"Perfect stay with sea view – 3 nights like a week holiday We were from 15.–18. April 2026 at Hotel Geranio au Lac and can only say: an absolute full hit! Our room on the 6th floor was beautiful – with a view that you would like to frame. However, we keep the room number for us... otherwise it is guaranteed booked next time 😉. We also want to highlight the cleanliness – really TOP, here is absolutely nothing to challenge. The breakfast buffet was unfair: always fresh, lovely presented and it was continuously dressed – so the start in the day makes great pleasure. Specially enthusiastic we were 24/7-Kaffeemaschine. A coffee at 6:30 p.m., without having to wait for the breakfast opening? That's our style! The friendliness at the reception and in the breakfast room was constantly top – you feel just welcome. Our dog was also warmly welcome, and CHF 19.– per day we find absolutely fair. Another plus point: the nearby parking house with special conditions – uncomplicated and practical. If you want to criticise something (you really need to look for), then there are two small points: The loading of the baggage directly in front of the hotel is a little complicated, since there are little stop options – here is a little coordination required. In summer it could become a little more lively thanks to the many restaurants and bars around –, with exactly this of course also its charm. Concluded: We're very happy to come back – perhaps even back to the "secret" room on the 6th floor"

"We took a 34-day self-driving tour from Beijing, China to Europe, and visited France, Italy, and Switzerland. We checked into this hotel on December 4th and met UALENDWA (Chinese name Xiaomei) who left a deep and good impression on us. We were pleasantly surprised by her fluent Chinese and sweet smile. When our power socket broke down, she was very proactive and responsible in solving the problem for us, which really touched us. This hotel is ideally located in the heart of a busy commercial street. It was the Christmas season at the end of the year, and the whole street was decorated with lights and was very lively. It is indeed the best choice for travelers. We are glad we made this choice. I wish the hotel a prosperous business! I wish Xiaomei all the best and may all her wishes come true!"

You can't beat the location, located ajacent to the train station and a 10 minute ride from Locarno. The price reduction for the Thermal in Locarno and Ticino Ticket are nice perks. All around great experience!"

"We were only for a weekend in the newly renovated hotel because we celebrated with family on the nearby camping place birthday. Reception on 13 floors. Very nice and friendly reception. Our rooms on the 11th floor and these were very clean and you saw that the new were renovated. The bed was relatively hard but very comfortable. We have very well sleeped. In one room it is only “comical” that the window from the bathroom/WC was directly on our balcony and thus it was not possible to speak “private” on the balcony because the neighbor heard everything. Breakfast can be called “simply and simply”. At the entrance, you take a cube with the room number on the table. Unfortunately it is very badly written that it works like that. The table stands on the ground and some did not see it and then were not just politely pointed to it. The selection is reduced. Two cheeses, two meat, yoghurt, Müesli, bread. The most selection has been made for confectionery in the portioned packings. Negatively noted the lady who took the buffet. She took the half-bleach plates with cheese and meat from the window, although I stand there with empty plates and there are no new guests broad and broad. It took until she came back and I could serve. This is just an example of unhost friendly behaviour. Check out again nice. For a short stay the hotel is good for its three stars."

"The Hotel is, without a doubt, one of the finest hotels we've had the pleasure of staying in. Everything here exudes quiet luxury – not the flashy kind, but the kind that whispers “old money” and glides rather than walks. The service is immaculate. Never fussy, always flawlessly timed, the staff knows when to appear and assist and, more importantly, when not to. The rooms? Spotless, polished, and so well maintained they could pass for brand new. The food is delicious. There's a sense of space and privacy throughout – you can truly relax here, and that’s becoming harder to find these days. If we had to point out one, it would be this: with great luxury comes a certain kind of guest. This is the sort of place where fellow guests don’t so much greet you as assess you. A raised brow here, a barely perceptible glance there – one feels not unwelcome, but rather under review. Still, it’s all part of the charm. If you’ve ever wanted to star in your own episode of “The Tastefully Dressed Stranger Who May or May Not Belong Here,” this is your stage. In short: Castello del Sole is exceptional. A haven of taste, peace, and unspoken expectations."

"Last year in 2022, my daughter and I had an excellent culinary experience at this restaurant! I had the Pizza Forestiere and my daughter the Scialatielli con pomodorini. The best pizza I've ever had, and impossible to reproduce at home, as well as the Scialatielli. We had to wait almost a year before we could enjoy this wonderful food again - and we're good cooks! Finally, last week we managed it, and couldn't wait to come to this restaurant for the food and ambiance. The staff recognized us immediately and made us feel so welcome, yet again. Alessandro, Peppe, Flo, and the whole team were amazing. Despite the scaffolding being mounted for the upcoming Moon & Stars Music Festival in the immediate vicinity, it didn't bother us in the slightest. Alessandro informed us of the upcoming fireworks show and so we considered staying another night in TI, (we had been in Ascona beforehand), so he checked with Mrs. Kanalga if there was any availability, (at such short notice), and bless her heart, she had a couple and offered us a superior room for a great price and also included a free breakfast. The room was huge, quiet, very clean, and, with a very spacious bathroom. Switzerland is experiencing a very unusually hot summer and only a minority of Swiss Hotels have air conditioners. Nonetheless, we were very comfortable. One can really feel the love, passion, and care that Mrs. Kanalga invests in this phenomenal, historic property and in her staff, that go above and beyond to make you feel right at home. Exquisite food, remarkable service, and an excellent atmosphere right on the main square/Piazza Grande. Can't say enough about this place and can't wait to come back! "

"This simple, budget hotel is very good value for money. It is clean and comfortable, if a bit old. The breakfast buffet was also good value for money. The hotel is central, on the main square in Locarno, and close to the lake. Checking in and out was efficient. The hotel also has a restaurant but we didn't eat there. "

"Location, location, location! The hotel is perfectly situated on the lake with spectacular views. They provide free, very nice, bikes to ride around. You’re just 10 minutes from Lacarna and a small vibrant town. Dining was lovely and quite tasty. Service is a 10! Rooms are nice, only thing I would add is a coffee/tea maker in the room (early rising American )"
