Hôtel Mercure Avignon Centre Palais des Papes

"The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right next to the Papal Palace! However, the facilities are on par with a budget motel, definitely not what you'd expect from a 4-star hotel; it barely scrapes by as a 3-star. Perhaps because it's an old building, the hallways are incredibly narrow and dim. The room was tiny, with no trash can except for a miniature one in the bathroom. There wasn't even a proper desk, just a small 40cm ledge. No gym or pool. The floorboards creaked loudly with every step, making me worried about disturbing the neighbors. There's central air conditioning, but no matter what temperature you set it to, the air coming out was the same as outside. No complimentary bottled water. The most frustrating thing was that the housekeeping staff would always mess up my toiletries, and one time my razor was even disassembled—I suspect the cleaner might have used it themselves 🤢"

"This hotel is conveniently located near the train station, just outside the old city walls. While it's a bit of a walk to the city center and the Palais des Papes, the hotel rooms are well-equipped and very clean. The breakfast selection is plentiful, and the service is warm and friendly."

"For those who want to stay in a historic Franzi building. The location is excellent! However: the WiFi cuts out as soon as you step into the room, and the hallways smell of antiquity (an acquired taste, but what do you expect from authenticity? There are many unusual artifacts in the nooks and crannies, in the hall, and in the restaurant). However: there's noise from all sides from early morning. The breakfast is excellent for €13!"

"The room does not have gauze curtains. The weather was hot and there were mosquitoes during the few days I was there. I could not open the window for natural ventilation and the ventilation was poor. If you need to clean the room, you must tell me in advance (I didn't tell you when I checked in), otherwise it will not be cleaned. The hotel is in a good location, close to the train station, but there are many homeless people on that street. Overall, it is average."

Garlande Hôtel Avignon Centre

"The hotel is located in the old city, it is quite old, and the room is quite cozy. There is no elevator, if you have heavy luggage, it is probably tiring to carry it upstairs. The aunt at the front desk will be more enthusiastic to give you suggestions on how to visit A**weng. The disadvantage is that the room is not big, two people plus two luggages, there is no room to walk in the room."

"It was a girls' trip, with four of us—my best friend and I, each with our mothers. We were on a self-driving tour. We initially stayed at an F1 hotel, thinking it would be decent since it's a chain, but the environment was a bit shocking. We quickly found this hotel, Medieval, on Trip.com. The only downside is that it's located in the old town, so we couldn't drive directly to it. We ended up taking our lighter luggage and walking the rest of the way in. The hotel is surrounded by many beautiful attractions and restaurants. Highly recommend!"

COWOOL Avignon

"There's very little to criticize about this hotel. The rooms are quite spacious, good quality, and clean. The hotel's amenities are excellent: fitness center, kitchen, games room, cinema, office space, and more! The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, as are the other guests. The tram, just 5 minutes away, is very convenient as it provides direct access to Avignon city center. The shopping center is a 10-minute walk away. The only slight drawback I can find with this hotel is its location. While it certainly has advantages with the tram and the shopping center, the surrounding neighborhoods don't inspire confidence, especially in the evening when some rather shady characters can be found loitering near the buildings. However, the hotel remains safe; there's no risk of theft or assault while you're there, so no worries!"
