"Stayed here for 1 night, was booked for me. I believe the hotel is being done up at the moment as no evening meal was available and it wasn’t possible to get anything other than a sandwich from the nearby Morrisons as the chip shop was closed. Owner is very friendly and a pleasure to chat with and even sat out breakfast for us in the morning. Room was very warm and due to shutters I couldn’t allow any cool air in the room without keeping the shutters open, bin in room hadn’t been emptied and the carpet is a tad threadbare and needing replaced. Parking available on site and EV charging just along the street (you may find non EV’s using the spaces though) The hotel has a nice feel, just a shame it was let down by a few simple things."

"We knew of the Royal Hotel from having lived in the area 30 years ago but had never been beyond the bar before. We chose the Royal to celebrate the New year with family members who had travelled from New Zealand to be with us. We could not have chosen better! The staff were amazing, anticipating all our requirements. The rooms were comfortable and the food excellent. The Gala Dinner on Hogmanay was very special. A truly memorable New Year which was enjoyed by all three generations. Thank you."

"It was our 4th visit to this wonderful restaurant with rooms and again we weren't dissapointed! Andrew and his team looked after us spectactularly. The room felt homely, and was clean and spacious. The food was amazing, cleverly put together with taste and presentation foremost. What makes our stay here so special is the whole package, the rooms are great, the food fabulous and the staff amazing! We have already booked back in again - can't wait to visit you all again."
