"We have spent a week here and really enjoyed it! The staff was always smiling, helpful and friendly! They greeted us warmly and immediately remembered our room number and eating preferences. That made us feel really welcomed. The breakfasts were fresh and delicious. The hotel has a pool located in beautiful garden. The pool and its area were clean, neat and comfortable to use. The room was quiet (we had the one facing the garden), nice and clean. We had a rented car throughout most of our stay but there are bus stops close to the hotel. The whole stay was super relaxing!"

"What a brilliant family run hotel, brothers Harry and Costa did everything possible to make our stay perfect. The rooms were clean and maintained daily, the Breakfast, Lunch and dinner buffets were plentiful with lots of choice and tasted amazing and the tables were kept clear by our waitress the delightful and ever smiling Maria. The pool area was perfect and always quiet during our visit. A bus stops every 30 minutes (when on time) and will take you to Heraklion one way or Rethymnon the other for 2 Euros per Journey and stops at the bottom of the road to the hotel. Please note that there is quite a steep road up to the hotel which would not suit the old or infirm, however there is a small car park around the back if you are driving, also Harry or Costa are more than happy to drive down the short road and pick you up. On the plus side of this, the hotel is purched on the side of the hill and affords great views of the sea."

"Stayed in this hotel for a week in September 2024. Firstly, the hotel itself is quite nice. Nice room and nice pool but very little atmosphere. The lobby was almost in complete darkness and the “mini market” was always in the dark with basically no items for sale in it and stock was not replenished the entire week we were there. The “fitness corner” looks good in pictures but in reality it is a dark windowless cupboard with basically zero equipment and the one treadmill was out of order. No air con or windows in this room either. I’d almost class it as unusable. The food at breakfast was basic but okay. A couple of flies in the the food which I found really off putting and perhaps maybe some lids or covers would be a good idea. The pool was nice and beds were comfy. The pool bar don’t let you pay when you order drinks or snacks and instead it is added to a tab linked to your room which I don’t like as then when you checkout you’re met with a large bill rather than being able to pay as you go. There’s a bus stop close by and you can buy tickets at reception which was vital for us to get around as the hotel location itself is really poor. You’re around a 40 minute walk to the nearest bars and restaurants and there’s nothing around the hotel except fields and dirt. They did have a Greek evening which was really good and the dancers were fab. All in all, our stay wasn’t terrible but I’d say it is more a 3 star hotel than a 4."

"We flew home from this hotel just last night, after spending 10 nights here for 6.5K. 2 adults and 4 children we had no choice but to book 2 rooms, luckily we managed to book 1 room with a private pool & the other without. 1 adult with 2 children in both rooms. We arrived at the hotel around 12am ish. The hotel had left leftover food from dinner for us to eat, we where extremely grateful as we was very hungry and unaware of food times for surrounding restaurants and the last thing we wanted to do was leave the hotel after traveling with 4 children aged 7-15. We had booked superior rooms, 1 with a private pool. There was nothing superior about the room if I'm honest. They where both extremely small, the room with the pool was smaller, the shower door was right next to the hotel door, and it opened outwards, tiny bathroom that remained soaked if someone had a shower. There was only the bathroom mirror in the room without the pool, no where to hang towels to dry (both rooms on ground floor). Every single morning we where waken with the cleaners walking and shouting up and down the hallways, using their cleaning trolleys so if your looking forward to a lay in, ground floor isn't a great place to be! The food was ok, breakfast consisted of multiple choices of fruits, yoghurts, cereals, pastry's and some cooked food. We found the Lunch options and dinner options very repetitive, so much so we were sick of eating chips and pizza. We had to eat out a few times to try and look forward to some food. Poolside food was chips (yummy ones) pizza, hotdogs, burgers, gyros, chicken nuggets and fish fingers. your typical all inclusive poolside snacks and it done the job! Hot food was kept warm and cold food was kept cold, all kept fresh away from flys and bugs ect. The cocktails and mocktails were really good, and was always served with a smile from the lovely staff. Soft drinks on tap (Pepsi, 7up, lemon, orange and water ect). (Strawberry coconut cocktail was my personal favourite). I simply can not write this review without mentioning Rico the entertainer, he is genuinely a pure happy soul. Having had conversations with him about his life and watching him bring everyone together for games during the day and entertainment in the evening, he really did make the day/evenings so enjoyable!! My children will certainly miss him and aqua gym!! I must mention fiyena (I hope I have spelt that correct) the lifeguard. She is outstanding, she is firm but very fair. She will ensure every child is safe but she will also make sure every single person around the pool is having fun and enjoying themselves, she really is a star who pitches in with cleaning plates and rubbish as well as helping children with their goggles and inflateables. What I will say is the first day we got there the floor was so slippy it had adults and children falling over, a major accident waiting to happen. I believe she made the hotel provide some safety mats to help, especially down slippe"

"This hotel is so tired, the rooms are small and full of cracks, damp in the bathroom. The shower is tiny and it foams up out of the drain next to the toilet. The bedding is stained and old. It needs some serious attention. The pool is nice a bit small for the amount of people there. No towels are provided so we bought some from the shop across the road. The bar ran out of drink and we were left with either whiskey or vodka. We ended buying our own from the shop. The food is awful. Very limited choice at all meals. You were lucky if the food was lukewarm. You are strongly encouraged to clear up after yourself, plates, glasses, everything. Really disappointed. We ended up spending so much money on eating out. The few restaurants around it are lovely and most do takeaways as well. But wow did it add up. Considering we were all inclusive! The town is a bus ride away and is lovely and the day trips are amazing. Crete is a beautiful place but stay somewhere else."

"Spent a relaxing week, at this smaller hotel. This created a very peaceful atmosphere. Every where was so clean and tidy. Food was delicious and plentiful. Rooms were spacious, the sea view and sunsets were so beautiful. All the staff go above and beyond to help make your stay a very happy memory. My only criticism, is no hand sanitizer around or in the restaurant. I witnessed several people coming out the WC without washing hands."

"Three days into a seven-night stay and we’re already wishing we’d booked somewhere else. The food has been, without question, the biggest disappointment. Calling it “varied” would be generous. At most meals there are around three main dishes to choose from, and somehow none of them manage to look particularly appealing. By day three, we’ve already seen the same uninspiring options making repeat appearances. More often than not, we’ve ended up eating chips or plain pasta because they were the most appealing bet. When your holiday meals become an exercise in damage limitation, something has gone badly wrong. For an all-inclusive hotel, the drinks selection is equally poor. If you’re not a fan of ouzo, raki, beer, or wine, you’re pretty much out of luck. Even then, drinks are only available between 11am and 10pm. We’ve stayed in budget hotels with a better selection and more generous service. What’s most frustrating is that the hotel itself has potential. The pool is lovely, the views are stunning, and the sunsets are genuinely breathtaking. Unfortunately, a beautiful backdrop can only carry a holiday so far. You can’t eat the scenery, and after several days of forcing down mediocre meals and making do with an extremely limited drinks offering, the views have started to feel like a distraction from the hotel’s shortcomings rather than a redeeming feature. We booked this holiday expecting a relaxing all-inclusive experience. Instead, we’ve spent the first half of the trip discussing where else we’d rather be eating. If food and drink are important parts of your holiday, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere. A hotel can get away with dated rooms. It can get away with minor issues. What it can’t get away with is making guests dread mealtimes. Sadly, that’s exactly where we are."

Begeti Bay Hotel ★★★★
"Just back from 2 weeks at the Begeti Bay Hotel. The hotel was lovely and clean, our standard room was bright and modern with aircon, fridge, tv ( No uk channels), kettle, small safe and a private small balcony. All staff were very friendly and cheerful and looked happy to be working there. The food was good and varied - buffet style with plenty of choice at all meals, and always free tables either inside or outside. Breakfast 07:30 to 10:30, lunch 12:30 to 14:30, dinner 19:00 to 21:00. and snacks available from the bar 15:30 to 18:00. The choice of drinks was plentiful with cocktails, beer wine, local spirits etc. and were available as part of the all inclusive package between 10:30 and 22:00. After 22:00 the bar remained open until midnight but drinks had to be paid for. There were no organised 'activities' apart from a very popular Greek Night on Thursdays, and there was never a problem getting sunbeds round the pool, with pool towels available for 10 Euros deposit each (in cash). The tourist tax was payable on check-in, also in cash, so good to have sufficient Euros to cover this. As is clear from the hotel description, it is in a quiet location but on the bus route between Heraklion and Rethymnon and sandy beaches are just a 5 minute stroll away. We hired a car and that was very useful to make the occasional trip out as well as getting from/to the airport. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed and comfortable holiday."

Kapsaliana Village Hotel ★★★★
"The hotel’s concept with various rooms in a beautifully restored old village is beautiful. The grounds and various buildings are quaint and very well done. Very high end. Service is excellent. The setting is quiet and serene. However during our 6-night stay there were at least one family every day with small children who are just being children, but their constant tantrums disrupt the peace and quiet for all the other guests, who are without exception adult couples, undoubtedly here for the same reason we were - to relax in the magical peaceful setting. Forget the pool if the kiddies are there - constant noise, crying, and commotion. Why is this hotel not an adults only hotel????? We would gladly pay a bit more for that. My other comment is about the dinners here. They are trying too hard to be a foodie destination but IMHO they missed the mark. The food is just ok and it is very expensive - about twice the price as just about any other of the many restaurants we visited over several weeks on Crete. Not worth it. They should stick with some more traditional food, or at least offer options, and lower their prices. We ended up going out somewhere else every night for dinner for great food at half the price. However I must add that the included breakfast spread was over the top great. Just fix the dinner menu."

"Incredibly friendly, courteous staff. Very warm and family-like. The complex is very well maintained. The pool bar/restaurant has a very large selection at very fair prices. The quality is absolutely convincing. The rooms are typical of the country and correspond to the category. A little older, but well maintained. The only thing that would be cool would be a few more power sockets in the room. The location is a dream for a family vacation for swimming. The hotel is right on the beach, the first supermarket is about a minute's walk away. We have rarely felt so warmly received and welcomed."

"We stopped in Rethymno for a few days while holidaying in Crete . Whilst the beaches weren’t the best in Crete the resort was unbelievable . The fitout is so classy the gardens are so amazing and the pool is very special. The interior decorations are classic style but so fresh . Thanks to Ioanna and Elleni who were our customer service leads were beyond helpful. All other staff we encountered were of a world class standard. Well done Greco Hotels Another benefit if you don’t feel like going to the old town there is an amazing taverna accross the road called Levantes. Family run and the food is great"
