🏻.

GGuest UserThe front desk staff were really great; one of the male staff even gave me hot mineral water and local specialties when I left. When I couldn't get the hot water to work in my room, a female staff member was quick to help, and they personally delivered my takeaway orders to my room. There's also hot coffee available in the lobby. The hotel's close proximity to the subway is another plus. The only downsides were having to get up early for breakfast to avoid queuing for a table, and there's only one elevator. The room was a bit small and the facilities were older, but it was very clean and quiet. Also, it looked like some of the toiletries had been used, but thankfully I hadn't brought many of my own. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

SShanghai based coupleAs a couple who has lived in Shanghai together for almost 10 years, with one of us also Shanghainese, we have been to a lot of the best places in Shanghai, and some of the more recommended places in about 20 cities in the broader nearby area. Nothing in the city or within several hours of high-speed rail compares to a stay at Ritz-Carlton Pudong. In Asia and indeed the planet, this impeccable hotel experience stands as an iconic example of old-world elegance and service. In addition, it also offers a unique view of both some of the most modern and tallest buildings and the city’s famed Bund riverside, home to a variety of art deco architectural masterpieces. We had the incredible good fortune to start our honeymoon at the Ritz in Pudong, and this last stay was our last honeymoon treat. As always, it was a spectacular experience that we cannot recommend enough. The most extraordinary part of the stay really is the staff, they are all world class people who go above and beyond to make the Ritz-Carlton Pudong such an exceptional institution in one of the world’s leading cities. Sincere thanks to the whole team for making this happen, including Cherryl, who made reservation delightfully effortless, Chris who helped us to our room, and Joey and Ruby who helped in the evening. Special and heartfelt thanks to the whole team who make the Club Lounge experience world beating: Eddie and Junita, who both lead by example, have a deep passion for the details that create excellence, as well as being just the nicest people. They are both incredibly inspiring leaders and professionals. Claire is generally excellent there but also was phenomenally helpful to get a bag back when it was left behind, we really apricated that. Jeramy and Vivian also are amazing, as are Club Lounge’s chef’s Joe and Austin. Sherry is a real star, attentive, sharp and so helpful. Last but not least, Helen, who was the first person to greet us after we got married, and fittingly the last person to help us create personalised room key cards with our wedding photo on it, and most recently a special photo of family from our honeymoon. Those keycards are really cool keepsakes, but making them is not as simple as you might think: the image is etched into the key, not printed, so the original photo needs to be translated by AI into an image that the etching system is capable of delivering, which is really impressive. When I showed my mom who lives very far away, even she was impressed with Helen’s work. Ordinarily we prioritise new experiences over more of the same, regardless of how comfortable and nice it is. But regardless of how hard we try, we have not been able to figure out a better way to celebrate our biggest moments than a stay at the Ritz in Pudong.

AAnonymous UserLocation? Perfect. But let's talk about the rest... Walking distance to The Bund and People's Square, convenience stores downstairs, a few casual eateries nearby—honestly, you can't beat that. Would I recommend this hotel? Only if location is your absolute priority and you're skipping breakfast. Booked this hotel on the morning of arrival. With limited options for 4 people in one room, this one looked good ”1 Queen bed and 1 Double bed”, breakfast included. Checked in at 6pm, and the front desk said my room type wasn't ready yet, but they could offer me a larger room immediately. Great, I thought. Went upstairs, only to find a Queen bed + a sofa bed. Went back down to request a swap, they handled it quickly. No complaints about that. But the communication could have been much clearer. Telling me the room is bigger is fine, but maybe mention that the ”second bed” is actually a sofa bed? Comfort-wise, a sofa bed is just not the same as a proper double, and it doesn’t fit for two. The Room: Matched the photos but watch out - Cleanliness was fine, basic amenities provided. - The bed was actually comfortable. Slept well. - TV remote was broken – didn't really affect us since we weren't there to watch TV, but worth noting. - Flooring could be a hazard – some uneven, slightly sharp areas that weren't comfortable to walk on barefoot. Housekeeping: The warmest part of our stay A special shout-out to the housekeeping lady on the 5th floor. We only stayed 2 nights and didn't need full cleaning—just wanted fresh towels in the morning. She was genuinely attentive, proactively checking if we had enough bottled water or toilet paper without us having to ask. Her warm, thoughtful attitude stood out in the best way. Breakfast: Good food, but chaos and attitude The breakfast spread itself was decent—quite a variety. But the management of the breakfast area? A mess. You get checked in at the door and then left to find your own table. - Day 1: Walked around for 5 minutes. No table. A cleaning lady helped us find one outside the dining area. - Day 2: Same thing. When I pointed it out to the breakfast receptionist at the entrance. To be fair, she did go inside to look for a table for us. Even she couldn't find one. She walked around, came back empty-handed, and still had that unhappy look on her face. I get that she tried to help, but the attitude? Yeah, that part stayed. Also, some guests' behavior was unexpected, half-eaten bread left at the coffee station, guests packing food into their own containers. Not the hotel's fault, but it added to the chaos. Lobby: Actually quite nice Gotta give credit where it's due—the lobby is lovely. There's a piano, comfortable seating areas, and a mobile library with books. It's a genuinely relaxing space. The Final Straw: Last day. Check-out time. Staff handed us a small gift, hand cream souvenir. Nice, right? Except they insisted we leave a positive review on Trip.com right there, in front of them. Came the comment: ”But we already gave you the gift.” Said in a tone that made it feel less like a gesture and more like a transaction. I declined and said I'd do it later. Her face dropped immediately, then turned to other staffs, started speaking in Mandarin, and the way the others looked at us was uncomfortable. Like we were the difficult ones. Look, I get it. Reviews matter. Hotels need them. But asking for reviews should be done with zero pressure. This felt forced, awkward, and left a sour taste right at the end. And honestly? It made me even more determined to write this review honestly. Because this is what actually happened.

GGuest UserThe hotel offers convenient scheduled shuttle services to and from Disney, the front desk staff are very friendly, and the breakfast is plentiful. They even have late-night snacks available when you return in the evening, which is a thoughtful touch. The room environment is also great. This will definitely be my top choice for my next Disney trip.

GGuest UserI was really looking forward to this trip, and the hotel's service started even before I left. I had already communicated with the butler about the room, and when I arrived late at night, the turndown service was already done, making it feel just like coming home. The hotel surroundings are very quiet, and the soundproofing itself is excellent. Two people with terrible sleep quality surprisingly had two good nights' sleep. Every staff member at the hotel was wonderful during my stay. The professionalism of an established hotel was evident in every detail, making you feel how much the hotel cares for its guests, especially Lily, Deslin, Angel, and many other staff members whose names I don't know. It was a truly memorable stay, and I will definitely be back.

LLuodemakehubilieI truly experienced the quality and service of a high-end hotel. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around, and the overall design is subtly luxurious and stylish. The room was clean and tidy, well-laid out, and fully equipped with amenities. The bedding was soft and comfortable, leading to a great night's sleep. The staff provided meticulous service; they were warm and attentive without being overbearing, which made for a very comfortable stay. It's suitable for both business travel and vacations; the experience was exceptional, and I highly recommend it. The dedicated concierge service from Katrina and Emily was also excellent.

GGuest UserFacing the Suzhou River, the room gets great natural light and has a beautiful view. There's a parking lot available, which is really convenient. The breakfast has a good variety too, and the service is excellent. Plenty of restaurants, convenience stores, and coffee shops nearby. Great value for money, especially for a family road trip.
