This was my first time staying at Babahouse, and I really loved the concept and traditional style of the hotel. From the moment we arrived at the lobby, we were warmly greeted and welcomed with a complimentary drink coin for the entire stay — 1 coin per person, per room. Since we had 2 rooms for 2 days, we received 4 coins in total. A nice little touch that made us feel welcomed. When we entered our rooms, they were generally clean, tidy and comfortable. However, in one of the rooms, we noticed some mould on the towel and also on the bed. We understand that this can happen if a room has been unoccupied for some time, especially with the humid weather. We also noticed that only some of the room windows have coverings, which may contribute to the room condition. Hopefully, the management can pay extra attention to this. The weather outside was extremely hot, with no rain for the whole week, so the first thing we did was turn the air-conditioning on full blast! We also tried the gym and really enjoyed it. Although the gym is small, the space is sufficient for a simple workout. They also provide towels and drinking water, which is very convenient. Around the hotel, there is Rumah Kechik Café and also a hidden bar on the side, which adds to the overall charm and experience. During our stay, we didn't drive around much. We mainly went out to Jonker Street and simply walked from the hotel. It was easy and convenient, and it also saved us time from dealing with traffic and finding parking. Overall, I really enjoyed my first stay at Babahouse. I love the traditional concept, atmosphere and location. With a little more attention to room maintenance and cleanliness, I believe the experience could be even better. Definitely a place I would consider staying again when visiting Melaka.

The room, while small, was very clean, just right for two people. The amenities were spotless; this is probably the cleanest hotel in Malaysia I've stayed at in terms of toiletries. The hairdryer provided was also high-end. Best of all, the staff spoke Chinese, making communication very easy, and they didn't require a deposit. I also have to praise the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious!

The room is very nice and located just at the redhouse area, walking distance to jonker street, recommended. They give welcome drinks during checkin and the staff is friendly. We got a free totebag also. One thing is noise insulation not the best they provide earplugs for this 😂

This hotel definitely has a lot of character. Let's start with the positives: the lobby is absolutely stunning, steeped in history, and truly a sight to behold. The breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of unique fruits and dishes. The dining area itself was comfortable, cozy, and elegant, making you feel like you're dining in a historical masterpiece. Now for the downsides: the hotel is quite old, and the facilities and equipment are showing their age. The bedding was also not up to par; the duvet in our room was stained with what looked like blood, and we had to call someone to replace it. The soundproofing in the rooms is poor. While being on Jonker Street is convenient for exploring, it also means traffic jams every time a vehicle tries to enter, making getting in and out a bit of a hassle. If you prioritize unique character and historical charm, this hotel might be for you. However, if quality and attention to detail are your main concerns, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I loved everything about this hotel. The decor is a beautiful blend of heritage charm and modern elegance, and the reception area always smelled wonderfully fragrant, making it feel welcoming the moment you stepped inside. On our first day, after walking around Jonker Street, I actually passed by the hotel from the opposite direction and said, “What a lovely place this is!” before my husband laughed and said, “It’s our hotel!” That pretty much sums up how charming the property is. It’s excellent value for money, especially considering all the thoughtful complimentary touches, from the well-stocked minibar to the delicious pineapple tarts delivered during afternoon tea. Breakfast was another highlight, with a great selection of local delicacies, and you can also order freshly prepared dishes. Most importantly, the location is fantastic. Jonker Street and many of Melaka’s main attractions are just a short walk away, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city on foot. I would happily stay here again.

Facilities: Very charming, with a strong Nanyang (Southeast Asian) vibe. Cleanliness: Excellent. Environment: Great. The location right by the river makes it convenient for walks, and it's not far from Jonker Street, so you can easily explore all the attractions on foot. Service: Excellent. They offer service with a smile, and the staff are very warm and helpful, even opening doors for guests.

The location is super convenient, right next to the Stadthuys, surrounded by all the attractions. The staff were also very enthusiastic and recommended many restaurants popular with locals.

This hotel boasts an excellent location, just a short walk from Jonker Street in Malacca, making it incredibly convenient to get around. You can even drive right up to the hotel entrance. The lobby is small and cozy, with the breakfast area located right behind it. Each room includes breakfast for two, and you need to choose your meal options the day before. Our reserved room was spacious, but the bedding was a definite letdown: the comforter looked old, yellowed, and dark from repeated washing, which was quite off-putting. Furthermore, I was bitten multiple times during my stay; three consecutive bites on my left leg on the first day, and another three on my right leg the next. It's been five or six days, and the bite marks still haven't faded. AI suggests these are very likely bed bug bites, although no one else in my family was bitten, so I can't be entirely sure. What I can confirm is that they weren't mosquito bites. The coffee machine in the room was faulty, but the staff promptly replaced it after I called the front desk, which was commendable. On a side note, there are two small, reasonably priced restaurants directly opposite the hotel. They offer good value for money if you want a satisfying meal on a budget, and a great alternative to the overpriced and mediocre options on Jonker Street. Just be aware that these places close at 4 PM, so they aren't suitable for dinner. Objectively speaking, this hotel was the least value-for-money stop on our entire trip. Its main selling point is its exceptional location, which might be the only reason to stay, as there aren't many other choices. Overall, the experience was just average.

The location is great, right at the entrance of Jonker Street, making it very convenient for taxis. From the outside, it looks a bit unassuming, but once you step through the hotel doors, it's full of Nanyang charm. The front desk staff spoke excellent Mandarin and even gave us a free room upgrade. The welcome drink was also delicious. However, there's no elevator, and the stairs are quite narrow, so lugging a big suitcase up to our second-floor room was a real struggle. The room was spacious, and the bed was huge. We could even see the Jonker Street stage from our window and watch Hunan TV! The only downside was that the shower water wasn't very hot. Considering it was during the bustling Chinese New Year, the price was really good value for money!

Cleanliness tip top. The room is so spacious, and has many amenities provided. Receptionists also give nice services (except for 2nd night abt parking....) This is a very good hotel especially when you can book it with a budgeted price. The hotel also provided a snack and drink from the vending machine at the reception hall area. The only problem is the room is not soundproof enough. I can hear the next room customer laughing, chatting in the middle of night (maybe they just came back from Jonker Night Street Walk). But it's kind of disturbing for us to get a good sleep.
