Matobo Hills Lodge

Matobo Hills Lodge

📍 Matobo National Park Campsite, Matobo National Park, Matobo
★★★ 9.4 (34 reviews)

"The attention to detail was deliberate and consistent, and the staff operated at a level of attentiveness that genuinely stands out. A special mention to the guide, whose depth of knowledge elevated the entire stay. Engaging, insightful, and clearly passionate, an asset to the experience. The accommodation itself is world-class. The views are striking, the setting is peaceful, and everything is curated to create a high-impact, memorable stay. The food? Consistently excellent, well-prepared, well-presented, and satisfying across the board. Overall, a premium experience delivered by a team that clearly understands hospitality. Grateful, impressed, and highly recommend."

Matopo Ingwe Lodge

Matopo Ingwe Lodge

📍 Gladstone Farm, Matobo
★★★ 8.5 (4 reviews)

"Although taking bookings the lodge had a closed feel about it, and an air of dilapidation. Pool was shut then when told it was working it was filthy and had not been filtered. Set menu for dinner for 20dollars USD, half of which was unavailable and when arrived was very poor, as was breakfast. "

Amalinda Lodge

Amalinda Lodge

📍 matopos, Matopos, Matobo
★★★★ 9.9 (24 reviews)

"Wonderful experience all round. Camp with a twist built, some rooms, bar & restaurant built into the rock bolders. Pool amazing. Our hut was more inline with an old African mud hut, with 5 star facilities. (Not built out of mud) Food & service first class, highly recommended. Our guide Howard was excellent, thank you Howard. Highly recommended. Thank you all for a wonderful experience. Mark & Lisa"

Big Cave Camp

Big Cave Camp

📍 46km peg along, the Kezi Road, Matopos
★★★ 9.3 (4 reviews)

"Fantastic quiet retreat! We stayed her for a family reunion. Loved the beautiful rooms and the views of the bush, hills and the most spectacular sunsets. Food was great, staff took great care with allergies in our group. Exceptional service all around, but a special shout-out to our guide, Sandile. His expertise on traditional plant medicine and ceremonies made our game drive so much more than just a tour. It was deeply enriching. Nature lovers will adore the lizards, monkeys that you share the camp with, and the surroundings—just remember to bring bug spray! Loved the bird chorus throughout the day but especially early in the morning. A perfect, peaceful getaway."

"Friendly efficient reception. Clean comfortable accommodation and beautiful views from the restaurant patio, where we had drinks. Dinner was delicious and expertly served by Yolanda. We were served a packed breakfast for our early journey onwards. A great stay for visiting the magnificent Matopos!"

Amalinda Lodge ★★★★
"This is a really unique African experience - don't miss it. The focus is not on the game (though walking so close to white rhinos was rather a thrill) but on the rock art of the San people, and enjoying the lodge and the pool. There was some welcome rain when we were there but it didn't stop us getting out everyday with Howard, who was a fabulous guide - extremely knowledgeable about the rock art, and the politics and history of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe. The food was fantastic - we had some of the best steak we have ever had anywhere in the world - and the infinity pool with zebra and a zonkey grazing nearby was a delight. We also had a very interesting walking tour of Bulawayo with Paul Hubbard - worth trying to arrange if you can. The country is a mess, but the people are delightful and it is very safe."

Big Cave Camp ★★★
"Besides the fact that we were all “rocked” by these magnificent views, our chalets were absolutely perfect. Everything we needed was available. It is an hour’s drive from Bulawayo and worth at least a 2 night stay. Beds and linen super comfortable. Meals have been really great and the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful."
