Blervie House

"I stayed at Blervie house for the weekend as part of a family celebration. I had been looking forward to it, There was a couple of things you got served your coffee in a mug which was ok but they didnt have pot ont he table you had to keep asking for top ups but the breakfast was lovely. We had 2 meals there the Fri was a BBQ, which for the price that we paidm was not aceptable and what was on offer was very limited and you only got 1 burger, a few pits of Chicken/Sausages but plenty of Salad and the poatoes were lovely. On the sunday we had mackle pate followed by lemon sole which was an odd companiton followe by lemon roulad. The pata was lovely and the Veg on the main course was lovely but i couldnt say much for the main course and tehe desert well was basic nothing to it. After dinner we had cake and the mugs of coffee appeared. it was a bit of a come down after silver cutlery been used and bone china side plates and the mugs appeared. We ordered on the Sunday night, tenders for my nephew. the main course came out and he was present with Lemon sole for a 7 year old. We told the staff that it was to be chicken and chips evenutaly my borther in law after nearly 40 minutes wait went to find out what was going on with his food only to be told that he was not getitng anythign other than fish, we were also adviced that the hotel do not welcome children under the age of 12. The owner,Graham only spoke to us on one day at breakfast and he didnt come back again to see how we were enjoying our stay etc. I must say that it is a lovely location, a lovely propery and the grounds are well kept. HTe beds are very comfy but if you have an alegery to feathers best to take your own with you (i always travel with my own) The bathrooms are lovely and clean and the toiletries are an added bonus and with some nice biews not kust from the bedroom but fromt eh bath room too. My room was at teh top and the best view was fromt eh bathroom. The 2 girls who served us for all the meals were lovely and very chatty but you must watch what you say as things are not private, as they say the walls have ears!!! And in this case the walls did have have ears. The 2 meals that we had were not worth the money that we paid. Th "

Ramnee Hotel

"We had a few days at this hotel recently when visiting the area. It’s a lovely country house style in the middle of Forres. The hotel has the feel and atmosphere of a country house hotel. We were given a very warm welcome e from the manager/owner. Our superior double was large with a seating area. The en-suite appeared to have been updated quite recently which was good. The room itself did give the feel of a hotel stuck in the 1980’s and the decor and furniture was a bit dated and tired and could do with a freshen up. There was a good array of offerings for breakfast including the full cooked Scottish breakfast including haggis. We didn’t eat dinner in the dining room but did have a drink and the bar area was quite comfortable to sit and relax. The WiFi worked well. We had stayed here many years ago and we would certainly have no worries about future visits to the Ramnee."

The Old Mill Inn

"Has to be the worst restaurant meal in a 25 mile radius from Forres... there are about 30 items on them Menu between the regular menu and the specials, but they couldn’t do any of them well.. ( why not focus On a few items and do them well?) We waited 2 hours for our mains when we eventually got served they were mediocre. Service was appalling and amateurish . Has to be the worst restaurant in Forres. And staff did not care."

Macbeth's Hillock

"The little cabin had everything I needed for me and my 2 children and we were made to feel very welcome. There was washing up liquid and toilet roll, an unexpected tv with plenty of stations to occupy the kids in the early mornings, hot shower, great heater, toaster, kettle, fridge and hob .All so clean. Beds comfy. Little shop for anything needed, football and net and some small toys in shop area. Easy access to beaches/shops/attractions/airport and train station. Friendly hosts came to say hello as we left to check everything had been ok. Would definitely recommend a little holiday here, warm enough to stay in winter too. Enough room for 4. The kids loved their own little “gingerbread house” . "
