Premier Inn Bideford

Premier Inn Bideford

📍 Atlantic Park Way, Bideford
★★★★ 7.5 (41 reviews)

"We stayed for one night.. checked in on the afternoon of our stay. The room was clean and tidy and the staff were friendly. The room itself was too hot. The thermostat lowest settling was 17 degrees and we were still melting. The window does not open at all and there was condensation running off it in the morning because of no ventilation. I'd read reviews of the air conditioning being noisy. I'd have happily put up with the noise if it meant not melting"

Wayfarer Inn

Wayfarer Inn

📍 Lane End Rd, Instow
★★★★ 8.4 (48 reviews)

"We stayed for three nights in two different rooms. The rooms, shower, etc were nice and clean. I would also recommend the breakfast. The personnel was great and very kind. I don't place 5 stars because the matresses and the wifi were not good at all."

The Waterfront Inn

The Seagate

The Seagate

📍 The Quay, Bideford, Appledore
★★★ 8.9 (68 reviews)

"We stayed in room 19 for one night. It was a large room with a great shower and big bathroom including a bath. This room is in The Quay a few minutes' walk from the pub so luckily the weather was dry for our walks between the pub and the accommodation. The view from our room across to Instow was great although sadly the weather was cloudy and drizzly to really appreciate it! The food in the pub is excellent and the staff we met were all very friendly."

Fosfelle Glamping

Fosfelle Glamping

📍 FOSFELLE COUNTRY HOUSE HOTEL, Hartland

"Had a lovely time on Bertram bus and the farm. Good welcoming hosts, fun animals and a lovely village to visit in the evening. Milky Way being little over 5 mins away was a nice bonus for the kids as well"

The Royal George

The Royal George

📍 Irsha St, Bideford, Appledore
★★★ 9.0 (27 reviews)

"We stayed at the pub yesterday for a birthday treat. The room was lovely, very clean and had everything you need /expect. We also had a meal in the evening which was so good that we have vowed to go back. The value, excellent service and friendly staff made the whole experience beyond what I was expecting. We will be back."

The West Country Inn

The West Country Inn

📍 Bursdon Moor, Clovelly
★★★ 7.4 (37 reviews)

"Drove past this place on a visit to Clovelly and saw on the sign that it did a carvery we didn’t have long so we thought we’d pop in and have a quick meal, On entering the pub we were met by a member of staff (possibly the landlady) we asked if they had room for a carvery to which she told us she did and we were seated. We noticed it was cold, the seats were wooden, hard and it was draughty, My wife wanted to put a coat back on, but she thought it might seem rude, so she didn’t. Only 6 others seated in the whole place, this was 12.10. We ordered food at 12:15 and then was told a table of 2-3 people would be coming in at 12:30, so there might be a bit of a wait ! Not sure why, because there was only six people before us, and it was a carvery after all. We sat and listened whilst the table of six placed their orders (I think the landlady would benefit from the piece of paper or notepad or a tablet to write orders on) she struggled to remember what was ordered, it would probably help her massively. I went to the bar to order my drinks and food and waitedwhilst she input the tables orders into a till, took a few minutes. On ordering two drinks I did notice the landlady was on her own, and there was no other staff helping her. unfortunately the Camden’s ale I received was noticeably cloudy, I could see the server was busy so didn’t want to moan straight away so took a sip and realised it was probably the first out of the day so have it a go. Why oh why don’t staff or landladies and landlords take notice of the drinks that they’re serving the people I cloudy beer is not a good beer. She seemed to be trying so hard I couldn’t bring myself to ask for another and took it. Having given our order we realised it wasn’t a carvery after all, we were offered a choice of meats, but was not told of any prices, or the fact it wasn’t actually a carvery. That’s sad we went with it because we were there and it was raining outside . 45 minutes later, my food turned up . Nice big plate not a great deal of meat, but the veg that came out on a plate look really nice Frustrating to see that only had four pieces of what seems like one medium size potato. I don’t understand why people scrimp on potatoes, they must be the cheapest veg around and no mention about asking for more if we needed it . To be fair, the roast was quite nice. The gravy was watery and tasteless but the rest of it made up for that. . We paid and left . I didn’t finish my pint, I couldn’t. And that’s unheard of. Could’ve been a bit better experience. If we did known it wasn’t a carvery. We were offered more veg if needed. It was warmer and my beer wasn’t cloudy. I probably won’t return it I wish them the best, it’s not a great time for pubs but I hope this helps them make a better experience for others.."

Instow Barton

Instow Barton

📍 Rectory Ln, Instow
★★★★ 9.9 (40 reviews)

"This Bed and Breakfast is the finest we’ve ever been to. Caroline and Colin really know what they are doing. Caroline is energized and welcoming with a “can do” attitude that shines. Colin cooked up the most delicious breakfast. Our room was lovely and our bed linens were crisp and smelled so luscious. We melted right in. We didn’t want to leave. Our regret was we were there only one night and didn’t get to enjoy the garden."

Sailors Rest

Sailors Rest

📍 20 The Quay, Appledore
★★★ 8.7 (31 reviews)

"We stayed at the Sailor’s Rest for 2 nights at the end of August and found it to be good value considering the time of year. We managed to park for free just outside on the road without any trouble. Check in was straightforward – the instructions were clear and we got into the building and collected our key easily from the secure key box. Our room (no. 6) was up in the loft space. It was cosy, clean and nice and quiet. No view from the bedroom itself as it only had skylights, but the bathroom had a lovely sea view. The Nespresso machine and fridge were nice additions. We paid a bit more to have breakfast included, which meant walking down the road to the Royal George. Some previous reviewers seemed to see this as a downside but we actually enjoyed the short stroll each morning, even in the rain one day. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and definitely worth it. Overall, a really comfortable stay and somewhere we’d happily book again if ever in the area."

Premier Inn Bideford ★★★★
"Nice hotel , staff could be a lot better ! Woman on reception said room not ready in a very matter of fact way even though it was 3-30 pm She said u can check in from 3 but the room not necessarily available 🤷🏻‍♂️ No point in checking in then . Very curt and did change her tone when I snapped back at her . First impressions are important . The bar / restaurant shuts at 10 for food promptly . One of the bar staff was also a bit rude Ordered a whisky with ice no mixer he put coke in , no big deal but when I asked him to change it his attitude was a bit off saying anyone can make a mistake, true but no need for a bad attitude. Tubby guy mid -late 30s . Seemed to have the hump thereafter . Hotel itself clean good location no faults just improve the staff's attitude please . Maybe they were having an off day"

"Had a great evening meal on New years Eve Not all the food choices were available from the menu as they had been so busy but we were told as we were given the menus. My husband had the Devin Ruby Red burger and he said it was probably the best burger he had ever had !! I had chicken fajitas. They were very large but so good I ate them all. There were 6 of us in total and we all enjoy the food. We had a good evening but we left before New year as one of our party wasn’t feeling well and we had quite a walk home. But we left the pub in full swing with people dancing and having a great time the atmosphere was very good. We will definitely return."

Fosfelle Glamping ★★★
"Situated near the village of Hartland this is a wonderful little camping site set in the North Devon countryside. The village is walking distance away and has 3 pubs and two local shops including a post office along with a cafe and artisan shops. The site itself is a mix of 5 motorhome / camper van pitches and some glamping accommodation (old buses). You share the field with donkeys and alpacas. The couple who run the site are lovely and very friendly. It also has a games room and hot tub. We hired a couple of electric bikes from the site and spend a wonderful day on them exploring the stunning coastline and byways near to the site."

"What a gem of a place on the North Devon Coast. Sadly, we could only stay one night as we were en route down the coast heading to Cornwall. We stayed with another couple and booked the two bedroom suite in the main building above the restaurant and it was a delight. Tastefully decorated and nicely furnished, it was perfect for four people. The beds were comfy with nice bed linens and towels, and the balcony terrace jutting out over the estuary waters below is a real plus. It was drizzly for us but in more clement weather you could sit there for hours. Our stay was completed with a lovely breakfast in the restaurant below. The food was great, the staff were lovely and the endless sea views were breathtaking. We’d definitely return if we find ourselves in the area again."

"We booked in 2023 but when we got there the pub was closed. It was new year's day and the last day of our holiday so we had absolutely nothing to eat. So we decided to try again because the landlady had explained that one of her customers had been taken ill and she'd had to close. I booked believing it would be busy and explained i was vegan to which she replied that wasn't a problem and she'd get 'chef' to sort something out. When we got there it was sooo cold inside. The landlady said the one vegan option was a tart tatin. No other vegan options. So I went with that and my husband had the pie of the day. I said vegetables would be great. Vegetables arrived which were cauliflower 'cheese' and 'creamy' mash which was in the same dish as the sprouts, broccoli and carots. They'd been pre cooked and microwaved, by the look of it. Absolutely tasteless. So for £15 I got a tart and some chips!! Husband's pie was quite good but swimming in gravy. Beer was £5.80 and a small bottle of wine £6.30. Very very disappointing"

"Lovely B&B on quiet country lane, a few minutes walk from the SW Coast path. Caroline and Colin were very welcoming hosts and cooked us a delicious breakfast (best pancakes I’ve had). The room was spacious, with comfy beds and views out over the churchyard. Homemade cake in the room on arrival was a nice touch as well. Short walk to good restaurants (we had a decent meal at the Boathouse). Looking forward to returning next year to pick up the path again. Thanks so much for a lovely stay."

"2nd time staying here & was once again very impressed. Bright clean room, beautifully presented & overlooked the estuary so had incredible views. Breakfast was served at the Royal George just a short walk away. Fridge in room was handy for holding some cold drinks. Rain shower was easy to use but be aware if you are on the bigger side as the door to get in was quite narrow. Will be back for sure!"
