📍 505 Rte du Signal, Huez

"Lovely place in a great location, with very friendly and welcoming staff. I thought it was very reasonably priced for the quality of accommodation. It has a warm and traditional chalet feel and was spotlessly clean at all times. We were a group of three, 1 adult, 2 teenage boys (16 and 18) and stayed in a triple room (room 21). The room was nicely decorated, the 3 single beds were comfortable, the bathroom was a decent size, the shower was powerful and always hot. Our room didn't have a balcony, as not every room does, but this didn't bother us particularly. It was a South-facing room, and the view was superb. Breakfast - continental with high quality breads, pastries, cheeses, meats, eggs, cereal, quiche and tarts. Perfect. Wifi - free, not quite up to streaming, but fine for everything else. Ski and boot storage - plenty room in the ski room accessed from outside. Boot room with dryers/warmers accessible from reception. Nearby - 3 ski rental shops within a few meters of the hotel, loads of restaurants and bars within a very short walk. Ski access - bucket lift across the road which takes you to the bottom of the pistes. You can ski back to the hotel, but it's pretty flat so not much good on a snowboard! Criticisms - nothing of note. The room was too hot on the first night, even with the radiator switched off. Open the window in the evening and it's fine, as long as there is no-one singing on the street in the early hours! If I return to Alpe d'Huez, I'll probably go back to this hotel."

"This hotel is great, everything was smooth. There is a ski rental shop right under the hotel, and the. hotel has lockers to keep your skis and boots. There is ski access to a chairlift, so you can ski directly to a charlift from the hotel's door! The food at the restaurant of the hotel Chez Jules was delicious and their breakfast buffet was great. The sauna and the steam room was great to relax after a long day of ski. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great too, you can easily walk everywhere, it is close to great restaurants. The hotel has a lot of sunlight and a great view. We loved our balcony in the room too. Highly recommend staying here! It was the perfect ski trip. "

Hôtel Eliova le Chaix

Hôtel Eliova le Chaix

📍 112 Rue du Pic Bayle, Huez
★★★ 7.7 (15 reviews)

"Beware - a very very basic hotel, the beds are extremely small (2'6" wide) The Room and bathroom are generally Ok, but the heating, the hotel have a broken heating system and the manager has no idea how to turn it off, we were just told to keep the door open if we wanted the room to be cooler.! Dinner was average - small portions but the Raclette or Fondue was OK (an upgrade option)"

Hotel et Spa l'Eclose by Odalys ★★★
"I don't often write reviews unless I feel it deserves it. Due to the reviews on here about this apart hotel I was fairly nervous about what we were going to find. Thankfully my fears were quickly settled from the minute we walked in the door. I have to say that our stay here was very good!! and in my opinion does not deserve the reviews it has. We had a very warm welcome on arrival, we arrived at 4pm and were told our apartment wasn't quite ready till 5pm, we were prepared for this as it pretty clear on their website that we can check in after 5pm. Staff at the reception were very helpful from the minute we arrived till we left, absolutely no issues here. Our accommodation was modern, spacious and very clean. we had a 2 bedroom (1 double room with ensuite and a twin room, bathroom and separate toilet.) perfect for 2 adults and 3 boys. beds we comfy and plenty cupboard space for clothes. Locker rooms were the only slight downside, whilst the lockers were spacious enough, if I am being very picky it would be good to have heated lockers to dry off boots particularly in spring with all the melted snow. but I am being really picky!! Location is ok, again I am being pretty picky here, there is an uphill walk of around 300m from the lockers to the Alp express which takes you to the ski lifts, in ski boots this is pretty frustrating as my youngest found out, but it wouldn't stop me booking here again! Swimming pool was very nice, there are a number of reviews saying it was cold, whilst we were there it was really nice temp, (yes not bath temp) but not cold at all! very pleasant after a day on the slopes. Facilities here were always very clean when we used them. (We didn't use the spa facilities) We booked each morning for breakfast, whilst this is probably an expensive way to do it the breakfast was very nice and there was a lot of variety in which to help your self(buffet style) There are a number of negative reviews stating the cleaning of the apartment before you leave- yes this is frustrating given that you pay to use the hotel, but in the alps this is pretty common place and tbf all we did was wash dishes, sweep/hoover floor (equipment in the appt) clean toilets and showers, maybe 60mins of tidy up was all that was required, its not too much and worth doing to save loosing your deposit. All in I could not find any faults with this accommodation, we were very pleased with our apartment and I would happily book here again without hesitation."

Chalet Hotel Alp'Azur ★★★
"The room was tiny, dark and the bucket lift had a great view straight into the room! Returned home with many bed bug bites. A friend who was in another room also went home with bites. Staff not great and I didn't even attempt the breakfast."

"Hotel, staff and location were execellent and recommended. The only negative was as its late in season the menu was the same limited choices for 5 days so I had the same meal three times. Quality of food was superb but choice poor and not 5 star!"

Le Castillan ★★★
"This is a moderately priced hotel that is conveniently located in L'Alpe d'Huez within about a 6-7 minute walk from two different lifts that can be taken to the base of the mountain. The rooms are basic with a comfortable bed, slightly lumpy pillows, a machine for boiling water with powdered coffee and tea, and basic bathroom amenities (but no refrigerator). There is an excellent hammam in the basement area along with a small gym, sauna, and massage parlor (for an extra price). There are locked ski lockers on the ground floor, a comfortable seating area with abundant natural light, a bar, and restaurant. While we were not thrilled with our two meals at the hotel restaurant (it is possible to have demi pension with breakfast and/or dinner), the couple that runs the hotel are very sweet and helpful. The super location and comfortable environment made this a great place to spend a few days skiing."

Royal Ours Blanc Boutique Hôtel & Spa ★★★★
"Pleasant staff. Clean rooms. Lots of choice at breakfast in the restaurant. The evening meal menu has limited choices, although that said, the food was top quality - there was always a meat option, fish option and a veggie option. There is also a specials board which changes every night. Decent proximity to ski lift <5 min walk down the hill & across the car park. Spa facilities are good but there is a cost to use at peak time. Lovely pool which is free to use. Only drawback was rooms too hot. We turned the heater off and opened the windows at night."

PopAlp ★★★
"Many hotels offer an acceptable but ultimately forgettable experience - PopAlp is not one of them. My daughter and I stayed in a twin room for four nights on a half-board basis, and from start to finish, we loved it. What really made our stay stand out was the fantastic team at PopAlp. Every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. While I don’t like to single anyone out - because they were all great - I have to say Melissa was a particularly thoughtful and attentive host, always ensuring everything was just right for dinner. The room was comfortable, cozy, and well-equipped. The balcony, with its stunning sunset views, was the perfect spot to unwind after a day on the slopes—and indulge in a well-earned treat from the nearby Le Boulanger patisserie. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold options, with plenty of variety and flavors to set us up for the day. In the evenings, the restaurant seemed underused, which was surprising because every meal we had was delicious and served in generous portions. The location was perfect for maximizing ski time. PopAlp has a ski hire shop below it and is right beside the ski pass ticket office and the Telecentre basket lift, which takes you up to the Pic Blanc and Signal lifts. Alternatively, a five-minute walk across the bridge brings you to the Alpe Express lift, providing easy access to the Bergers shopping centre and the Marmottes and Romain chairlifts. PopAlp has a fresh energy and lovely charm that made our trip extra special. We’ll definitely be back!"

Hôtel Eliova le Chaix ★★★
"This hotel really made our skiing trip. The staff were all really friendly and humoured my poor attempts at French. The rooms and other facilities were well above our expectations for the price, particularly compared to another hotel in the same resort that we have stayed at previously. The food is a set menu, which may not suit restricted diets but it was excellent quality and we enjoyed all 3 courses every evening. They also offer an alternative if needed. The best point of all is the location and views of the pistes, particularly when sunbathing on the balcony after a hard day’s skiing."
