"The breakfast coffee was excellent. The view from the room is very nice; however, the breakfast food was all cold: eggs, sausages, ham; also, the receptionist was very sick and wasn't wearing a mask, there were about four staff members and no one helped with luggage or provided any services; they couldn't even provide the necessary or complete information, and to top it all off, the hotel supposedly offers parking, but when we went, they sent us to an external garage where guests have to pay $5 per night."

Casa Montalvo Bed & Breakfast

"This bed and breakfast was better than imagined. The rooms were clean, the showers had plenty of hot water and pressure (not always the norm in South America). The included breakfast was exceptional. A fruit plate, coffee, breads, fresh prepared juice, a different Ecuadorean breakfast, and eggs to order if desired. Also, the staff was welcoming, helpful and bilingual. The location was quiet yet within 2-4 blocks from parks, shopping, restaurants. If you’re ever in Cuenca I cannot recommend a better location to stay."

Hotel Casa San Rafael

"Overall enjoyable stay. Close to the airport and downtown, staff friendly, rooms clean, included breakfast enjoyable. The only issue is that it can be quite loud - the windows/walls don't have much in the way of insulation, so bring ear plugs. I stayed at Apartamentos Otorongo at the end of my trip and that was a much better experience. While they weren't as close as Casa San Rafael, they were SOOOO quite and about the same price point."
