This is an honest review that is not meant to dissuade anyone but to offer a thorough unbiased review. My opinion of New World before my stay was that it was a 5 star hotel, it certainly wasn't horrible, but after my stay and comparing to other Dalian hotels in its league that I've stayed in, think it doesn't fit the bill for a 5 star hotel. I can't complain about the service, Check in was swift and we got a free room upgrade and spa coupons, but the hotel room carpet was stained, there was dust in some places and the furniture and room amenities are aging, slightly dated and need to be improved (I didn't feel the need to zoom in on those issues so the pictures wont reflect this) . I loved that there were lovely art pieces throughtout the hotel and the fitness centre was top notch especially the heated pool. The breakfast buffet had fewer options than expected for a hotel of that standard but it was honestly delicious and satisfactory, they had both Chinese and Western dishes, fruit and cereal. The waitresses from Guo restaurant had the best service they went out of their way to make our dinner pleasant. The most disconcerting issue I had with New World was that the room deposit refund took longer than I've ever experienced, I found it highly unusual and somewhat disappointing because I've stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels and usually the refund is instant but they told us it would take up to 3 days. Maybe this is standard practice for them but it made no sense to me and I've never had to wait that long. In any case surely it doesn't take 3 days to check a room!

Is a nice hotel, with a bunch of available services. Was a pity they don't have a biguer room or family rooms available , so we get a tween room, that was fine also. Restaurant is good, breakfast have a good varaiaty of food . Location is great, not far for many interesting places in the city.

The staff at the front desk were really kind and English was also comfortable. The room was spacious enough and comfortable, especially with a bidet in the bathroom. I can safely say Intercontinental is one of the best hotels in Dalian after having stayed in many Dalian hotels. For starters we got a room upgrade and early check in and late check out. The hotel also gave us complimentary coffee and fruit soon after checking in. The room was clean, comfortable, modern and had a gorgeous city view. The amenities were satisfactory and their Breakfast buffet had a wide range of Western and Chinese cuisine to choose from. Special thanks to Jason from the fitness centre and Winnie and Kevin from the front desk for their excellent service they especially made sure our stay was enjoyable. The only downside is that I think the Chinese restaurant staff could use some training the service there was the least professional but in my opinion it didn't takeaway from the overall experience.

Most of the nearby bus and subway attractions are covered. The hotel facilities are perfect. The room is clean and tidy without any peculiar smell. I am very satisfied. Focus on the service. Because I am relatively weak, the rain switch can't be turned, so I asked the front desk attendant for help to turn it off. The next day the hotel staff called me and said I was sorry for my poor experience, so I was upgraded to a deluxe room for free. To be honest, there is nothing wrong with the standard room, it’s just that I can’t turn the rain switch with weak hands, but the hotel upgraded the room for me so that I also felt valued and thoughtful service. After talking about things in the afternoon, I don’t feel like going out in the evening, so I plan to settle it in the hotel. It’s so convenient to live upstairs and eat downstairs. There is a restaurant downstairs with various private rooms and private tables. We eat in the private room on the 4th floor of Building A. There is no minimum spend yet. The food is pretty good, costing around RMB 80 per person, which subverts my previous perception that eating in hotels is expensive. I highly recommend trying it. After dinner, we went for a walk in Mingze Lake Park behind the hotel, which was very pleasant. The hotel facilities are relatively complete, and there are charging stations. We Visited Dalian during our Summer vacation & we loved it. The place is a little hidden so it took us a little while to find it. When we arrived the receptionist was welcoming and spoke English which made checking in easy. The Room was tidy and everything was Smooth we will definitely come back when we visit Dalian. Thank You to the ladies at the Reception their service was by far better than the service we just experienced at a 5 star hotel.
