"Homestay-style hotel - quite basic - a small bar of soap for three days for two people…. Super thin bedding for cold nights…. food was decent although the choice was rather limited… we found the hosts rather distant, bordering on unpleasant… we didn't feel welcome!"

"Clouds bungalow is literally up in the clouds - depending on the weather/time of day, you could see/feel the clouds engulf you. No outside noise except the chirping birds. The surrounding garden is an oasis with water features, outdoor seats, greenery & blooming flowers. The bungalow is well maintained, very clean, equipped with a pantry for guest's use. The guest rooms were cleaned daily. During our 3 night stay, we enjoyed the home cooked delicious & wholesome food made by the chef. The staff: Manager, Mr. Karu, Maduranga, Ramesh & Chef, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable."

"I agree with pretty much all the reviews here, but feel like some of the negatives are due to unrealistic expectations of small town rural SL. Overall my experience was excellent despite terrible weather - rainy and foggy. I came to stay 2 days but ended staying 3 as I knew weather would only be the same in Ella (my next stop). Rooms are a good size with very comfortable beds with clean linen and warm blankets (necessary when I was here). Lishan (the real owner, not Ali who found me at the station and claimed it was part of his family business) provided regular pots of tea while I chilled in the breakfast room and sitting room, read, and waited for the rain to stop and fog to clear. Views were excellent during clear moments. The bar next door (once part of the hotel) is a total trip "Wild East" saloon. Lots of things a bit grubby, slow, etc but par for the course. Memorable. Definitely worth a go."
