"Wow - what an amazing place! We didn't expect to find such a gem in Messina, but this hotel has so much character. Our suite had a balcony with a view, a huge en suite, a chandelier and a tapestry. We found we had the whole hotel to ourselves overnight (no staff on the premises!). Breakfast was fabulous, with loads of choice, and the location was great for exploring in the afternoon. Messina isn't the most exciting location (we were en route to the Aeolian Islands) but this hotel made our stay very special!"

"Let me start by saying I've traveled a bit in my life. This kind of thing—the filth, the staff's arrogance when it comes to requests for cleaning assistance—is bordering on decency. The manager's immediate non-attendance, in the summer, is already indecent, and scamming people like this, but why? I've never seen such a disgrace, in terms of location, cleanliness, and staff...it's bordering on reporting to the NAS, and no, it's a coincidence. Three rooms with the same complaints as us on the same day. PLEASE AVOID IT."

"Interesting and central place. Room complete with comfort even if an extra pillow wasn't bad. Excellent welcome with coffee, sweets etc... The only flaw to point out is the lack of privacy between the shower room and toilet. with the room because it is delimited only by transparent glass. All in all we will be back"

"Our family stayed for 7 nights and would love to return to stay again! The breakfasts had a variety of choices, the staff was very attentive, clean rooms, the owners are around checking on things. The pool was amazing- quiet during the week and crowded on the weekend since it was high season and fantastic buffet offered. The owners went out of their way to help us with our needs. We did not have a car but the bus was easy a few steps down the street and the beach is a 12-15 minute walk. This is a return location for us- very relaxing with the nice plantings on the grounds to relax."

B&B Cairoli

"We made a reservation by phone for the Cairoli B&B in Piazza Cairoli, and upon our arrival, we were redirected to another place on a street behind the square with no sign whatsoever. The entrance was dilapidated, and when we returned that evening, a cockroach even crawled under our feet. The rooms were small to medium, with cracked walls and a questionable shower with a blocked stall that was impossible to close. We paid €80 in cash, with no receipt whatsoever. For less, you can find much, much better options in Messina."
