Zanzibar Bay Resort & Spa ★★★★
"The namaste restaurant was excellent. A great variety of Indian dishes, excellent, friendly service."
Uroa Beachfront 2BR • Balcony • Free Wi-Fi ★★★
"We stayed from March 10, 2026, to March 31, 2026. The apartments were absolutely gorgeous!!! 🥰 Perfect for a relaxing holiday! The sailors brought in fresh fish every day! 100% cleaning! Tides are a must! Private parking, gated community! Landry…"
Dream of Zanzibar Resort & Spa - Premium All Inclusive ★★★★★
"Great and timely service. Friendly staff. Special mention to Innocent (Reception) and Geoffrey (Dinning area) Beautiful private beach 😔 Distance from the airport. Room lacked vanity kit (Toothpaste, toothbrush, shower cap) All in all, great place, worth the time and money. Will come again. Rating - Strong 8.5/10"
Pongwe Bay Resort ★★★★
"The hotel is located on the beach, but the sea is not really suitable for swimming due to the sharp rocks and the often low water level. The swimming pool is beautifully situated with the house surrounding it. Unfortunately, sometimes there were not enough sun loungers, so we simply moved to the beach. The room was spacious and clean with a nice canopy where you could relax for a while. The food was delicious, especially in the jetty restaurant where Johnny made sure that delicious vegetarian and meat dishes were made for us every time. The breakfast where special omelette and fresh fruits were made was delicious. We had a wonderful week at Pongwe Bay."
Treetop by Eight Continents Zanzibar ★★★★★
"The location is a bit far from the city center, but the overall environment and facilities are pretty good."
Pearl Beach Resort by Sansi ★★★
"STAY AWAY! We arrived at the hotel after travelling 12 hours and the shuttle the hotel arranged was not there. This is because the hotel had not arranged the pick up and when we phoned they scrambled to find us a ride. We were also misinformed about whether we needed cash to pay for the taxi by the hotel. We arrived to the hotel and there was no room for us. The manager was conveniently not in and the booking manager was not willing to speak to us. They told us they had the reservation that we paid for but no room. We either had to be shipped off to their (lower quality) sister hotel or get a refund and leave. No meaningful help was provided and they had the ******** to tell us to WhatsApp the booking manager because they didn't want to speak to us on the phone. No explanation was given."
Maharaja Boutique Hotel Zanzibar ★★★★
"This was a last-minute hotel booking. It's over an hour's drive from the port. To be honest, the hotel was rather basic. We found a huge rat in our room, which terrified us. Also, because they sprayed a lot of insecticide every night for deworming, I had headaches and couldn't sleep well for two nights. The hotel room was also very basic; they put us on the first floor, which was very dark and made for a poor experience. The water was even salty. The service was alright, though."
Avo Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"For me, it was the perfect vacation. Pure relaxation! A small, clean, family-run resort right on the beach. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The professional owners look after their guests. Since I was traveling alone, this gave me a sense of security. The food was very good. I'm a vegetarian, and special requests were accommodated without any problems. The fresh juices, hummus, and curry were addictive. If I come back, I'll definitely stay here again."
Andy's Inn Michamvi ★★
"We liked the hotel; the staff was very polite and helped us with every question. The rooms are spacious and have everything we needed. The road to the beach is not very good, and there's a lot of trash, but that's typical of Zanzibar. We had a great time."

Azao Resort & Spa
"Worst experience ever, upon arrival at Azao Resort on the first night, we were placed in an old room that seemed either under renovation or unused. It had a terrible smell, and there were no towels or gowns available. When we raised our concerns, we were assured it would be addressed the next day, but we struggled to get a good night’s sleep, having to run the air conditioning at maximum to mitigate the odor. The following day, we were moved to a better room, but our experience was already marred. The dining experience was just as bad, to make matters worse, the hotel was not prepared for our arrival regarding meals. We arrived just after 9 PM, only to find that dinner service had ended, and there was no food available for us. We were offered leftovers, and I, in particular, only received rice. The hotel did not cater to my vegan diet, and when I requested a simple vegetable dish, I was informed that you hadn’t communicated my dietary needs. I was even told that if I wasn’t happy, I could move to another hotel. As a result, I went without proper nutrition during our stay, which is unacceptable for a holiday. My friend and I booked a full package massage on our last day at the resort, and it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I was completely baffled by what the older lady was doing—she was rubbing my body so quickly, it felt like she was in a rush. At one point, she even laid her body on mine while aggressively rubbing me. It didn’t feel like a massage; it felt more like torture. It was such a waste of money and a really upsetting experience."
Moayana Liora Zanzibar
"Our stay at Moayana Liora was absolutely amazing and exceeded all our expectations. The food was truly exceptional – everything was homemade, fresh, and sourced from local farms, giving every meal a unique and authentic flavor. We greatly appreciated the friendly and attentive staff, as well as the wonderful owners, who genuinely care for their guests and create a warm, family-like atmosphere. The hotel is located in a beautiful, peaceful spot away from the large resorts, perfect for those who don’t want to be typical tourists confined to a resort but want to experience a more authentic vacation. The beach is calm and free from constant souvenir vendors, allowing you to fully relax. We wholeheartedly recommend Moayana Liora to anyone seeking peace, tranquility, and a personal touch."
Karibu Beach Resort
"No smiles or warm welcome upon arrival. Treated more as an inconvenience from the start. Extremely disappointed with this stay. I splurged on an ocean view. Only to have a vendor directly below my balcony on the property providing no privacy whatsoever - and additional noise. There were holes in the mosquito nets, providing little protection. The open shower is on a decline that runs water into the vanity and toilet area. The floors are light in color so you cannot see it until you exit the shower and slip. I used every tail in the room to clean up the water. This was communicated with the staff with no apology, and worse - no offer to provide a different room. There were plenty as this was low season. They were up front about "beach boy" encounters But not to the extent I experienced. I was literally corralled buy so many that I could barely make it back to the hotel. There is zero security control over this on the property. There is construction going on on both sides of this property. BIG hotels going up with constant noise until sundown. I could not get out of this place fast enough. I booked and paid for 3 nights. I stayed only one. There was not one penny of reimbursement for any and convenience at all. They do have a non-refundable policy that is clearly stated in bold. At the very least, they should have offered a room that was equal to what I thought I was paying for. Unsafe. Uncomfortable. Unfriendly. In no way whatsoever, is this a quaint little resort. Management was unavailable. I left a personal letter at the desk ( loud TV noise coming from the check and desk - sounded like someone was playing a video game. I also emailed management. All communication was ignored. I sincerely hope this review helps someone else moving forward."
Karanga Bungalows
"Very beautiful place, very close to the beach. The bungalows are truly comfortable, and the team is very available and attentive and the breakfasts are generous. We had a problem with our reservation and once again, the team was very responsive. The place would benefit from having a basin/swimming pool to cope with the incredibly low tides, but that's just a detail. We recommend this place."
Le Mersenne Zanzibar, Autograph Collection
"Excellent! The room was clean and tidy, the staff were very welcoming, and it's very close to the beach. The sea view room was gorgeous! The only downside was that the Coke was a bit expensive, haha, two bottles for $6.90!"
Tulia Zanzibar Unique Beach Resort
"We stayed here at the end of our honeymoon, after 8 nights at a different hotel and then straight to a safari, we wanted our final 3 nights to be complete relaxation and that is exactly what we got. The hotel grounds & layout is great. There are only 16 rooms which means the hotel is very quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. Sometimes it felt like we were the only guests at the hotel. The food is absolutely excellent. A la carte dining for 3 meals a day as well as snacks on top. My only complaint with the food was that vegetarian options for dinner (for my wife) felt like a bit of an after thought. Dinner was the one meal you didn’t get a choice as it was a set 5 course menu. When my wife would mention to the waiter that she was vegetarian, you could see a bit of a panic and then after reassuring us it was in hand, we would be surprised by a random meal as there wasn’t a vegetarian menu. I must stress again though, the food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were all great and friendly. There wasn’t anything that felt impossible with the staff, they would make absolutely everything happen. A special shoutout to Joseph, he was super friendly and loved a chat. The drinks were also tasty and the menu was huge. The barman would also make any drink we requested off menu too. The room was very modern and clean. Bed was comfy and the mini fridge was filled daily by the cleaners. The cleaners were great and came twice a day which was nice. My complaint with the room is with the mosquito net. It isn’t a 360 degree net as there is a gap between the back wall behind the bed and the net. This doesn’t make sense to me since this leaves opportunity for mosquitoes to bite during the night. The pool area is very nice and clean and feels integrated with the main areas of the hotel. Nothing spectacular but definitely aesthetic. Evening entertainment was always locally themed which was nice and was during dinner which was also a good idea. The spa (each guest gets a free first massage) was great, the masseuse was good at what she does and we both left feeling relaxed. One thing we didn’t know about the hotel was that it had its own farm which is integrated within the grounds. They grow alot of their own spices, fruit and vegetables. They also keep chickens & ducks for eggs and meat. Overall a great stay and we would definitely return in the future."
Toa Hotel & Spa Zanzibar
"It's inconvenient to travel, too far. Nice environment"
Zawadi Hotel, Zanzibar
"The place is amazing and in my opinion almost incomparable on the island. Super quite, super clean, great service, great food, I won’t expect nothing more then this."
Shukran Palace
"I visited Shukran Palace with my family in June (2026) and our stay was an experience! This resort is gorgeous with the most amazing architecture, landscape fit for a royal Palace, fountain by the lobby with the soothing sound of water, cascading pools with multiple outdoor bars and spacious suites with gorgeous furniture. The views of the Indian Ocean are spectacular no matter where you are on the property. With a fully equipped gym on the property or one can schedule a massage, either way you will find yourself relaxed here. Shukran Palace is truely a gem of the Zanzibar! We found employees constantly cleaning various areas and therefore the lounge to the rooms, cleanliness was impressive. The best part of this resort is its amazing staff members. Each and every employee takes it upon themselves to make their guests comfortable and with a warm smile. Lillian at the front desk is a customer service champion. Chef Suneel is gifted with mastering all types of cuisines. We throughly enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner . All dishes he prepared were packed with flavor. Having the privilege of traveling around the world, we found Shukran Palace to be top notch!"
Bahati Sunset Bungalows Michamvi
"A wonderful stay. The rooms are not luxury, but spacious and have everything you need including A/C, a small fridge and really good Shampoo, shower gel and Lotion. Room Service is good, the rooms are very clean. The location is rather quiet and remote. So ideal for people looking for a relaxing time and not the Party people. It is located directly at the White, powedery beach with a bit garden area with a large enough Pool. With just a fee room Bahati is absolutely lovely and the staff is absolutely amazing. The Restaurant is also really good. The Menu is very international, so not focussed on lokal Kitchen - but I tjink many guests prefer what is offered. The pizza is really good. We had the Malaysian Prawn Curry and the Butter Chicken and he chicken burger. Only the Fries could be improved. I loved breakfast. With freshly made mixed Juice and a good Selekction of breakfast options. So if you want some relaxeing days at a great location, I can only recommend Bahati. You get excellent value for Money and can really feel at home here."
Amani Villas Nature Retreat
"Stayed at the Amani villas with the family. Great small boutique hotel, with the most friendliest helpful staff. If you just want to wind down and get away from it all, this is a must. Every day they prepared a freshly cooked breakfast at a time that was suitable to us. Then come the evening dinner was again prepared to our timing and cooked to our specification. Definitely a place I will return to."
Pongwe Beach Hotel
"This beautiful boutique beach front hotel is absolutely amazing and no words could do it justice. Tranquil beautiful gardens with hammocks strung under swaying palms to talcum powder sands and a sea of blue and as warm as a bath. Perhaps the most notable experience of Pongwe are the staff always smiling always polite and eager to help you with anything you may desire. Got to be the best hotel in Zanzibar certainly the best beach and surroundings ❤️❤️❤️"
Menai Bay Beach Bungalows
"3rd class hotel. No water on the beach for about 5 miles Pathetic food which is ridiculously overpriced as there are no other options in a 10 kilometres radius"
F-Zeen Boutique Hotel Zanzibar
"The staff is very friendly and the meals are excellent. Good place for relaxation. I'd recommend it for couples, businesses and friends"
