Rushaga Gorilla Lodge
8.4 (41 reviews)

Rushaga Gorilla Lodge ★★★

📍 Rushaga near UWA Park HQ, Bufumbira

"The view from the balcony is just great, you have the entire Bwindi Impenetrable Forest at your feet. I sit in my wooden chair and listen to the jungle sound. The service here is not that great, they try, but the menu was kind of poor. The villas are the main attraction for sure, people come here for the view, not for the food. As it was cold in the room they places under the sheets a hot water bottle bag. the bed was 2m wide, the water bag was 20 cm in the middle of the bed :) anyway they have extra blankets, but it's not comfortable. But you are within a distance of just 15 minutes’ walk away from the gorilla tracking starting point. The resort is build on 6 acres of jungle, so this is why you want to stay here. Enjoy!"

Kisoro comfort Inn

Kisoro comfort Inn

📍 Kabale - Kisoro Rd, Chahi, Kisoro district, Bufumbira

"I had an absolutely delightful stay at Kisoro Comfort Inn and would recommend it to anyone visiting the Kigezi. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. They were friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure I was comfortable. One of the highlights was the food, the on-site restaurant serves delicious local cuisine freshly prepared and full of natural flavor. The breakfast was generous and satisfying, a great way to start the day. I'll definitely be back!"

Chameleon Hill Forest Lodge ★★★★

📍 Lake Mutanda/ Kisoro, Bwindi Impenetrable National, Bufumbira

"We arrived at the Chameleon Hill Lodge on 23rd of December and stayed there for 3 nights. The atmosphere was great, the view incredible and the staff so friendly and courteous. The rooms and lobby were with so many details und beautiful colors, where you can relaxe or have a cup of tea, read a book or just enjoy the wonderful view. The stay was part of our honeymoon and the staff was very helpful to do everything to feel welcome. Hopefully we can come back at our silver wedding anniversary."

Mutolere Coffee Pot Guest Houses

Mutolere Coffee Pot Guest Houses ★★★

📍 Hospital, Bufumbira

"I am a frequent visitor to Kisoro and just completed another two week stay at the Mutolere Coffee Pot Guest Houses. In all, I have lodged here for > 6 months total over the last 10 years, and this has become my 'go-to' lodging for all my visits to Kisoro. The site is pleasant and quiet, outside of the hustle and bustle of Kisoro Town and located adjacent to the St Francis Hospital and the School of Nursing in Mutolere. The grounds are quiet, pleasant and abundantly planted with flowering bushes and trees. The breakfasts on the bed-and-breakfast program are simply wonderful and provide a wide variety of options suitable to any palate. The relatively recent addition of the "stone house" building serves as meeting place, breakfast area, and community site, complete with fireplace and kitchen supplied with sodas and drinks. The area is very safe and I have never had any concerns for security or safety throughout my numerous stays. At night one can see millions of stars on a cloudless night, yet it is also well lit for safety and comfort. Amenities are basic but clean, with individual kitchen areas bathrooms, sitting areas, and bathrooms. Laundry services are available at an excellent price. WiFi is available. The staff is wonderful and friendly.... special shout out to Alfred, the property manager, who has always been very proactive with visitors and attentive to any needs that may come up. The property is also linked to the Coffee Pot Cafe in Kisoro Town which provides a consistent and reliable menu of food options. The local staff at the Guest Houses and Coffee Pot Cafe can help travelers sort through the myriad of touristic options available in Kisoro District and link them to resources to arrange excursions if desired... mountain climbing on the nearby Virunga Range, relaxing lake experiences at Lake Mutanda or Bunyoni, Gorilla tracking, Golden Monkey tracking, Hiking, coffee plantations, and more. Overall the Mutolere Coffee Pot Guest Houses has been a consistently excellent location for my lodging needs in Kisoro."

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge ★★★★

📍 VPH7+5RG, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rushaga Gate, Bufumbira

"Me and wife stayed at this hotel for 1 night during our trip to Uganda. This hotel, which served as a base to go on the wonderful gorillas trekking in Bwindi is set on a nice forest environment. We were given half a hut (huts here comprise two bedrooms), a fairly large room with a toilet and a balcony, overlooking the “impenetrable forest”. The hotel also has a fairly good WiFi everywhere, which is surprising, given the location. The hotel has a nice restaurant, where we ate dinner and breakfast, preparing for the trekking. The staff was always helpful, which made our stay very comfortable."

Santaviva Hotel
6.9 (3 reviews)

Santaviva Hotel ★★★★

📍 Mutanda Rd, Bufumbira

"Santaviva is a lovely little hotel in the heart of Kisoro. Ivan, the manager, is always available to deal with whatever request you have, and he even runs his own ecotourism business from it. If you're coming to Uganda to visit Bwindi or Mgahinga national parks and the mountain gorillas, this is a great place to stay."

Gorilla Safari Lodge
9.2 (27 reviews)

Gorilla Safari Lodge ★★★★

📍 Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Bufumbira

"We loved our stay at Gorilla Safari Lodge. The location is superb, close to where we start the gorilla trek and walking distance to some shops and a Batwa community. It has beautiful views onto the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. We would sit out of the afternoon on the deck and just admire it. The rooms are very generous, clean, and have everything you need (including running hot water). The staff are exceptional. Sylvia, who looked after our room, prepared our hot water bottles when needed, made our little internal fire at night and always left a beautiful message when the beds were done, did it with a beautiful smile. We felt very special. Godwin who looked after.us for drinks and dinner, always had a welcoming smile and was so attentive and accommodating. Innocent, who was our driver and guide, was so knowledgeable, generous and kind. You are definitely in safe hands with him driving. Ezra , who manages the team and lodge always greeted us at the door and asked how our day or sleep was and if we needed anything. The food was lovely, and ala carte. Amazing place! Amazing people!"

Bwindi Orugano Lodge ★★★

📍 E Nyabwishenya, Bufumbira

"We can wholeheartedly recommend the Lodge. Bob and his team are wonderful. All staff made us feel at home. The service was topnotch, the food was very tasty. The view from the rooms are breathtaking. If ever I will come back, I will stay there. Thank you again for all the help Bob."

Kaara Gorilla Mountain Lodge
9.8 (11 reviews)

Kaara Gorilla Mountain Lodge

📍 UWA Rushaga Road, Bufumbira

"This lodge is out of the way up an extremely steep and rocky road (track). Once you are there the view is stunning but we were unable to enjoy it from our deck because we were located next to a building site (a new set of rooms at the lodge) so there were electric power tools in use all afternoon. The rooms are reached via steep and uneven steps (which when we left were slippery from rain and in total darkness). We were overcharged ridiculously for drinks and when we queried the bill, we were fobbed off. The best part of our stay was our housekeeper who was genuinely helpful and went out of his way to take care of us. Unless you are fit and a non-drinker (who likes scary roads that add unnecessary time to each trip), stay elsewhere."

Rushaga Gorilla Lodge ★★★
"Incredible staff! Jackie is one of the kindest persons I've met. Clean and comfortable lodge with delicious food. The road to this lodge is an adventure all by itself, but well worth the trip. Most travelers stay here for the gorilla treks in Bwindi. We stayed almost a week to rest after flying from USA to Uganda. We bird watched, visited the Batwa, enjoyed the local dancers, trekked to the gorillas and relaxed. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, with a lovely view, and the food was delicious. Couldn't ask for more!"

"We stayed here for 3 nights with our two (30 year old nephews) and friends on our 2 week tour of primate tracking. The property sits on a mountain at 6000 feet, overlooking Lake Mutanda. One day we did some mountain biking from the lodge. It is quite challenging. One Day 2, our guides drove us two hours to do the Golden Monkey Tracking. Another incredible experience. Our final day, some of us had Spensa take us out on the boat. We did some birding and exploring. Our nephews took out the kayaks. The food is delicious. Phiona was always there willing to assist in anyway. They do a phenomenal job cleaning your boots and gaiters. Charles is always checking in to see if you need anything. We had one of the best rooms (14). Our friends were in the attached room (13). We could hear them at times through the door BUT as far as the sunrises - these are the best rooms. BUT BEWARE, these rooms are a long, uphill to the lodge itself. Our friends had Rooms 9 & 10 but the sunrises weren’t as good. Rooms were spotless and the shower was the best for our entire 2 weeks in Uganda."

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge ★★★★
"I would strongly recommend not to stay at this hotel!!! We did not have hot water in our room and this repeated for the 2 nights that we stayed there. We did not expect high end cuisine and we visited the area to see the mountain gorillas, but the food was tasteless and the fact that they used serving "tricks" didn't make the food better. Unfortunately, they didn't even understand why we were complaining about the food. They are disorganized and mixed up our laundry with other guests' laundry. In summary - this is a very unprofessional hotel that supplies very poor service."

"Honestly the best place to stay in the whole of Kisoro! Ivan makes sure you will get the most out of your experience by taking you to some hidden gems, and will help with everything you need. Besides, the hotel is spacious with both inside and outside areas to sit, warm and comfy, and it has a nice restaurant too."

"I spent two great nights here. The lodge enjoys a great location on the southern part of Bwindi, a very short distance to the UWA visitor's Centre where you register and get a briefing before you embark your Gorilla trekking experience. Isabel and her team were polite and always eager to help. Special mention to my room Steward Gilbert. A calm, dedicated chap. The rooms at the lodge are quite spacious, i always had a very hot shower (Bwindi can become very cold because of high altitude and the rainforest) and they always provided a hot water bottle at night. The food was nice but become cold so quickly, probably because of the weather."

"From the moment my husband and I arrived to the Bwindi Orugano Lodge, we were completely blown away by how beautiful it was! On top of the beauty, the staff at the the lodge were top notch! We felt completely taken care of the entire time - our room was always clean, the food was OUTSTANDING, and all of our questions were promptly answered. The only thing that I would have changed would be to stay longer."

"My stay at Kaara Mountain Gorilla Lodge was exactly what I needed. The lodge sits with stunning, uninterrupted views of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Waking up to that misty forest and the mountains in the distance is unforgettable. What stood out most was the peace and quiet. The area is incredibly calm, with only the sounds of birds and nature around you. It’s the kind of place that instantly gives you relaxation and peace of mind the moment you arrive. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with hot showers, good beds, and reliable staff service. For the price, the value is excellent — you get a premium experience without overpaying. Perfect for unwinding after gorilla trekking. Highly recommend for couples, solo travelers, and anyone visiting Bwindi. I’ll definitely be back. Stayed: November 2025 Name: Paul"
