GGuest UserThe room was clean and the single beds were absolutely huge. I made a mistake with my booking, but the hotel was incredibly helpful and very accommodating in making the necessary changes for me.
The location is good and the walk from the airport arrivals hall is short, but the route was a bit confusing—the signs could have been larger or placed more frequently along the way. Another minor downside was the bathroom shower, which was a bit impractical as water easily ended up all over the floor. Overall, the great service made it a very nice stay!

GGuest UserI wouldn't recommend this hotel. First off, the triple room photos online were misleading and didn't match the actual room, which put us in an unsuitable space. Secondly, the hotel's service attitude was very average; we could never get through to the front desk when calling. While the room initially seemed okay, we discovered later that the cleanliness was poor, with colored stains on the towels. The only upside is its location, being the closest hotel to the airport. Unless you absolutely need to stay near the airport, I'd advise against it.

GGuest UserVisited this hotel for 5 days stay , room was lovely and big ,lovely shower, black out curtains, beautiful super king size bed , breakfast was worth the money , unfortunately the main meal was a big disappointment as very expensive for little amount and very tasteless , parking was good , lots of parking spaces , only down fall about the parking location there is only one entrance to the main building, one way in and one way out and you have to pay 10 pound a night very disappointed in parking and main meal , overall staff friendly, clean, nice stay

GGuest UserI am going to make a point about the service in Novotel: I was greeted by Gita and she has done an absolute excellent job. I have asked for a quiet room so I can have some sleep as had an early flight. I have passed my special thank you to Gita when I was leaving, through a receptionist man, early morning. The hotel room was ready on my arrival but obviously it needs updating as looks scratchy, and shabby but it didn't effect me at all, for night before the flight it was excellent! I would definitely recommend the hotel and will be back again. Many thanks to Gita and manager Jastina.

GGuest UserWe had a good stay although our sleep was disrupted as we could not turn off the air con we tried numerous things numerous times and it would not turn off it was loud and kept us awake.
Breakfast was OK although no real vegetarian options such as veggie/vegan sausages etc and had to wait a while for things to be topped up.
Restaurant was nice however and staff were friendly.

GGuest UserI booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children.

CChris HewathI recently stayed at Holiday Inn Colchester and overall had a positive experience. The hotel was very clean throughout and the reception staff provided excellent service, they were friendly, efficient and welcoming.
However, the jacuzzi was not operational during my stay, which was disappointing as it was one of the facilities I was looking forward to using.
Despite this, the cleanliness and quality of service made the stay comfortable.

Room was spacious wardrobe big enough for a 4 yr old to sleep in ( excuse my humour ) and very clean
Evening meal portions great food very tasty & staff looked after granddaughter well with keeping her occupied .
Breakfast was a little of a let down as under the warmer food was still cold and bacon very dry … cheese was dried up with the cold meats only I flavour yoghurt I wish I had ordered off the fresh cooked menu of eggs selection ( but I never left hungry )
Despite second paragraph I would defo return

__M1890800****The hotel is right next to the University of Essex, making it very convenient to get to the school. The rooms are spacious with balconies and great views. However, the bathroom facilities are a bit basic; the shower curtain is narrow, barely covering the entire shower area, so water splashes everywhere. Public transportation is inconvenient; it's a 10-minute walk to the bus stop.

GGuest UserFabulous location, if you need the airport. But, you have to bus/cab/drive into Southend/Rayleigh/wherever if not wanting the airport.
15min walk to various eateries, if you don't want to eat in the hotel, like Toby Carvery, Hungry Horse, African, fish and chips.
Majority of staff seen were happy and chatty, nice to see.
5* breakfast, would definitely recommend as had lots of choice.
Room was clean, included bed, desk, chair, armchair, safe, kettle, iron, toiletries, bath&shower.
