Hotels near Kurama, Kyoto

We stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style 😍 the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit. We were very pleased with our stay in this guest house.

Located very close to Jakkoin Temple, this is the perfect inn for those who want to experience a rustic atmosphere. The hot springs were also good. However, there are no washrooms or toilets in the rooms, and they are shared. The breakfast and dinner meals were especially delicious, especially the rice. However, it seemed like they were short-staffed, and there were some issues, such as the sake I ordered not being served, or although I asked ”Is the sake ready yet?” and they brought it, there were no extra glasses, and the price of the sake was double-counted when I checked out. (They corrected it when I asked.) The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was peak season, so I think it was within the acceptable range.

Wanting to experience a Japanese hot spring hotel, I chose this homestay, and the result was far beyond my expectations. I recommend everyone to come to this hotel. The owner is a couple who are very enthusiastic. You can use bicycles for free, help with luggage, and carefully introduce how to use the facilities and help choose yukata. The service is great. Environment: I thought it was a public bathroom, but it was very clean. There was fragrance in the air, music was played, and there was the sound of running water. The floor was very clean, and there was not even a hair. In such a hot summer, all the public areas are air-conditioned, which is very cool. The feeling of taking a hot spring bath is quite good. There is a hot spring in a small bath, which is the feeling of a very authentic Japanese hot spring hotel. The towels you need, as well as makeup remover, hair dryer, perm stuff, and shampoo and bath stuff are all available, and they are all good brands. It can be seen that they are very attentive. The most important thing is that the price-performance ratio is extremely suitable. Two dinners for two people, two breakfasts and one night's accommodation only cost more than 700 yuan, which is great. If you stay here, it is recommended to order a dinner, or breakfast at the breakfast shop. The dinner is more Japanese and delicious. In addition, it is about a ten-minute walk from the bus station, which is a good distance.

It's in a great location opposite Kyoto City Hall, right under the subway, and with Honnoji Temple behind. The facilities are new and clean, and the beds are soft and fluffy. The staff are attentive and kind. There is also a large public bath, so it was a very satisfying hotel.

Hotel Okura Kyoto was the most pleasant surprise of our entire trip. First off, you can walk directly into the hotel from the subway. After getting off the subway, you enter a shopping mall, and the walk from the mall to the hotel has a very upscale feel to it. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming; we weren't sure how to get to the lobby for check-in from a shop in the mall, and a staff member from the shop actually escorted us there. Both the lobby and the breakfast area had a very high-end ambiance. We booked a corner king room, which offered direct views of the Kamo River. The mountain scenery was absolutely stunning, and looking out the window felt like gazing at a beautiful painting. The hotel staff, just like in a standard five-star hotel back home, helped us with our luggage, which is quite rare for the five-star hotels we've stayed at a few times in Japan. They also offer a shuttle bus service from Hotel Okura to Kyoto Station. The shuttle drivers were very polite, which was another big plus.

The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, offering a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. We were pleasantly surprised the moment we stepped inside. Compared to our hotel in Osaka, the room was significantly more spacious and beautifully decorated in a traditional Japanese style. There's even an onsen (hot spring bath) downstairs, but we arrived quite late and didn't get a chance to enjoy it this time. I definitely want to stay here again on my next trip – I absolutely loved it! The hotel also provides Pola sunscreen, and complimentary toiletries are available for guests to pick up.
