Hotel Gafsa Palace ★★★

📍 CRMC+J86, Gafsa Nord

"A shame, a scam, a scandal!!! How can the Tunisian National Tourist Office still leave such an establishment open and above all not control it??? This hotel, which has 5 stars, is shabby, total lack of heating in the common areas, dark, sad and employees just showing their presence. NOTHING is respected: - at the bar two signs indicate a ban on smoking... you enter and are immediately asphyxiated by dozens of smokers - my room offered me a television without a socket with two bare wires on the floor without dominoes Bathroom the walls and cupboards were decrepit My room was terribly dirty, no floor mat in the bathroom, no disposal of body products after use, toilet paper completely destroyed and dirty on a dispenser itself rust. Conflicting PDJ schedules between the receptionist, the display and the room manager. Minimalist offer, I will spare you the details I would not have enough authorized characters... This hotel is a shame for Tunisia and the Tunisian ministry in charge of this sector has not set foot there since November 2006 (true displayed in the lobby) TOURISTS, TUNISIANS, RUN THIS STUFF and make sure to knock down at least 4 of the 5 stars planted on the roof."

Riad Dar El Caid Palais Siecle XIV ★★★

📍 Rue Bizerte 1, Tozeur

"The service is excellent, attentive and helpful. The Riad could shine with a few minor repairs to some neglected areas, as it is very beautiful. The sheets smelled musty, the light fixture was hanging loose on the wall, and there were some areas that weren't clean or shiny. It's a shame because it's very beautiful, and I missed being enveloped by the scent of perfumes from this wonderful country."

Dar Saida Beya ★★★

📍 Rue Ahmed Ayech, Tozeur

"I highly recommend this guesthouse despite a few drawbacks. Here are the points I noted: * Positive points: 1- The style and decor are typical of Tozeur. I find it really very pretty and authentic. 2- The staff are incredibly friendly and kind. They don't hesitate to guide and help you. A big thank you! 3- The location: close to all amenities and well situated in relation to the key places to visit in Tozeur! A total immersion. * Negative points: 1- The breakfast really needs improvement! The pastries are hard, like stones, there isn't much choice in what's offered, and it lacks some traditional elements. 2- The kettles need maintenance: limescale buildup and filters need cleaning. 3- The mosquitoes :("

The Mora Sahara Tozeur ★★★★★

📍 Mrah lahwar, Tozeur

"**Stunning villa, but operations need serious work — Mora Sahar Tozeur** The pool villa is genuinely one of the best rooms I have stayed in across properties including the Shangri-La, Four Seasons, and Kempinski. Hans Grohe fittings, freestanding bath, premium bedding and a private terrace make it outstanding. Mekong restaurant, the spa, the quad tour, and the Berber night were all enjoyable highlights worth mentioning. That said, the operational experience fell well short of a 5-star standard in several areas. Arrival was a poor start, the driver arrived 40 minutes late despite multiple advance confirmations, with an explanation of "traffic" in a desert town. There was also a food safety concern at the Berber night where the chicken was clearly undercooked, which at this level is simply not acceptable. The beef at the Sarab buffet was equally disappointing. Service throughout was highly inconsistent. Orders were mixed up, substituted without explanation, or never arrived at all, and room service was late and incorrect on multiple occasions. The root cause appears to be a language gap, menus are in English but many staff cannot communicate in it. Mohamed in room service was a genuine standout and showed exactly what the team standard should look like. Housekeeping was unreliable, with water, towels, and turndown inconsistent day to day. The in-room app was never introduced at check-in, and when we did use it, messages went unanswered, meaning there was no reliable way to request anything during the stay. Several things we ended up enjoying were only discovered by chance or by asking directly, and a simple welcome briefing would fix this immediately. The villa product is a genuine strength and worth visiting for, but the operational gaps need addressing before the property can consistently deliver on its 5-star promise."

Hotel Jugurtha Palace ★★★★
"Beautifully done interiors with extremely rude not customer oriented dining room manager. His behavior towards older disabled gentleman needs to be punished- he spoken to older gentleman with aggressive tone & all fuss was about bringing to the table own bottle of water . He grabbed the bottle from the table & placed it under the table trying to prove the point that he is in charge- extremely uncomfortable situation- we were speechless. On top off that food was very average- probably plated up in advance- meant dry like shoe soulless- overcooked veg with no taste- for a deser they serve us chocolate mousse usually used to fill profiteroles in tiny paper pot - very disappointing after long journey from the desert . Highly not recommend"

Hotel Gafsa Palace ★★★
"The hotel was like a ghost town. The entrance lobby is very beautiful but came across a little creepy as it was darkly lit and no one was there. Room was very unclean, dust everywhere and the bath needed a good scrub. Beds were way too hard (and I am normally ok with firmer mattresses.) Staff were lazy and we noticed them charge us more than double the amount of tax for our rooms because we were tourists. They charged other Tunisians a lot less. There was no water in the pool but we were aware they may not be as it was out of season. We tried to find the indoor pool as the brochure said there was one but there wasn’t one to be found. Breakfast was of a really poor standard, not much selection at all and not even any fresh juice to drink. There aren’t any amenities nearby the hotel."

Riad Dar El Caid Palais Siecle XIV ★★★
"The hotel is truly elegantly furnished, and the rooms (though smaller and less luxurious than they appear in the photos) are very quaint. You'll need to leave your car on the street, and to reach it, you'll need to walk about a hundred meters into the medina. The entrance is a black door with a very small sign under a portico, making it a bit difficult to find. I recommend calling ahead to be met at your arrival time."

"My family and I stayed two nights at this lovely Dar. The room and bathroom were very small but clean and tidy. The breakfast was absolutely mediocre. Unfortunately, the morning after our arrival, my son left the charger for his new iPhone plugged in. When we returned from our excursions, it was gone. We politely reported the incident, but the response was: "It's not possible." Too bad the charger doesn't have legs, and we were absolutely certain we'd left it on the desk in the room. Bottom line: my son had no charger, and they didn't even offer any explanation. Someone must have broken into our room and stolen it. I definitely wouldn't return to this Dar."

"I am deeply disappointment with the treatment my family and I received at this resort. This has been, without exaggeration, the worst experience I have ever had at any establishment in Tunisia. On two consecutive days, my family and I visited your resort with the simple intention of enjoying breakfast together. Instead, we were met with disrespect and outright refusal of service. The front desk manager, who I believe is named Rehab, and the kitchen manager or chef, Imad, were particularly unwelcoming and dismissive. Their behavior made us feel unwelcome and humiliated in front of other guests. The only reason we came back the next day is because the security guard, I believe his name was Acharef , convinced us to give them another chance. As someone who was born in this town and has spent most of my life in the United States, I had been looking forward to visiting your resort since its construction began. It is extremely disappointing that, instead of hospitality, we were treated as though we didn’t belong. No guest should ever experience such discrimination or disrespect, regardless of their background or appearance. I hope this complaint prompts you to investigate this matter seriously and ensure that no other visitors are treated this way again."

"The room is quite big, but the room facilities are a bit old. The sanitary environment is good. There are many kinds of breakfast. I stayed in the hotel for four days in a row. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are mostly different, which is very suitable for Chinese tastes. The swimming pool is great and the front desk service is also good. Very thoughtful and very cost-effective."
