Hotel Barbarahof 4 Stars Superior Adults Only "soft" from 10 Years Summercard Included

"This was our second ski holiday in Austria and our first in Alpbach was excellent. We were certainly not disappointed with any aspect of our stay un the Hotel Barbarahof. I had read previous reviews and understand why previous customers rate the hotel so highly. The staff are very friendly and ensure your stay is a pleasant one. Like other guests we were late arrivals, but ushered straight to the restaurant for food. I had the biggest schnitzel I have seen, basically covering the plate. The four main staff in the restaurant were excellent (apologies for not getting their names). The choice at breakfast is excellent and as we were half board the options for dinner are superb. An array of breads and spreads, a soup dish, a selection of salad options then a choice of dishes for a main course. Generally one meat option, a fish dish or a vegetarian dish. This was then followed by a dessert, cheeseboard and chutney's, ice cream and a choice of candy/sweets (for the big kids). The bar area is very relaxing and has a great atmosphere. Also if you need to unwind, the Spa/Pool area is ideal. The location of the Hotel is also ideal for getting to the slopes, as the bus stop is right outside. A big thank you to the Mariacher family and especially there team. We hope to see you again in the future."

"Very well looked after hotel, seems newly refurbed to give a clean/modern feel but retaining all the charm of a family run, Austrian alps hotel. Excellent pool/spa/gym and the bar area and restaurant are spacious and comfortable. Food when we ate on 2 nights was delicious, if staying I would recommending using the restaurant during your stay. Perfect location outside of the Kaprun centre, so great for the Mountain View’s, with around 15/20 minute walk to Kaprun centre or couple mins drive/bus, with restaurants and bars en route. The staff and customer service are faultless. We had a couple of technical issues with heating/water at the start of the stay, which we appreciate can happen at any hotel, the staff couldn’t be more helpful and the issue was fixed quickly. Also after recieving bad news from home during our holiday the staff were so supportive offering ways to make the last evening easier for us before we returned home, the staff were genuinely caring and it was very much appreciated. I would recommend and would definitely book again if revisiting the area. "

"Very nice family run hotel and a nice place to stay. We stayed in a beautiful newly decorated room with a balcony and en-suite bathroom. It was very comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast in the morning served by the very kind and understanding Petra (family member). It isn't a clasic hotel with a bar lunge etc, but you can dine in the restaurant in the evening and otherwise there are many bars and eating places nearby. It is a quiet location,but in the centre of Kaprun and very close to the ski-lifts and the apres-ski bar :). Well recommended. Danke sehr, Petra Very nice family run hotel and a nice place to stay. "Very frendly and service oriented staff but the apartment was totally overpriced for its value. Not clean dishes, not enough cooking utilies and no dining table for family. To charge EUR 1270 for three nights was a robbery. I would not go here again for this price. In the end it would be my own mistake to book it remotely based on nice pictures."

Vaya Kaprun

"We stayed in a 2 bedroom superior Type 1 apartment with 4 adults and a baby. Very impressed and would highly recommend. We stayed in apartment 8 on the 2nd floor at the front of the hotel. With the windows and doors shut, you can’t hear the road, but with the windows open you get the odd noisy neighbour walking past late at night. One bedroom had an en-suite with a shower and the other had a bathroom off the hall with a bath and shower. Each bedroom had their own balcony as well as a balcony off the living area. All rooms had a lovely view of the mountains. We didn’t use the sofa bed, so can’t comment on that. VAYA provided a cot for the baby, although it was not suitable for such a young baby and we ended up using the bassinet from the pushchair we bought with us. The whole apartment was really well renovated and was lovely and clean (possibly except a bit of dust under the sofa, beds etc which possibly doesn’t get cleaned every time). The table had plenty of room for 6 people, with a large sofa and 2 arm chairs. Kitchen was good. No microwave which was not a massive issue, except we’d got microwave steriliser bags for the baby which we couldn’t use. Our group consisted of 2 skiers, 2 non skiers and a 3 month old baby. The skiers were impressed with the ski room - clean, warm and plenty of space. There was no mat or shoe tray inside the apartment for wet shoes, so the floor would get really wet. We asked reception for a spare mat which was provided straight away. This helped but would definitely be feedback for VAYA to provide a tray or mat of some sort to help save their nice flooring and to stop wet socks! There was underfloor heating which was a lovely touch. The location was perfect with a bus stop right outside. It’s a short walk to the local Maiskogel ski area and a short 15/20 minute bus to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier one way or Zell ‘em Zee the other. Really friendly and helpful staff, would definitely stay again!"

"We stayed as a family of five and were very happy here. Our three children had a bed each in the second room so no one had to sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge. There was a lovely spacious living room / kitchenette that made cooking and eating together very enjoyable. The supermarket in town is great with a huge selection and only a 5 minute walk away. The ski locker was fine with plenty of space for multiple families to don boots etc. There is a great sauna that was very welcome after a good days skiing. The bus to the main ski area is an easy 2 minute walk. You can walk to Kaprun centre in ski boots in perhaps 10minutes. The apartment was cleaned and prepared every day. Staff all super friendly and super helpful. There was a balcony on two side of the apartment with lovely views, although on this trip it was more useful as an outside beer chiller. Fab place. Would recommend."
