Premier Inn Hereford Holmer ★★★
"So very good…. Like many other people I base my away day/overnight stays on a simple ethos, is it clean, (thoroughly) functional, (extremely) reasonably priced with or without breakie (undeniably) and will the Mrs like it (more than happy)!? This was everything and more…especially having booked the stay for a biggy (60th) birthday stay but not realising I’d booked the Plus option. Which proved a bonus with AC in the room on what later proved to be a really hot weekend and only simple fans were provided for the standard rooms. Good water and fridge with brew making additions in the rooms and top up available at reception Breakfast was sufficient, not great but certainly not bad. Staff were helpful, genuine and respectful. Good available parking Quieter than expected being as close to the Hereford main drag into town Convenient distance for a takeaway collected or deliverable if required Hereford is a lovely place and we have plans to return and adventure out V good job by a top-team It’s a bit of a mess where the associated Brewers Fayre restaurant once was, needs a tidy up. The premiere Inn provides a good nights sleep, comfy beds clean tidy rooms… the breakfast needs improving in as much as the quality. The experience was sufficient with its edible temperature, nutritional content, the overall look but it just didn’t taste great for the start of what should be for customer a good day - again not slating the meal but on review it stretched to being ‘sufficient’ is all. Allow local or county butcher/farm shop or similar to provision, at a good contractor price, facilitating money, jobs and attention staying regional, just a thought."

"Great service, friendly and helpful staff, the room was clean and well kept. The bed was rather old and creaky, but otherwise comfortable. Always enjoy staying at hotels and inns with a lot of history, this is certainly one of them!"

Hopbine House ★★★
"My wife booked the 3 night stay in this B&B but I had not read the Tripadvisor reports. However, the large house is located on a main road approx 10 min drive to the centre of Hereford. There is a large car parking area to the rear and access is via a key pad in the reception area and your room key is in a box in reception. I believe most rooms are in the single level extension at the rear of the house and corridors lead to the rooms. Our room No 4 which is the one in the main picture has a large 4 poster bed and there is a single dark wood "Sleigh" bed for kids or adult. The room is heated by a plug in heater and the ensuite has a bath and shower. The ceilings have beams which might be a problem for those of 6 foot and those with walking difficulties may find it a problem navigating the corridors and entry to the rooms as well as moving around especially the step in the bathroom. There are wooden patio doors to the rear which open on to a gravel area and table with 3 chairs looking over to large trees and a large green area, actually quite nice on a warm evening and great for those that smoke.. Coffee and tea making facility in the room and you get a bag per person for breakfast with yogurt, fruit, chocolate biscuit. It was very quiet no road noise and overall it was a bargain 3 night stay. Ok it was a bargain but as detailed above there are some issues re keypad reception entry which will not suit some people. I did have issues with the room patio doors where only one bolt worked properly and the doors could easily have been forced opened with a chisel etc. The gravel area could have been better thought out with a small flagged area outside each room. Overall, it was a bargain stay but it has its faults and noise from other rooms can be a problem. However, we have stayed in 5 & 6 star hotels in our business life and during our retirement so it would be easy to give this place a low rating but if you don't leave any valuables in the room no problem. My wife says they made the bed every day and changed the linen which is good. Overall its clean and decent size. Finally just remember that those of a larger size both height and waist and those with walking difficulties may be advised to find another place. Would I stay again? probably not because of the patio door issue which the owner needs to address but everything else was good for the price."
