"I am a big believer in you get what you pay for. If I could give stars for staff then Angela who runs the bar/cafe would get five 🌟 she is such a credit to the place and a lovely lady. She was so friendly and easy to talk to and her dinks/food was spot on! The bar area was exceptional clean also. Maria was also nice and helpful. The apartment we had was very spacious and adequately clean, ground floor so spacious terrace too. The bathroom was a big let down and needs a thorough make over as does the kitchenette area! With a little love and tlc these apartments could be so much better. The pool area was ok although the pools were very cold. The location is superb. Just to the right of the the apartments is the Street Bar and I would highly recommend this place. The food everywhere was delicious. If it’s beauty and luxury you want then please avoid booking but if you can close your eyes to a few things and want somewhere cheap to stay then this is the place. All in all we had a good weeks holiday and will definitely return to Malia (but will choose a different hotel/apartment to stay in.). We could list things that need immediate improvement but are not going to, like I said it was a cheap break, and you get what you pay for!"

"We cannot understand the bad reviews here. Anyone who expects a 5 star hotel for these cheap prices should question themselves. Of course this hotel is not up to date, but you have 2 rooms and either a terrace or 2 cute balconies. In general the furnishings are rather older, old Greek style... For us it had a lot of flair and we would definitely come back. The welcome and care was very warm. Lila, one of the dogs, kept coming by to say hello, which we as animal lovers were very happy about. Since this hotel is on a hill with a view of the sea (from all balconies), there are a few steps. Anyone expecting an elevator should probably book a holiday in the Maldives or something similar. Our rooms were clean. We were always helped with questions. We were even given toothpaste that we ran out of for the last 2 days... We have nothing to complain about."

"A great place to stay! The Suites only opened this year so it’s very new, with everything all clean and tidy. My husband and I have stayed in the pool suite room which gives you direct access to the pool area. The rooms are fully equipped with a kitchen and dining area, so you can eat in if that’s what you decided to do. Breakfast is included but this is delivered to your room every morning as there isn’t a restaurant area where you can go and sit. The food is very good and you get 3x options each plus a drink option. I’ll attach a photo of the menu. The rooms are cleaned every couple of days and you are provided with clean towels. The room also includes a hair dryer and iron which is super convenient! The suites are located right near to the main strip and beach so it’s within walking distance of everything! With a supermarket on the corner. Maria and Nikolas have been exceptional and can’t do enough for you. So very friendly! Maria is on hand 24/7 through what’s app so if you do need anything, she will answer straight away. We would stay here again! Thank you again for a great experience."

The food was excellent, with a great variety and high quality throughout my stay. I always found something delicious and enjoyed every meal. One of the highlights was the relaxing atmosphere. I came here looking for rest and recovery and found exactly that. The combination of the stunning location, the sea, the friendly service, and the overall comfort made this a truly memorable holiday. A special mention also goes to the AEGEO Spas team Xenia snd Auguste. The massage treatment I received was one of the highlights of my stay and left me feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. "I stayed here with my family last year in August, and I could not have rated higher. Booked again for August this year. So disappointing. Food was served on the beautiful outdoor terrace in 2024. This year, we have to walk to a sister hotel for a school dinner experience with miserable staff. Totally changed the dynamic of the holiday and not what I signed up for when booking with Jet2. The chill rooftop pool was closed off too, so directed to the overcrowded ugly sister hotel. In summary, when I book a holiday, I book it for a specific hotel, not a cheap and nasty alternative."

"The hotel is ok but it is not 4 star I would say it possible 3 star it might have been 4 star when opened but definitely not now food is good always something to eat. If staying there have strong legs as it's up hill everywhere and the lift goes up one floor in lobby, rooms can be up to four levels higher anyone with problems with stairs not advised to go, the village is in the middle between Hersonissos and stalis 30 to 40 minutes walk either way . The hotel is all inclusive but they have a lot to learn about all inclusive it's not done well small plastic cups for drinks and slow service so expect to queue for drinks, beer wine and spirits are local and poor quality. The staff are nice very friendly and helpfull. One other thing there not enough sunbeds for the amount people there and if you want one get up very early to put towels on beds. Overall it's an ok hotel I had a pleasant stay i didn't stay in the hotel evening's as there is nothing to do most people played cards and no entertainment except for one night a week they had a dance group on but was poor show I left after 5 minutes."

"Great location but that is about all. Our room was like a prison cell, shower area was disgusting! And you would be very lucky if you had a hot shower in the morning also you could only use shower as hand held as no bracket! Stayed 11 days and only had 2 hot showers in all that time! Did complain but was told that because it was cloudy the day before the water tanks hadn't warmed the water HUH!! What an excuse. No wifi unless you sit by the pool Go cheap you certainly get what you pay for"

"Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. The hotel only met the absolute minimum standards, and I certainly wouldn’t choose to stay here again. The biggest issue was the manager, who was extremely disrespectful during every interaction we had. On our first arrival, while discussing our room allocation, we were shockingly referred to as “stupid UK people.” This was completely unacceptable, unprofessional, and made us feel unwelcome from the start. The only positive aspect of our stay was the cleaning staff. They were polite, friendly, and did a good job keeping the rooms clean, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the beds were also very uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Overall, between the rude management, uncomfortable beds, and poor customer service, this was a bad experience. The hardworking cleaning staff deserve credit, but they couldn’t make up for the way we were treated by management."

"We stayed at the hotel for seven nights on an all-inclusive package, and from the moment we arrived until the day we left, we had an absolutely wonderful experience. One of the things we loved most was the choice of five different restaurants. Booking through the app was quick and effortless. The food was absolutely delicious, and every evening felt like dining in a high-end restaurant. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly. We especially appreciated being greeted with warm smiles wherever we went. I celebrated my birthday during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond to make my birthday dinner truly magical. They also surprised us with a birthday cake and a bottle of champagne delivered to our room, which was a lovely and thoughtful gesture. On several occasions, we also found pleasant surprises waiting for us in our room, such as wine or a fresh fruit platter. We would especially like to thank the wonderful lady working at the cocktail bar. She made the most amazing cocktails, and her friendly service made every visit a pleasure. The hotel was completely renovated in 2024, and it is now modern, stylish, and beautifully designed. We especially loved the furniture and overall atmosphere. A special thank you also goes to the housekeeping team for keeping our room spotless every single day. This is truly one of the best five-star hotels we have ever stayed at. We sincerely hope to return one day."

"Pleased with the experience here at the The Sarpidon. I found it to be very clean, friendly and as a solo traveller( 3rd time in Crete) , the clientele is made up of plenty of frequent visitors who were wonderful to meet and chat too. The lovely Anne and Peter, Jane and Michelle and the hilarious Marie from Ireland - in promise I will return the glass 😇. The rapport the staff have with visitors is priceless. You could have paid 10 times the cost and still not received the attention and friendliness that I feel I had received here . Apologies to Dora who had to chase me down the street because I forgot to pay for my last snack - 100 m sprint better than an Olympic event. So sorry Dora 🙏. Won’t happen again 🫣. Situated right in the centre of Old Malia, close to a very convenient travel route that can take you from one end of the island to the other, with buses coming every 20 minutes. Take a walk out of the west exit of hotel and you find yourself in a delightful and quaint Old Village of Malia , rich in historic buildings, some converted into stunning restaurants and picture postcard beautiful streets. Sarpido also offers delicious meals and drinks reasonably priced and plenty on offer . The beach is in walking distance about 400 m or so but the beach on Malia is squeezed with so many sunbeds you’re near on top of each other - preferred the lovely cove at Hersonnisos 24 or around the pool the days I wasn’t off exploring. Sarpidon is ideally situated, surrounded by a stunning backdrop of mountains yet has everything you need for a memorable, relaxing holiday . Highly recommend. Keep Euros and change . Much preferred than card ."

"Me and my partner booked a swim up for 1 week and we loved the hotel. The hotel is probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing establishments that we have stayed. We went for a swim up room and was not disappointed. The room was a perfect size for a couple with coffee, tea facilities and a mini bar that is replenished daily for this room type. The rooms and hotel in general is spotless and I would like to shoutout Monica from housekeeping, she couldn’t do enough for us! Our only slight issue was the food / drink. The breakfast and lunch time options are great, I love the 3 options at lunch of the two ale cartes or Buffet, we particularly loved the pool ble bar. Dinner however was focused heavily on sea food, of which me and my Partner do not eat. We spoke to other non sea food eaters who also said they struggled. The biggest issue for me though was the lack of accessibility to drinking water. One bottle was placed in the mini fridge everyday, however, the only way to get water all inclusive through the day was to ask for cups of water at the bar. Bottled water is not included, there is also no existing hydration stations / fountains throughout the hotel as far as I’m aware. The water provided at the bar was often served in plastic cups that looked like they had hardly been cleaned, often with black dirt swimming in them. I don’t think I got served a clean cup of water once. I had heard that you could go to reception and request bottles of water but when I did, I was told to use room service, so pay €8 to get a bottle of water? The local alcohol brands are also overpowering and quite poor."
