El Rincon de Abi ★★★★
"The best to be in the village at 4 minutes fishermen village."
Donoma Las Terrenas Resort & Villas, Autograph Collection ★★★★
"The hotel is new, but some things don't quite measure up to a 5-star standard or the expected service. The breakfast has a surprising number of paid options (cappuccino, pain au chocolat) and very limited choices at the buffet. No milk, no cereal, no savory hot dishes, no jams, no yogurts, etc. Extremely disappointing on that front. The rooms are cold, undecorated, and impersonal. For the price paid per night, there were no small amenities in the room or bathroom like cotton swabs, toothbrushes, or small soaps. We found a dead mouse in the family pool, which then closed for over a day because of it. While not the hotel's fault, it suggests it wasn't cleaned that morning after a huge storm the night before. No music by the family pool, and the bar on that side of the hotel was also closed, so no possibility of getting a drink or something to eat. Let's be clear, it's not a dump by any means, but for the most expensive hotel in Las Terrenas, it's very disappointing. We feel like we got ripped off. And thankfully, we hesitated but didn't take the all-inclusive package, which would have added $360 per night and wouldn't have enhanced the service at all. This hotel is beautiful but it's an empty shell."
Costarena Beach Hotel ★★★
"Good location. The reception staff were friendly, but the people working at the beach restaurant were incredibly slow, inattentive, and careless: you had to ask them to serve you or prepare your food because they never had anything ready. Breakfast was included (see photo), but it was very basic and lacked variety. Restaurant prices were expensive, as were the massages (€60/hour). The Wi-Fi didn't reach our room, and the shower drain was clogged. They supposedly fixed it, but it was still clogged. There was also no hot water in the bathroom, so we had to shower with cold water every day. The mosquito nets were torn, so mosquitoes still got in. The hotel is nice, and the rooms are spacious, but so many things went wrong that I left with a bittersweet feeling."
Residencia El Balatà ★★★
"The place is very welcoming and feels clean, but the customer service, the rudeness of the staff and the manager is TERRIBLE."
Prado Suites Las Terrenas ★★★
Puerto Plaza Las Terrenas ★★★
"The room is quite big, and the double bed room is much more comfortable than the twin room. But the hotel is older and the facilities are older. The air conditioner can only cool but not heat. It happened to be very cold during those days, which was very uncomfortable. In addition, the hotel can store it for a long time, which is very convenient, so I stay there all the time."
Hotel Alisei ★★★
Viva V Samana by Wyndham, A Trademark Adults All Inclusive ★★★★
"The waiter was very polite"
Punta Popy Boutique Hotel ★★★
"Lovely privately run small boutique hotel in beautiful, well kept grounds. 10 minute easy walk to the beach and local restaurants/bars in Las Terrenas. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Small pool with sun beds to soak up the sun. Only five villas, so quite private. We stayed in the only detached one which was fairly large, very clean with large bed and shower, including toiletries. Complimentary water, Sprite, and fruit juice in minibar, plus biscuits and plantain crisps. Nice veranda with chairs for relaxing with a drink. Only downside was that we didn’t have a coffee machine which the others did. However, the breakfast pergola also acts as a bar from 8.00-19.00 hours, so can get a coffee there. Could do with longer bar hours, but to be honest, most of the other visitors were out all day. Breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit, toast and yoghurt with granola or a choice of omelette, all served by the couple who own it. Very friendly people, the husband speaks English but I don’t think his wife did. Would definitely recommend this small, quiet hotel. Ideal for couples as there is a no children or pets rule. Not for people looking for somewhere with a lot going on, and the pool is only big enough for short lengths. Accessed by a private gate that is monitored , so very secure. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again if we went back to Las Terrenas. Good value for money."

Hotel Residence Marilar
"We arrived in Las Terrenas late in the afternoon with no hotel reservations because we wanted to see things before making a decision where to stay. The first place we checked out was a popular hotel in the main part of town that is highly recommended on trip advisor. The hotel and staff seemed okay, but the beach in town is very small and didn't look comfortable to spend the day in the water. The other thing we didn't like was that the hotel only had AC in the rooms, but not in the living room. I should mention that we were looking for 2 bedrooms and some sort of a living area. We moved on to checking out many hotels and AirBnB rentals from Playa Bonita back to the main part of town, stopping at some in Playa Las Ballenas. Everything we looked at had the same problems, either the beach was too small or too far away or more importantly there was no AC except for the bedrooms. Then we stumbled on Marilar, the one hotel kind enough to provide air conditioning in their living room and where the beach is right in front with ample space for beach chairs. Everything else about Marilar was rock solid. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable, in fact the pillows were the most comfortable I've experienced in a long time. The hot water was always available and ample, the AC was cold, everything in the kitchen worked. The staff provided us with as much coffee and sugar as we needed and arranged for food and supply deliveries as we needed them. There are two restaurants next to the hotel, both will deliver. The pool was a nice temperature and was very clean. Parking was ample with a secure area behind the hotel. I highly recommend the 1st floor as pool access is very easy, room #1 is a great choice if you need a 2-bedroom. Last, the owner was present and made us feel very comfortable during our stay without being intrusive. "
